    Great idea, and by no means does this break the spec, but those staff skill mods are impossible. You can't get a lvl 1 skill and a lvl 24/30 skill on a staff:
    lvl 1 skills require ilvl 18
    lvl 24 skills require ilvl >24
    lvl 30 skills require ilvl >36.
    So you'd need to drop warmth on your attack staff for something else, and pick a different cold armor for your buffing staff. Maybe Thunderstrom for offensive staff, and enchant+shiver armor on the offhand?

    • @ZzDuffy
      @ZzDuffy Před 2 lety

      swap warmth to energy shield

    • @ferallemur
      @ferallemur Před 2 lety +1

      I don't think you need Energy Shield, actually. In this video, the buff to Energy Shield on his swap did absolutely 0 for him, because +3 ES and +1 all skills was the exact same as the +4 on his main weapon. You can see that he's at 39 for the skill, and it maxes out at 40. But also, looking at his charms, he has space for one more skiller (by ditching his TP tome and a single small charm). So add one skiller and there you go, maxed out at level 40.
      Thunderstorm might be the better answer, then. A +3 to Thunderstorm on the staff gets you a level 23 Thunderstorm with a full synergy (If you get that extra skiller too), and that's probably not too impactful compared to your Nova damage, but it's not nothing, and ought to at least look cool. You know, if you're rich enough to be able to buy a staff that is +3 Nova, +3 TS, and +3 LM. I'm certainly not and could never see myself making that sort of investment.
      While we're on the subject of skills on staves, his staff on switch has T-storm, which is useless (goes away as soon as he switches to his main staff), and ES, which is useless (same bonus on main), and frozen armor. Frozen Armor is theoretically possible in a War Staff, if you were to cube recipe a low quality war staff to get an ultra low ilvl (which Larzuk would still give 5 sockets to), but I have to wonder if that sort of effort is really worth saving one measly skill point, when the alternative is to pair your CTA with a shield that gives you an extra bonus to all skills, buffing up your BO. That seems like a better plan to me.

    • @ZzDuffy
      @ZzDuffy Před 2 lety

      @@ferallemur he cant have warmth. swap warmth for energy sheild on his main 3+4=7.

    • @ferallemur
      @ferallemur Před 2 lety

      @@ZzDuffy I know he can't have warmth. But he's already at 39 ES on his main, he has room for one more skiller, and 40 is max. Extra points to Energy Shield won't do anything. So he'd be better off with Thunderstorm, because at least that does SOMETHING.

    • @ZzDuffy
      @ZzDuffy Před 2 lety

      @@ferallemur +3 energy shield lets you max lvl 40 with only 18 hard points though. That lets you put a hard point into LS and frost armor and use spirit for BO buff or still use a buff staff with LS/Shiver armor and 2 additional points into warmth. Sorry I didnt explain myself, was a little sauced lol

    This build is still manageable with viper, magefist aldur boots you don’t need grif and all the other expensive gear but it does help damage wise. You don’t need infinity but if you one kudos but a act two reapers merc does fine. I made one with 140 cast rate isn’t too much of a difference casting wise. you'd need to skill strength then. upped viper requires 84 Strength, so with the perfect torch and anni you lose 14 points to reach it. Still might be worth it, though :)
      I'm more concerned with the Ber Runes, considering damage to mana happens before Resistances are applied. so the 16% DR only works on 5% of the damage that goes thru the ES.
      Not sure, whether D2R changed much regarding the Icetree Armors, but iirc the higher tier armors were much better than the one you get at level 1. especially the one that retaliates ranged attacks with a freeze might be an exceptional choice, given that ES sorcs are quite weak to extra fast archers, esp. with manaburn

    Very cool, NOVA is one of the funniest builds to play.
    I'm wondering if its worth to go from 105 FCR to 200. The DPS with 200 FCR is 14% higher than with 105 FCR but a big sacrifice has to be done to reach that 200 FCR which might not be worth it from a DPS perspective.
    For example 105 FCR can be reached by using Eldrich 40, Griffon 25, Arach 20 and Ormus 20 and there is still space left for other options like 2x SOJ, Frost Gauntlets, Mara, Jmod with 4x 5/5 and other options which combined would probably provide more than the 14% increase in DPS that the 200 FCR provides.
    Sure 200 FCR is more fun than 105 tho.
    In any case, being able to play NOVA again feels great :D

    couple points:
    - coulda spend like at least a few minutes figuring out how much fhr you wanna hit and adjusted charms accordingly.
    Good crafted manaboots beat Silk Weaves in a landslide, since you were already hero editing, might as well have made up some of those (with fhr, so you'd have 70 base with obsession , now you want prolly 1 gc 1 sc with fhr)
    - if you are running a lightning sorc, you might want a corresponding sunder charm and lightning resists on charms/gear to compensate for it
    - viper not upped, the extra def, especially when not wearing a shield should provide a lot more survivability compared to a couple extra mana points
    - if you found both those staff bases legit, you either were stupidly lucky in sp (condolences for not being d2jsp viable in that case) or you just cut that part out where you edited those in as well xD
    like either of the bases would be a 3 digit number of ber runes online
    yes it's powerful
    no it's not new, you coulda done hoto, spirit, 1 soj, ended up with a bit less damage but a lot more mana from soj

