Dean, you are very right. I have never had that problem. My guess is there is a gasket or seal where you removed those two screws? I would drain and clean the motor then reinstall with either a new gasket or O-Ring or try to use a sealant on the old seal if you cannot locate or make one yourself. Then hope for the best before replacing the entire motor. On CZcams I have found in the past people servicing their trolling motors so try doing a search here to gain some knowledge. Gerry

Howard, Thanks for asking, yes I am still alive. Doing these videos is an awful lot of work but some days I get the urge to do more so who knows? I use my forward scan often Some lakes I am in are very weedy and the forward scan is not that useful but it is remarkable to see fish and catch them this way. I also use it to navigate in those weedy lakes by seeing clumps of weeds just under the surface in my path so I can negotiate around them. I have had up to seven rods in the boat so I know what you mean about the tangle! Welcome to the family! Gerry

Ram, I absolutely agree the factory drain holes are not easy to use. My boat didi not come with any so I added them myself, but never used them. I prefer to suction the water out through the hole I made on each side at the top in my video. Much easier. Gerry

Tim, I can only give this advice. I have owned my TT for over 8 years and four month so far. I am in Central Florida and use my TT regularly 12 months of the year. My TT has always been garage kept. I rarely remove the pedals from the boat, even when transporting. I also keep dielectric grease on the connectors for the pedals. I do not like fishing in the rain but I am not saying I have never been caught out in a substantial rain storm. Since Florida is the Lightning Capital of the USA I try to not be the next victim. In all the time I have owned my TT I have never had ANY issues with my pedals. True I have heard of others having pedal problems but I have never. You will have to decide for yourself if this is good or bad advice. Fishing with your hands free by using the pedals is wonderful. I have owned many boats and was a tournament bass fisherman for many years. Sometimes I miss being able to go faster but if I even knew all the bass I drove past to get quickly to my next spot I probably would not have been racing all over the lake. The ease of taking care of the TT and the peace and quiet this boat affords me far exceeds the ability to speed around the lake. Congratulations on the new boat and Welcome to the Family. Gerry

Tim, I think that material is called potting? Yes, I have that on mine but read that some do not to keep heat from causing issues. I am not sure which is best but I have never had any problem with mine and approaching 8.5 years soon. Gerry

Fatboy, Yes that battery is not available any more that I can find. I replaced it with a 16ah lithium battery because my 9" Garmin needed more power. Gerry

I got the net at a flea market. Mine is not that long but a fine mesh pool skimmer net with a pool cleaning telescoping pole would work well too. The length depends on where you are going to try to get the shrimp

This sounds like good maintenance but I have one question. Do you use ethanol free fuel? That is all I have ever used since it was new, 8+ years ago. Ethanol attracts moisture and can be causing your water issues even though you seem meticulous about all the steps you listed. One other issue is your motor is at the water 24/7, and like you said the carb is vented to the atmosphere and moist air.

We always try to get alcohol-free fuel but in some states it is very difficult to find. Maryland, New Jersey, and New York have been very problematic. One can buy Redi-fuel at a home Depot but it is ridiculously expensive. I try to stock up before leaving Virginia going north and fill a 5-gallon jug but I have been forced to de-alcohol gas a few times by adding water and causing it to seperate out. That's a lot of work and messy. I've had issues with our old 2-stroke 2HP motor using alcohol fuel. Now I always make sure it is not and even have a test vial if I suspect it is alcohol gas.

@@svbarryduckworth628 Very good! I also add fuel additive (usually Sea Foam) to my five gallon gas cans before adding the non-ethanol fuel at WAWA. I just that gas in every. small engine I have.

I make my own fuel additive. It is about a third seafoam and a third marvel mystery oil and a third 2-stroke oil with a bit of StarBrite fuel conditioner enzyme stabilizing treatment. I put an ounce of this concoction in to my 2-gallon gas can when I fill it up. That's about a 250:1 ratio and is only 2/3 oil content so more like 375:1 fuel/oil. it can't be smelled in the exhaust -much less any smoke seen but it does protect the fuel system from rust as well as the exhaust. These Hondas have a reputation for their exhaust pipes rusting out down inside the lower units so a tiny bit of 2-stroke residue protects it The spark plugs look really great and I don't see a hint of carbon build up. The prophylactic sea foam should keep carbon off of the piston and valve chambers.too. A 2-gallon can lasts us about 2 months so it does get used up fast enough and it is very well sealed. The gas can you showed in your other video is nice but I habe found they don't fare well when stored outdoors in the rain and sea spray. Rain water tends to get in and moisture gets in with the air as the can breathes with daily heat cycling. On a sailboat we store flammable fuel on deck and don't bring it down below. I also have one of those baja luggage rack fuel tanks that adventure motorcyclists use. It screws to a special mount right through the center of the can with a special mounting bolt. These are designed to be mounted in any orientation on an off-road vehicle so they are completely sealed and very rugged. Mine is the 5-liter size which gives me about 5 hours of extra fuel if full and I have the mount screwed right to the transom where it won't move around and is up above any rain water. I don't usually keep it 100% full since 5 hours of extra running is not necessary. Thus it acts as a little supplemental floatation to the transom should the dinghy ever swamp in a really hard rain (It has happened a few times over the years) and will help keep the motor out of the water better should that happen. During a bad storm a swamped boat can be overtopped by waves so the higher the motor is floating out of the water the better Before I had the baja fuel can I kept a little 1-gallon plastic fuel jug which often would be floating in a few inches of water on it's side inside the boat whenever it rained hard. I have a couple MSR cans but, like you, found they get extremely hard to open if not constantly lubricated at the cap so I don't use them.

I forgot to add that because we only buy fuel every couple of months we are almost always in a different place. Most marina fuel docks in the USA have pretty good fuel (look for the Valvetec sign) although in Maryland, New Jersey, and New York many still have alcohol because of local laws requiring it. We don't have a car so we are limited to someplace close to where we are anchored where we can walk or ride our folding bikes. I know a website where it shows you where all the gas stations that have alcohol-free fuel. Most WaWa stations have at least one pump that has it as well as diesel. We will often buy diesel for our sailboat from gas stations because even though they are charging road taxes on the fuel it still manages to be 25-40% cheaper than at a fuel dock because they don't have much competition.

Rollers are fine for some boat styles and the materials the hull is made from and depending on how the hull is built. Others like a plastic boat can deform with the pressure of the rollers on only small percentages of the hull and that goes for some other boats styles. If rollers work for you and your boat that is great, but they are not good for all boats otherwise the manufacturer would have rollers on every new boat/trailer right out of the show room.

Not enough information to make a response. That description could have so many causes. Bad fuel, fuel filter clogged, spark plug bad, Spark plug gap not right, spark plug wire bad, Carb settings off, Timing off, Valve clearance off, etc. etc. etc.

Gator patch is very hard and brittle when exposed to UV light. I suppose you could try using that but I am not sure how sealed a screw going through it would be and how well it would support the grate. Gerry

In case you are interested in if water is still getting into the hull? I went fishing and then checked the hull after I got home and it was completely dry. That means the water that has been getting into my hull came in through the screw holes on the grates that cover the trolling motors and this repair worked. Finally I have solved the mystery of where the water has been slowly entering the hull. 😊

Yes, I believe so. Somewhere , Amazon, eBay, etc. I saw an adapter that slides on to some batteries for drills and gives you wires to connect to a fish finder or something else. Do not forget to install a fuse between the battery and the item you are powering. Gerry

too short if you install it under the axle? I installed it under the frame because my trailer is so small and low to the ground.
