  • @kjelllindberg6987
    @kjelllindberg6987 Před 5 lety +15

    There is actually one real problem with it!!!
    What Linus has mentioned are just wrong marketing and faulty advertising, but keep on reading and I will tell you.
    It does lack the Ethernet transformer and it has been replaced with 4 small surface mount capacitors.
    With this alteration, it will still work as an Ethernet adaptor but it does not comply with the Ethernet standard ( IEEE802.3u) anymore.
    IEEE802.3u requires 1500V galvanic insulation at each device. And from a high-frequency perspective, those capacitors do not provide any high-frequency insulation at all. This also means that the user breaks all EMC emissions requirements, and for sure on conducted emissions (most likely also on the immunity side also, but maybe also on radiated emissions).
    Those small surface mount capacitors do have a DC/AC insulation capacity of a maximum of 50V (more likely 16V). This means that if the switch in the other end has an insulation fault in it or if the Ethernet cable between the switch and the computer have an insulation error (partly exposed wire) and that wire is touching live wires. The entire battery operated laptop could be dangerous to touch (live voltage on the outside).
    To use capacitors instead of Ethernet transformers are a clever way to reduce costs, but that trick can and should NEVER be used to anything that connects to an unknown device, internally in a machine it is just fine. But to an outside device, NEVER.
    Just one thing more. Due to the stuff above it cannot be CE marked. So it would be illegal to sell it to anybody within a European Union country.
    And if a normal citizen did direct imported it from DX and used it and something bad did happen, the insurance company could decline to pay up for the bad thing that did just happen...
    So be aware.

    Alibaba is a wholesaler supplier, where the user is expected to message the seller to get more details. The results for a product search is often just one model of a whole line of products that the seller manufactures. It is up to the user to message back to narrow down what model you want.
    Knowing that, AliExpress feels like Alibaba trying to eBay. Ali sellers are most likely not used to selling single items at a time and the results for a product search could be just one product in the line that a manufactures makes.
    Also, us North Americans are pampered when it comes to assuming electrical standards,

Which makes that 2200 W power figure go just under 10 A, which is a common breaker current limit among with 16 A, with which you would be more than fine. That 1500 W number on the specs might be based on the choice of plug you choose above. So that power might just be limited on 120 V power grids but it might still actually be a 2200 W blender.

    Correction the most power you can draw from a 120v outlet (120v would be about 1800 watts and 125v would be about 1875 watts) depending on the voltage the wattage may vary (I have 125v here but I go 8blocks away and have 120v)
