    For all of those struggling with the keyboard's cables, try putting a stripe of tape all the way long the width of this flat devil to help you out. I can't believe I did spend more time trying to put this back, than taking apart the whole system.

    I’m excited because my new (well used new?) logic board for my 2009 17Inch MacBook Pro came in. I couldn’t be any less excited because when I got it, it didn’t turn on. I then proceeded to get assistance from Apple. We went through a lot of repairs to which they then recommended a new logic board. They were willing to help sell the part and do them self but I refused. The amount they charged me for, I could of just bought a brand new MacBook Pro. I love the large 17Inch. And the process is simple. I’ve already removed it and it’s literally a plug and play. Unfortunately I’m 750miles from home but when I get home, I’m immediately putting it in.

    Thank you very much!! Super useful. The video is missing an important thing though: when you undo the old board you need to take out two important parts and put them in the new board: the cooling system of the chip, and the microphone. Other than that this was the best

    Hello
    My macbook pro from 2011 broke down (motherboard). I bought a new computer since then and I got the ssd from it as an external storage drive case. In this confinement period, I decided to fix it. So I ordered a new motherboard on EBAY. After replacing it, I turn it on and the screen shows me a folder with a flashing question mark. No recognized operating system. I have recovered my ssd, and I would like to know how to restore the OS LION which was offered to me by default when trying to restore? On the screen, they show me "an error occurred while preparing the installation try running this application again", or if I do an ssd cloning with "carbon copy cloner", the up to date catalina OS which is on my other machine on it would end up on my ssd. Could it work? is it normal that my azerty keyboard is set to qwerty? Besides, when entering the wifi, to access the restoration system, the numbers on my keyboard as well as the trackpad do not work. Is this related to my new motherboard? I did a complete hardware test, the diagnosis shows me a battery problem with an error code (see photo attached)
    I think I said everything in terms of my questions.
    Thank you for your comeback.
    cordially
    Alex

    Bonjour, Bonsoir
    Merci de votre retour.
    Cordialement
    Alex

      (late response) you "can" put a i7 2012 motherboard on a 2011 MacBook Pro I recently swapped and works perfectly but on the display connector, you have to trim the display cable on the sides to make it fit because the port is a bit smaller than a 2011 motherboard and then you connect it perfectly.

      @maccentric Před 5 lety

      Don't do it. While you may get it to work, the LCD connectors are different (eDP vs LVDS), and can be damaged if a 2011-style cable connector is inserted. You can change the LCD cable, but then you have to disassemble the display, which is a pretty big PITA.

If so, what I’d recommend is, watch this video carefully again, take notes of all the connections here mentioned, watch one more time to double check and make sure you didn’t miss any part and then open the laptop again and very methodically and patiently check and double check all connections, one by one. I hope that helps. Good luck ; )

      T Villa I didn’t do that. I don’t think they technically allow that so they wouldn’t tell me. What I did was find a list of the incompatible parts in the 2010 and found replacements for them (display connector, airport, speakers, and antenna/camera). You can find all these things for really cheap on Ebay, I just ordered the whole display/clamshell because then I don’t have to replace the connector or antenna/camera for $40 and it makes it simple, The speakers and whole airport assembly was like $14 for both, and the logic board was $125 in theory I should have no issues, but we will see!

      T Villa I did it! I worked perfectly, and for some reason everyone tells you that it’s impossible when it took me like 10 minutes to finish.

      I'm late to the party lol! So glad you got it done. Congratulations!!! Yes so it's the same body so it should be fine, but there are some late 2012 models that will not fit 2010 bodies.

      Any luck? Mine has the same issue, doesn't sleep when display closes, or it shuts off randomly on its own. I have to run the fan on high (manually using an app) and leave it plugged in.

      Must be some other disconnected cable. Not that it's impossible but it is very difficult to fry a logic board after 2008.

    you need to warn people to carefully remove the wires because not knowing how to remove them can damage it especially on insight camera. You also need to slow down and show how your doing it properly step by step. Also invest in a better camera because your current one is bad cant zoom in properly. Also, keyboard wire was very hard to understand you didn't properly show it or zoomed in especially on putting everything back together. Overall just slow down and explain each step carefully and zooming in properly.

    why can't i remove the logic board? i'm lifting it up but it seems the plastic cover goes with it

    • @GRIBSOFT
      @GRIBSOFT  Před 6 lety

      You either missed a screw or there was a spill that dried and stuck the backlight cover to the speaker on the bottom of the board.