    you know the weird thing about this build is that i'm not convinced it's much better than a pre-patch frost nova sorceress with the best gear. i mean you get max frost nova, max frozen orb, max blizzard, only need 1 point into cold mastery for -150% cold resists, max ice bolt, max ice blast. 1500 frost nova damage, 1500 frozen orb, 10k blizzard, 10k ice blast damage all rolled into 1 character. when you consider the changes to casting delays not sharing the same timers and a 25% damage to frost nova it will be even better. [gear suggestion, deaths fathom, nightwings veil, enigma, spirit, trang glove, 1 soj, 1 rare fcr ring, arachnid mesh, maras or crafted amulet.] you could even swap for a 15% frost nova ormus for overkill.
    the only advantage this build has is breaking certain immunities but with the standard ereapers toll, gface, fort/treachery might merc 1-2 shotting most immunes anyway the kill speed difference is miniscule in most areas (except that second baal wave that's horrid)

Being able to max Static and focus on Teleport, FCR, and Mana pools early would be huge. Maybe wield your own Insight until you can afford an Obsession, keep an eye out for some early stat-sticks to tide you over until you find both supreme 3x+3 6os/5os dream sticks. Sadly it still suffers from being a Lightning build, so demand for these items is already going to be obscenely high at the beginning of the season, and remain in high demand well through to the end of the season. Solo Sorcs are still probably better with Hydra/Blizzard until they can stack enough gear to respec into something a bit more flexible. Glad to see some 1.09 love back in action, though!

  • @Gregski3
    @Gregski3 Před 2 lety +4

    Im thinking what would be better starting sorc build for the season. Fire sorc - got leaf at the start, magefist gives +1, hydras are great for andy and meph farming
    Nova - available earlier, synergy with static, good for farming countess, good for large density

    • @breazybear
      @breazybear Před 2 lety +1

      Fire is a better start, nova doesn’t feel good with less than 200fcr or high damage output, also fire now has really good lvl 85 areas that will be very easy to clear with budget gear. Fire will also be far superior with bosses as nova has very bad single target damage even when fully geared

      Early game nova Sorcs use Static in a rotation so they really aren't any more mana heavy. Especially in Norm. Until you've got an Insight merc, every Sorc build is chugging mana pots anyways.
      This specific build would be squishy af early on (first 24 levels at least) if you only put into energy buuuut it would have a lot less mana issues. Good with a friend and for NM teleporting.
      I would say, Nova is prolly better for key/rune farming and Hydraball is better for item farming, generally. Hydraball is better in the area level 85 game, too, with the Stony Tomb, Drifter Cavern, Icy Cellar addition. Until you have Infinity, that is.

    Really cool build! However, I'd like to see a test of this on the realms, because latency really screws up teleport once you get into the high FCR breakpoints. My paladin at 125 FCR (9 frames) gets that quite frequently. If I went for a 200 FCR (7 frames) sorc, this issue would become ridiculous and unplayable. I really hope Blizz will fix some of these latency issues, because as is, their servers simply don't respond fast enough to the client for this to be possible online.

      Yes infinity+insight works very well too (even now without the synergy dmg from static). But 200fcr is just soo much fun :D I highly suggest going for or at least trying it out (easy to do with wizzy or suicide branch) if you try a nova build.

      200fcr with Obsession or 105fcr with Infinity?

    • @clouds5
      @clouds5 Před 2 lety

      @@markmauk8231 I'd say that depends on the situation. At a certain point regular mobs will die with 1-2 novas, in P1-3 anyway. So at that point more fcr technically wins because you become more efficient teleing and killing. I use it situational. Like for keys/cows there is nothing better than 200fcr. But for tc85 runs etc I use 105fcr with almost 400mf (again p1-3).
      But if you're talking high players settings, LIs become a problem. Broken LIs still have a lot of resistance so for those mobs anything with -res will be a big improvement no matter what breakpoint. In those situations infinity or even crescent moon (-35lres I think) is huge. But then again cows don't have a lot of resistance so adding more absolute dmg is better (don't know the exact numbers but you get the point).
      Overall obsession with the right base will probably be a little better than hoto+spirit or wearing infinity (with Obsession +2/20fcr amu is a must and those are rare). But as soon as broken LIs are involved, infinity gives a full 55%dmg on top of everything compared to a couple hundred (?) more absolut dmg (from +skills), that still gets reduced heavily by the resistance of broken LIs.
      I think it's great design because it's a complex system and you have a few different options that all work great depending on the situation.
      For me personally I'll probably keep using a second element to solve the LI problem (atm Blizzard but hydra should be good!) and use 200fcr because it feels great. And then 105fcr/400mf for some of the fastest p1-3 solo runs.

      Infinity is essential. So there is no super cheap alternative unless you have a paladin friend with conviction (which is the most popular aura in the most popular build of 2.4, the fohdin). Probably have to stick to 105, because 2/20 amulets arent reasonable at reset. 3 pc tal with spirit, shako, and occy/hoto/eschutas, or full tals. Gloves could be frosties, mage fist, or chancies. Boots are silkweave or marrowalks. Rings natures peace and dwarf star both have decent integer damage reduction to help es.

    Ber runes are not optimal because Energy Shield does not use resists and damage to life is low. Sol runes are better when damage instance is below 87.5 which is almost always with Energy Shield, and especially with weaken.
    With these adjustments you would have to drink mana pots more often, but it's not like it is a piano build to worry about it.
