The mana will never be an issue. I got one self weild infinity nova sorc and tried one without it. Clears 8player games without a problem and mana is never an issue. The big perks is that u get fcr req much easier so u can get a lot more MF on it. CM/Spirit actually does do more damage than self Infinity against non-lightning immunes (CM setup gets resistance down to -90 and the additional -10 is slightly less damage than +2 skill). The benefit of Self Infinity is the Insight mana regen and prayer cure merc.
While I don't disagree with your points, I still think that 200 fcr is better than infinity in some content, especially key farming, token farming, and rushing.
Can you confirm that facets and -resist on gear does not have the 1/5 penalty? I have looked everywhere and cannot find the data. I followed for the up to date content!

If someone has not tried this in d2R and stopped playing.. you're missing out. Terrorzones are all vawesome with this build, too. Your build should be maxed out by level 96? I think. But 92-95 felt great. Going to level ~90 in Chaos is efficient.. just hop in Baal runs and do those. If you're quick enough, you can even catch wave 4-5 of Baal for extra juice, but you can take the easy pace of clearing it all (no seal popping). I used to clear big packs and all 3 corners then Baal waves 4-5 and sometimes 2-3 as well from slow runners... then TZs from 94+ I stopped at 97 and made 5 more sorcies to 90-94 in no time. I have only gotten 3x97 and one 98 that I turned into a 99 for my only Character 99 (barbarian). From 1 to 95 pre-terror zones and then 96 and 97 left and right. 98 and 99 were both done in TZ chaos and Wsk baal waves (skipping Baal and Diablo of course). Maybe there's a bit of valuable information in here. I really wish we still get new stuff for this game. I think D2 is among the best games, still. D4 is a bad rehash of d3 :/ ... rip hopes and dreams that some ppl had. They really just threw money at that. No more passion to come from Blizzard imo.
It's BiS in softcore, but play max ES in hardcore and you'll eventually die to souls. Unless you play in area without souls! (which becomes annoying if you're just farming terror zone)
I don't play hardcore, but I would assume ES is a must have for hardcore, maybe not max but still must have. I guess Hydra is probably best for hardcore since you don't have to engage most of the time, you just need to do it slowly.
@@TheMilkYourDadWentToBuy i am really not... It is purely relaxing because of 3.5k mana and 350mf... and even in p8 I solo Baal easily... I tried infinity and just did not like it in comparison... more damage does nothing against this pure Tank mega speed for me. I also have 5 5 in Tal orb and armor which closes the gap even further

@@cruelangel1516 you wear griffons which is -25. Which is already 65 res. Then you put a 5/5 in vipermagi . You do 1200-1500 more sheet dmg per nova with not wearing infinity.. the extra damage ends up doing more dmg then seeing infinity and the enemy having 10-15 light res..

Totally agreed!!! For other es nova builds, even 200FCR cannot offset the effects of lightning resistance reduction from holding an infinity.

Ya, 200 FCR is probably is only good reason to not self wield Infinity if you really enjoy that crazy fast cast rate.

With Static Field it's always good. For high player games, the Conviction Aura makes a huge difference.

i am playing with spirit and 35 % pen with crescent moon its pretty decent too and theres just a maximum of 15 % lightning pen lost
7fhr 30 psn res jewels in your griffs and magi.
Merc- prayer, insight, cure, whatever. I prefer guardian angel on the merc so he never dies.

Never try Lightning/Chain Lightning Sorc so I don't know.
I run 4 Tal set, griffon, frostburn, spirit, extremly fast and 350mf ... i really do Not like infinity... slow and squishy
The damage with 4 tal set is fine in P1 but in P8 you're gonna be absolutely glacially slow compared to an infinity wielding nova sorc

yes, any base with low requirement is fine.
You lose too much life/mana wearing infinity. With sunder charms wearing infinity is useless.. the -res is what the sunder is already doing….
Sunder only brings the res to 95, you need -res to bring it even further down.
