I agree, the perfect content
@@davobandsHELL YEAH!!!
@@davobandshope your channel grows from the series the videos are solid 👍. I started playing these souls games recently and now already finished through 4 of them. Addicting af ! Environments and enemy AI are excellent.
“As long as the final boss isn’t a watchdog I should be fine”
Yep definitely.
You should definitely keep in the catacombs and caves!! All of us have already seen the bosses numerous times, it's your exploring that is the new fun thing to watch!
alright, sorry I timelapsed this one though... I'll start making sure I leave them in my future videos
@@davobands ah no worries! It's just that, there are a lot of cools things that hides themselves in these small areas. And some of these places have very interesting designs or puzzles.
Yes, watching you explore is exciting to watch! I vote you keep it in as well!
@@davobandshey man, it's all good. Catacombs in the early game (and a few in the late game) are pretty boring. They'll start to pick up, and you'll start finding some fucked up ones where bosses will jump you two at a time, and one that has a looping hallway effect, where you have to play extremely close attention to the layout in order to beat it. Keep at it.
Plus it ends up being more content in the end
Might be the most enjoyable elden ring series i've ever seen.
2:20 “The Watchdog wasn’t one of the hard bosses???” 😂
Not only that, they’re REGULAR ENEMIES in the later game.
Not going to lie as a regular enemy they really are a pain in my ass
To be fair, I think it's odd to place the Watchdogs as such an early beginner boss. They're rather unorthodox for their jumpy, Super Nintendo-style movements, so it does seem like a weird boss to throw at beginners when they're just learning to read enemies. Could easily see someone consider the Watchdogs to be much harder than the other beginner bosses.
@@Longknife I mean, they bait you with Sentinel right at ground zero...
Where are theu regular enemies i dont remember that in my last playthrough?
The "ignore till level 40" is just a suggestion, not a hard and fast rule. Especially since some really fun weapons have stat requirements. You can always re-spec later so don't worry. (More HP means more room for mistakes, which is helpful, but endurance means more stamina and the ability to wear better armor. Dex and Strength mean more damage and access to better weapons, Mind means more FP, which means more uses of your skills like 'Unseath' and let's you summon better Spirits. Faith, Arcane and Intelligence are for magic builds, but Arcane makes enemies drop more loot. So pretty much no level ups are wasted)
Some of the catacombs and dungeons are pretty similar, but most are worth exploring for the good weapons and upgrade materials. If they get boring you are 100% allowed to skip them or save them for later.
The fact that both catacombs you've visited had a burial watchdog at the end is just coincidence and doesn't mean that every one has one of them at the end.
Most catacombs feature other bosses. Those other bosses may not be completely unique, but there is quite a big variety.
There are a few more watchdog fights as well, but they are always slight variations of the basic watchdog. Some even have unique attacks.
I'm just telling you this, so you don't get discouraged to wander into more catacombs because while not as amazing as some of the other parts the game has to offer, most of them are much more unique than the two you discovered. This watchdog gank in particular is actually one of the more unfair fights in the game, so don't worry about the rest being the same.
W comment
Yeah I'm on my 5th playthrough, did the duo watchdog fight for the first time and man they were annoying!
THIS
Keep those catacomb moments coming.
Especially when there will be ones, with hidden rooms, walls, etc.
isn't there like 5 watchdogs in total or something, including that broken ahh one in the snowland
Upgrading your weapons are super important.
There's special "catacombs" for upgrading materials
Not to mention Ashes of War, a lot of people tend to not use them much from what i've seen despite the fact they're insanely cool and powerful.
Yeah the bosses will get harder, but the game is paced well. You'll be ready as long as you take your time, explore, and dont rush the main story.
looking forward to it
*The game is paced well until Leyndell (if you exclude the Subterranean areas). 😂Everything from the Forbidden Lands hits like a truck even over lvl 150.
@@BenefitCounterbench lol Leyndell is a skill check for sure.
Those bloody lightning knights 2 shooting you from 7 directions
@@jeffers0315 Leyndell itself (excluding subterranean area) I find pretty okay, save a couple enemy clusters, but yeah, post Leyndell, ick. I REALLY hope when the DLC comes out that they retweak the damage values, you should not get 2-shot by standard enemies while wearing decent armor with 40+ vigor. If the DLC itself keeps that trend, I will legit refund it, which is sad because I love all the Souls games, but I can't endorse that sort of lazy, artificial difficulty.
You're actually one of the only guys that actually explore the damn game in all the playthroughs I've seen, you take your time and that's really cool.
Keep exploring, find new stuff, you'll have a lot of surprises and one day you'll become Elden Lord
also recomment u to watch bluelizardjello then as well . . . he has finished his game and loves to explore and actually read the item descriptions
Here’s a little quality-of-life tip:
When you click the Options/Menu button, you can look to the right of the screen and find 6 inventory slots, with 4 of them having a directional button assigned to them.
If you equip an item to these slots, then by holding Triangle/Y and clicking the appropriate directional button, you can use that item without fiddling with any menus.
It’s especially convenient for the horse since you’ll be going on and off of it very often, so having a dedicated bind is game-changing.
