  • How to make a phone call (among other things!) from the headset. This basically pulls up the voice assist ability of your phone (ie "Siri", "Google Voice", etc.) then you tell your phone what you want it to do.

    I have a PackTalk Black. I use the half helmet Microphone kit. Even though I get a lot of wind noise, I can hear music great. It's actually outstanding for music. Even while riding between 70 and 80mph, I can lightly speak into the mic and it has no issue recognizing Siri and voice commands. I make phone calls using Hey Siri and the person I call can hear me fine. They can't believe how good that I sound even with the half helmet mic. I can barely hear their voice while traveling at highways speeds, but music is loud before I am talking on the phone. The music stops when I make a call too. When I am going slow, like 30 mph, I can hear their voice loud and clear. Great channel BTW.

      Thanks for the comment and the only thing that comes to mind is this: Our phones have different volumes for different things; music, phone calls, bluetooth, etc. It's normal for the music to stop during a phone call, but you should be able to hear the call at the same volume that your music was at. While off the bike, put your helmet on, get your phone connected, and have someone call you with your phone still in your hand. Once you answer the call, THEN make sure your phone volume is all the way up. Very likely that the phone has an independent volume for phone calls that are coming through a bluetooth connection (which is the case here) and it just needs to be turned up. Hope that helps!!

      Hey there! As far as I know, the "main" speed dial is the only one you can activate remotely (either by using the button on the headset or the "Hey Cardo, Speed Dial" voice command), the other speed dials seems to be just for convenience if your phone is mounted in front of you and you're using the app as a remote control. Hope that helps (and I hope I'm accurate on that)!!

The speakers in the helmet or mic neither one are connected. If I just dial from my phone or recieve a phone call it works fine thru the helmet.
    This is the only feature that isn't working for me. All cardo commands and Google commands activate what they should. Just Google phone call only thru phone. I've tried everything I could find on it. Any ideas?

    I'm proud owner of Packtalk Bold. It is great, but one issue makes it uncomfortable to use. My iPhone is set to use Siri in Russian (all other menus are in English). Cardo is set fully in English (because Cardo's Russian sucks, sorry for that). Problem is: in such combination 'Privet Siri' does not work. Only if I set my Bold's menu to Russian 'Privet Siri' activates Siri in my iPhone. Is there a way to call Siri in Russian, while Bold is set to English?

      Crap. Okay if it's me here's what I'd do: delete the pairing to my phone and re-pair the two back together (I don't know why, but sometimes that just works magic). THEN, I'd check the position of my mic to make sure it's not TOOOOO close in that my breathing is keeping the connection to Siri open and thus not 'entering' the command. Has to be something small like that going on, just have to figure out why it's staying open...
      I hope one of the two does the trick man!

    I have regular Packtalk and have strange behavior with Siri. When you push phone button that call Siri, first bip comes fine, but second “Dudu” comes really painfully LOUD. I asked cardo, they suggested me to lower volume during this “dudu”, but when I do this I can badly hear phone call. Once I raise volume up to hear phone, this Dudu comes loud again. But music level from iPhone via a2dp is good and I don’t need to raise / lower it all the time, it’s just with Siri and phone call. In firmware 3x there were ability to tweak sound level for each source, but not in 4x. Did you faced such behavior on your older unit? Any suggestions how to fix it? Packtalk with latest firmware, did reset (via 3 buttons), iPhone 7 Plus with latest iOS.

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 5 lety +2

      @@Igizeh Thanks! Okay so I'm not sure this will help but it's worth a shot. First off it sounds like you're doing everything right, something just needs to be tweaked. Couple things: both the phone AND the Packtalk have different volume settings for different things. Each "source" has it's own independent volume for the most part. Focusing on the phone (I have iPhone as well)- when it's paired to a Bluetooth headset (of any kind), it has "Bluetooth headset" volume, and a Phone call will have a different volume setting than Music (A2DP). What I would do is make sure all aspects of your phone are turned all the way up when paired to a Bluetooth Headset (in this case Packtalk), this way you have FULL control of volume from the Paktalk, which ALSO is treating each source independently for volume. To do so, connect it to the Packtalk, and start with playing some music. Turn the phone's volume all the way up. Then, make a phone call, and turn the phone's volume all the way up. Then, go through some ringtones and while they are playing, make sure that volume is all the way up as well. From there, focusing now on the Packtalk-side-of-things, you know your "source", in this case your iPhone, is completely maxed out. The roller wheel on Packtalk will adjust the volume of whatever is going on at that moment. So I would try it out from there, see if things have equalized a bit, and make any adjustments from the roller-wheel if need be... I hope that makes sense and helps out a bit!

      If you click the “Mobile” button on Packtalk (the lower button with phone icon) that should pull up your phone’s “voice dial” ability, assuming it has that. The Hey, Siri and Ok Google Voice Commands of Packtalk Bold will likely not work due to it not being iPhone/Android...but the physical button click should do the trick!!

    I was riding to day and every time I said Hey Siri it would answer back Hey Siri, but it didn't matter what else I tried it did nothing...with 1 exception. Once I stopped at a stop sign, with no other vehicles around and said "Hey Siri Play Panorama" and it worked. I tried it later in the same situation trying to call someone and nothing happened.

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 5 lety +1

      Hmmm. First off, I think Siri is working while stopped because your phone is hearing your ACTUAL voice (instead of through the headset) and it's activating Siri. BUT, it should be working through the headset for sure so here's my thoughts:
      -When the Cardo says "Hey, Siri" back to you, that's a good sign that the Natural Voice system is at least hearing your command...so that's good.
      - Are you waiting for the Siri "tone" before asking it to do something? You will want to do this. After the Cardo says "Hey, Siri" back to you.....wait unitl you hear the familiar "doong doong" noise that siri makes, and only then begin to speak to it.
      -Pullup siri using the Cardo headset and while siri is "listening" make sure the volume is up on the phone and the Cardo. Both devices have specific volumes for each other, and if they're too low, you'll never hear the "doong doon" in order to know when to begin speaking.
      -Try doing it with the helmet on and the phone in your hand (but don't speak tooo loud, you don't want to the phone itself to be triggered by your actual voice reaching it). Say "Hey, Siri" to the Cardo, it will repeat it, and you SHOULD see siri pullup on your phone's screen. Ask it something, and see if she does it. If so, it's just a matter of getting your volume levels right and waiting for that "siri tone" before you beginning asking it something.
      I hope that makes sense and helps out!!

      @MotoGeekFreak  Před 3 lety +1

      Does your work for you in the house? Just curious because if so then that means there's not a problem with the system...which is a good thing. At speed, and I came across this EXACT same thing, it could very well be due to talking too loud. Before I go there, make sure you have that mic directly in front of your mouth-- and if you're using the boom mic, make absolute sure that the little yellow arrow is facing your mouth. That's crucial. Okay, back to speed. What I mean is at 70, i found myself yelling "HEY CARDO, MUSIC ON!"...nothing. "HEY CARDO, VOLUME UP!"...nothing. I was yelling because it's loud as h*ll in my helmet at 70 and it was just natural. As soon as I started just talking in a "normal volume" voice...bam. Success rate shot up to like 95%. Sorry for the novel, but try saying the commands a normal volume, even though you can barely hear yourself, and that SHOULD do the trick. Good luck and hope that helps.
