    When fishing for Carp in the Autumn months the Chod rig really comes into it's own! A go anywhere, fish anywhere rig, it's accounted for thousands of big Carp across the UK and is an excellent addition to the Carp anglers armoury.
    In this video AD Team Member Stephen Crowe talks us through a beginners guide of do's and don'ts when it comes to chod fishing.

    Wow just seeing this out of the box czcams.com/users/postUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

    Question. Doesn’t the ledger hit the fish in the face when playing it though. As in your set up the hook link is same distance as the lead weight? I thought it needed a bit of distance ? Also will be a lot of pressure on the lead weight as the fish pulls sort of sideways on the main line. Any comments welcome. Fishing a new really weedy lake

    How does the mechanics differ between the stiff hinged and the chod rigs, would you use either for the same conditions and is one better than the other?

    I'm a bit confused as haven't fished weed a lot. This guy said fish slack lines, but wouldn't they sink in the weed and cause a problem? I thought in weed you need your rods up and tight lines? I only ask as not sure myself and about to start a campaign on a very weedy lake. Either way though, very informative video 👍

  • @richxyz688
    @richxyz688 Před 7 lety +1

    The chod rig seems perfect for the venues I fish, which are mostly almost completely surrounded by trees, so they have a ton of crap on the bottom pretty much all year round. But on one, I stopped using it because fishing is only allowed from boat, therefore slack line. Doesn't the combination of a heli rig and slack line run the risk of poor bite indication? Or do you only fish it semi slack - just enough to let the leadcore lie flat?

    • @AnglingDirectTV
      @AnglingDirectTV  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi Rich, the chod rig isn't for every lake, but can be devastating when used in the right situation. I think, like you say, if you fished it semi-slack it would work ok.

      @richxyz688 Před 7 lety +1

      Hi, thanks for the reply! Yeah, the video just got me thinking, cos it mentions fishing a slack line, which surprised me a bit.

    • @AnglingDirectTV
      @AnglingDirectTV  Před 7 lety +1

      No worries at all Rich. It all depends on the lake and conditions you are fishing really.

    for some reason on my rigs my heli safe won't drop the lead and for some reason ejects the whole end section and only leaving me above the swivel .meaning I'd have to replace the whole thing .......???...any help much appreciated

    • @AnglingDirectTV
      @AnglingDirectTV  Před 7 lety +2

      Hi Carl, if you have a little look on Korda's website I think there's some information on there dedicated to the heli-safe, hopefully that will help. If not perhaps pop a search in on CZcams?

    I had boilies for almost 3 years ago and never had results on them,what can the problem be?I only get results on Tigernuts.

    • @AnglingDirectTV
      @AnglingDirectTV  Před 7 lety +3

      Thats strange Andries, boilies account for 1,000's of carp every year? If you're getting good results on Tigernuts and they're working for you, then stick with them! :-)

    • @davidswinfield7384
      @davidswinfield7384 Před 6 lety +1

      the carp get addicted to tiger nuts they pass thru fishes gut very slowly & slow down the fishes appetite thats why on many lakes they are banned

    • @AnglingDirectTV
      @AnglingDirectTV  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi Thomas, you can use the chod rig all year round, but it's best used in situations where there's weed or leaf debris on the bottom.

    Leadcore is banned on waters in my area, what other material could I use to form the leader, bearing in mind fish safety and not leaving them dragging around the lead should I suffer a break.

    • @AnglingDirectTV
      @AnglingDirectTV  Před 5 lety

      Hi Gazza, you could look at tubing? Or some of the safe zone leaders, which do the same job as leadcore. If not you could tie your own flurocarbon leaders. Hope that helps a little!

      Use the korda naked heli safe clip kit it uses a bead so dont put angled pressure on the line and the clip drops the lead so its not causing any damage to the fish

      I was thinking this. If you don't want to drop the lead every time then it's surely hitting the fish as they fight!
