  • CAN YOU DRASTICALLY CHANGE YOUR BOAT?
    I bet at one point you may have asked can you drastically change your boat?
    In my videos people have changed their Twin Troller X10 boats often. They make changes to the layout of the boat but not often to they make major changes to the boat.
    Come watch a transformation of the boat by a TT owner to see what he does. Heck, you may decide you want to do it yourself also.

    Thanks guys for all the comments, and I love the intro Gerry.....you crack me up. I don't have facebook, so not sure about the "Safety Sally" reference, but I do know Gerry has a butt seat story to tell as well.....Happy fishing guys.

      Ted, you inspired me to do that intro.
      On the phone I told Ted a story of fishing in a tournament in a full sized Ranger bass boat with my son. It was very windy and I was standing up in front of the pedestal seat when a gust and wave knocked be off balance so I just leaned back into the bicycle seat on the pedestal. I thought I leaned directly onto it but was off centered and it spun me around so I was about to fall on a mess of rods on the deck with treble hooks on the lures. I decided the water looked like a better place to go so in I went. When I came back to the surface my son asked me what I was doing and I said "Just going for a swim, what does it look like I am doing?" 🤭 Gerry

      Gerry, there is interest in Ted’s butt seat addition on Facebook. One of the TT members would like to contact Ted. The member’s name is Mickey. Perhaps you can make it possible for them to talk about Ted’s idea.

    Ted did an “outstanding” idea here. I especially am intrigued by the pedals mounted flat in relation to the decking. That should make operating the boat from the upright position much easier. Well done!

    Some great things are done by people with not much to do otherwise. The other platforms were nice but with my balance I do believe that this one could make a big difference in getting me to possibly stand up in my TT. Think you should consider building a prototype from the same material as the TT and maybe get Frank to add it as an option at Freedom Electric.

    The deck looks wonderful, and Ted work shows great craftmanship throughout. Playing devils advocate here I have a few questions/concerns. 01. This mod permanently makes this boat a two seater right? Front seat to control the TT and back seat to control the outboard. Seemed there was a lot more room with the original one seat configuration. 02. Doesn't this eliminate a lot of storage room. The space under the deck appears difficult to access especially while afloat. 03. Higher center of gravity concerns me. With both the front seat and back seat with slider boosting elevation, safety Sally or not, at some point it can become unsafe. I understand that while conditions are optimal it seems rock steady, but let a strong boat wake or sudden grounding occur and who knows what might happen. There is a tipping/breaking point here somewhere and I'm not sure its worth finding out in the middle of nowhere. I also have concerns about standing and operating the pedals, which may lend itself to instability, especially with taller and heavier operators. 04. The front seems to obscure the rear outboard operators line of sight. Add someone sitting up there and it might present quite a visual obstacle. Even when going solo, I assume the seat can be removed, but now we are taking up space again inside what remains of the open hull. Still, all in all, I am impressed with the quality of the modification!

    Great job Ted! The wife and I have been seriously thinking about buying a TwinTroller.

      Tex,
      Yes, Ted did a great job!
      When I have a second person I leave the Honda home push the front chair more forwards and the rear seat toward the back. There is plenty of room for casting. Gerry

    • @tedondrish9204
      @tedondrish9204 Před 3 lety

      Hey Tex, I have yet to fish from my boat by myself, I thought I'd get to do that this year, but with the Covid crap, and then a month suffering with sciatica, followed by a hot summer I've only been out 5-6 times, but with my shortened 2-man casting deck (2nd video with Gerry) it has worked out great and even with my best friend who is 200 lbs and not quite as mobile as me in the back seat, we still have no problem and he will go fishing anytime I call him. The deck has made it seem even more roomy, but I also installed a sliding seat mount on the back seat that raised the seat and it now can slide backwards over the outboard tiller when we get to the spot we want to fish in and I take over with the front pedals and he can slide his seat back with the flip of a lever, and he really appreciated the raise in the seat 2 inches, as Gerry had shown in a previous video as well. If you're both barely 200 lbs, you will have almost no issues especially with a deck like this (like I mentioned the 2-man deck I constructed in the other video is approx 16" shorter, you can find that here: czcams.com/video/UkCkXza5F4A/video.html )

      your reply, that's all great info! The wife and I are looking hard at the TT and hope to purchase one in the very near future. Kind of neat, but for me it's overkill. Perhaps, if someone was looking for something to do, it was worth it. I like the small 15" deck I made, it's easier to pick up and move around. And serves as a great gear rigging table. I built a casting deck for my previous 15' Jon Boat and found out it was useless, besides being pretty rocky.

    My buddy Angel, chicago area, has a twin troller but I don't think he has the balls to try something like this as he is "weight challenged"! How is the stability with the center of gravity raised as sucn? The pedestal is a good idea for the "weight challenged" but i am bigger than him and don't really want to lose my gear when fishing with "slim", i loved the video and all I can say is "Onward to the moon!" Tight lines and cold brews have a great season.
