    Be careful, Brian. You're cutting it really close. If you keep pushing the window like this, then you're going to eventually release the breakdown if the injury before the injury happens. Remember, in this universe that doesn't normally happen.

      I like watching his breakdowns but he's also been way off at times. I remember he was one of the few that didn't think Aaron Rodgers injury was an Achilles, and it gave me falso hope. He also thought LeBrons foot injury wasnt that serious last year when he hurt it against the Mavs but it ended up being a torn ligament that derailed him the entire season. I wasn't mad that he was wrong, I was just sad because it gave me false hope

    Hoping, as you say, there is no tendon damage for Tyrese. He’s having the best season of his career and you’d hate to see it come to such an abrupt stop after all the hard work he has clearly put in over the offseason.

    We have to keep in mind he's a very flexible athlete and that may have saved him from a serious injury I would like to think. The team said, "Hamstring Strain." Hopefully that's all it really is. Dude is playing like and absolute monster this season. #GoPacers

    • @Trixter1771

      They have to say something like @trixter said.... I was there, he was in extreme pain. could not put weight on anything. praying for him because I know how much work he's put into his craft. All the hard work had paid off and then the floor was slippery. Earlier in the game he also slipped and fell hard, he was not happy and had to walk it off and even told his coach about it (the slipperiness). After that, the floor cleaning kid was really working hard with that large flat round white pad, but it happened again. I'm guessing they will do a very deep dive into why the floor was slippery. I thought he was really hurt badly the first time he slipped because it happened close to me and I had to cringe when it happened.

    Any real hooper knows it was his shoes because the Kobe 9 has a hard interior and exterior heel (due to the drop-in midsole design). Basically if you get low enough and make a Kyrie-like shifty move the hard part of the heel makes contact with the court. Because there is no grip on that part (it’s just smooth and literally rock hard) it’ll happen every single time if not careful. This is why shoes started coming out with curved outsoles with grip, to prevent things like this.
    Every Kobe 9 wearer, to some degree, has probably experienced something similar (if they get shifty). A few minutes before this incident he slid on that exact same spot of the shoe, at a different part of the floor (doing a very similar move with his foot). This proves that it wasn’t the floor but rather the location of where he placed his foot relative to that outside shell.

I hate to see it when one has to go out of the game, realizing that the ability to run and pivot, essential for effectiveness, has been severely impacted... Well, it doesn't feel good. They could be out for months, the entire year, and beyond. One slip, and you're out of the league, buddy. It's a business.

      You can only do so much to prevent this type of injury due to the mechanism that caused the injury. There will be tension on the hamstrings, especially with this level of athlete. It's a double edged sword - tight hammies make them fast, but also can predispose one to a strain. Plus you can't necessarily stop someone from slipping on a court during game play.

    The available body of research indicates that overstretch hamstring strain injuries (HSIs) can be particularly severe relative to running-induced HSIs. Brooks et al. (2006) reported that the average return to play time for 164 professional rugby players after experiencing a HSI was 17 days, but athletes who sustained an overstretch HSI specifically while kicking typically returned after 36 days. Askling et al. (2013) found that 75 elite soccer players, on average, returned to play 32 days after a running-induced HSI and 59 days after an overstretch HSI occurring from high kicking, glide tackling, or landing in a split position. Askling et al. (2006) examined the time required for self-reported athletic performance to return to pre-injury levels for 18 elite sprinters who experienced a running-induced HSI and for 15 professional dancers who suffered an overstretch HSI while performing a split. While sprinters reported to return to pre-injury performance typically 16 weeks later, dancers reported to return to pre-injury levels a startling 50 weeks after the split-induced HSI. One dancer even retired 17 months after the injury because of how resistant it was to healing. These findings indicate that the deleterious effects from an overstretch HSI are clearly longer lasting than those from a running-induced HSI. Furthermore, research has also indicated that a split-induced overstretch HSI may require even longer recovery time than a kick-induced HSI. Askling et al. (2008) assessed athletes from a wide variety of sports who suffered an overstretch HSI. Of the five athletes who suffered a HSI while kicking, four returned to sport in 15 weeks on average, and one retired as a result of the injury. Of the 14 athletes who suffered a HSI while performing a split, five returned to sport in 49 weeks on average, and nine retired as a result of the injury.

      i think it has to do more with the basketball floor than shoes. Why do they have to be so smooth and slippery, a slightly rough finish would prevent slips and falls.

    • @jrdatrackstar
      @jrdatrackstar Před 4 měsíci

      It is the shoes. The Kobe 9 has a hard exterior because it is a drop in midsole. This used to happen to me when I played in mine if you get low enough and make a Kyrie like move because the carbon fiber part of the midsole/outsole makes contact with the court. There is no group on that part of the outsole so it’ll happen every single time if not careful.
      If you watch the previous time he slid at the same exact same spot on the shoe at a different part of the floor, proving that it wasn’t the floor but the location of where he placed his foot.
