  • Natural deodorant is all the rage right now - Who wants to put chemicals directly on your skin and that close to you lymphatic system? But they're so expensive - That's why I've created three simple recipes for natural deodorant that you can make at home for as little as $1 a package. Amazing right?
Today I'm showing you how to make a Push-Up Deodorant, a Pit Paste and a delicious Body Spray.
    Ingredients for Push-Up Deodorant (Makes 2 x 2-ounce tubes):
    ½ cup coconut oil // goo.gl/jXcDGw
    ½ cup shea butter // goo.gl/gLM2Ct
    4 teaspoons beeswax pellets // goo.gl/dHgxSX
    2 Tablespoons zinc oxide // goo.gl/4z7in7
    20 drops grapefruit essential oil // goo.gl/bmKnkr
You will need to buy 2-ounce tubes for this
    Directions for Push-Up Deodorant:
    1) Melt oils and butters in a double boiler
    2) Remove from heat and whisk in zinc oxide
    3) Add the essential oil
    4) Pour into molds
    5) Allow it to set for 3 - 4 hours
    Ingredient benefits:
    Coconut oil moisturizing
    Shea butter, hydrating and nourishing
Zinc Oxide will help you to stay dry and helps with odor
    Grapefruit essential oil is antibacterial.
    Ingredients for Pit Paste:
    ¼ Cup Tapioca Starch // goo.gl/iei4Me
    ¼ Cup Baking Soda // goo.gl/FwVnTd
    ¼ Cup coconut oil // goo.gl/dEJtv5
    1 teaspoon zinc oxide // goo.gl/4z7in7
40 drops of your favorite essential oil
    Directions for Pit Paste:
Mash ingredients together in a bowl. (Note that when it’s warm outside the coconut oil will be liquid enough to mash without heating first. In the colder months, you may have to heat it by placing in a cup and then standing the cup in very hot water for 5 minutes.)
Simply place all the ingredients in a bowl and mash together with a fork. Transfer to a jar, and chill in the fridge.
In very warm weather it’s best to keep it in the fridge. In cooler weather, you can keep it out.
    Ingredient benefits:
Tapioca Starch and baking soda help keep you dry
Coconut oil will protect and nourish your skin
Zinc Oxide deals with wetness and odor
(Since we are using essential oils, I prefer you use an opaque sprayer because light degrades the oils). I found mine (cute metal sprayers) at The Container Store.
    Ingredients for Body Spray:
    2 ounces distilled water
    1 ounce Witch Hazel // goo.gl/rQdBVs
    1 ounce aloe vera juice // goo.gl/B2k9GK
40 drops of your favorite essential oil
    4-ounce sprayer bottle // goo.gl/S7PCD8
    Directions for the Body Spray:
Simply mix all the ingredients and transfer to bottle!
    Ingredient Benefits:
The witch hazel is an astringent, so helps to evaporate sweat on contact. The aloe vera juice is moisturizing. The essential oils (if you choose lavender, tea tree, peppermint, grapefruit, lemon are anti-bacterial).

If I’m looking for a new homemade personal care product, I know I can always depend on you to give me a formula that really works. WOW! This product is infinitely better than anything on the market.
I am a 70-year-old power-walker and gardener in Georgia, the heart of Dixie, so you KNOW I get very sweaty and smelly in our sloppy summer heat and humidity. I did add grapefruit essential oil as directed, but there's no hint of any scent at all when applied, and I still smell fresh as a daisy, even after spending the morning sweating in the garden.
I have used Estee Lauder deodorant for the past 35 years, at $20 a bottle, and this definitely out-performs it. Thanks again for another wonderful product.

I was going to come down to the comments and ask if the hosts were annoying or was it just me haha then I see everyone commenting about it... they were acting like skeptics that don’t take it seriously but I find this to be a great recipe not only for our own health but also for environmental issues like reusing your own deodorant bottles and not letting toxic wastes from producing conventional deodorants into the environment, so well done to the lady making this. Annoying hosts

i have tried baking soda, cornstarch, cocoa butter, VCO, and beeswax with EOs. They smell wonderful but the product gave us rashes- i read somewhere it’s the moisture and friction causing it. How do we avoid it? We still sweat with these and the butters are causing the sticky friction hence, the rashes and darkening