Some more tips:
- You can hold down on the d-pad for a couple seconds to go back to the first item on your hotbar without needing to cycle through. Avoids accidentally cycling past it.
- I always put my red flask in the first hotbar slot. Blue flask goes on the Y + left quick slot. This way I have access to both flasks without needing to cycle through my hotbar.
- I put the horse in Y + down. Favorite spirit ash goes in Y + right. The mixed physick David was wondering about goes in Y + up.
- I put the lantern and telescope in the fifth and sixth quick slots, which don't map to any buttons so you have to open your menu to access them. For some reason, I prefer this to putting them on my hotbar. Probably because I kept cycling past the item I wanted to use and had to cycle back around again.
advice, read the description of items more often, for example, a turtle shield passively behind your back increases the speed of stamina recovery, and there is also a lot of lore in the item descriptions if you are interested in it, and the game has night bosses that appear only at night, but it’s quite difficult to randomly stumble upon them
The turtle shell shield increases your stamina recovery rate. It is a great shield to throw on your back for the effect and never use to actually block.
Damn! You’re editing these quick! Don’t overwork yourself! :)
Great video again dawg🙏🏽

I'm sorry hehe :')
@@taida8511 No worries haha, glad we all coming together to support this channel! Man’s great 😊
Some more tips:
You can upgrade your weapons before lvl 40 but be careful of using smithing stones above 5th tier because they get really rare even in late game.
The game does not have quest markers or logs so either write down the quest giver’s name and the location they want you to visit or look up the quest guide for steps. There are many locations and bosses that are easy to miss if you don’t carefully listen to the quest giver.
Your weapon the katana does bleed buildup damage. When attacking with such a weapon you fill the enemies bleed bar. When full you automatically deal 10% of their max hp. Bleed buildup gets boosted with higher level weapons and a higher arcane stat, but unless you plan on doing a full katana build you shouldn’t worry about leveling anything other than vigor just yet.
Other common buildups consist of poison, rot, frost and fire damage each having different effects and are resisted by certain enemies.
Most common builds are: Dex katana build who benefit from fast combo attacks often with statuses like bleed. Strength poise builds using heavy weapons and heavy attacks to deal a lot of damage and break stances but attacks are slow. Intelligence magic builds. Often ranged attacks (probably the easiest and in my humble opinion are more fun with your second playthrough )
Of course there are many more builds and you don’t have to do what someone else tells you to do. I personally used a katana for my first playthrough but I’m also having fun changing my build up in new game +. Maybe try some different weapons on lower enemies and see what fits you best
Some further combat tips: heavy jump-attacking is a great way to deal lots of damage and is best used for quickly closing distance for a single punishing attack on a enemy.
2nd never have your back turned to a group of enemies
3rd do not underestimate talismans, talismans are some of the biggest damage boosters in the game, especially when you find the right one.
4th in your inventory you’ll see the scaling of your weapons with letters from D to S rank this shows you what stats are best upgraded dor a certain weapon, scaling levels also get better when the weapon is a higher level (be aware that scaling isn’t always consistent)
5th you usually only respawn at a site of grace however with certain bosses like the Erd tree avatar there is a stake of Marika nearby indicated by an icon in you top left. If you die near a stake you can instead choose to respawn there, but you cannot level up or skip the time at these places.
General tips:
The wind beams you find across the land can be used to power jump with torrent allowing you to scale cliff walls, but they also negate all fall damage if you jump onto them from a high ledge(when on horse only)
Pressing the “roll/dodge” button while on torrent allows you to sprint dodge which can be great when running towards giant archers or artillery.
The map can tell you many this for example an orange circle/smudge indicates a mineshaft dungeon or if you haven’t discovered the map for a certain area yet you can see where the map part is located by looking for an obelisk symbol on the grayed out map. You can also see churches on the map (unique building layout) always go to the churches to get another sacred tear
I am aware that this might be a lot and it is fine if you choose to ignore it. At the end of the day you should play how you like and figuring stuff out is half the fun. Anyway keep up the great content I hope to see more of it.
GOATED series , keep it up unc 🙏
UNC IS CRAZY BRO HUH
0:15 Hello mr Davobands. I just wanted to say. Of course there is tons of support, not only because the game itself is fantastic, but also because i dont know why but this channel despite being relatively small, feels amazing, fresh, and pretty well done. Your charisma combined with your way of being and the attention and passion you got into the games you showcase and play. Makes you one if not the only youtuber that is small and actually makes me smile and motivates me to watch every single of their videos. Hopefully you enjoy making these videos as much as i enjoy watching them. Ill stay here watching your elden ring videos every single time you upload. Enjoy the game its quite the ride, and keep doing what you are doing :)
I never get tired of watching people get snatched up in transporter traps, it's always hilarious!! 😂
That feeling that you get after beating bosses or discovering new places is the reason why a lot of us play these games so I'm glad to see that you're enjoying it too! 😁
My friend actually told me where to find the twinblade when 1st started playing failing to mention the trapped chest in the same ruin, I was like lvl 5. I was like "you asshole you sent me to a trap!" He died cackling maniacally.
@@morrisklunder519 sounds like a reliable pal 😂 everyone needs a friend that will lead them right to traps just to sit back and laugh at the chaos that follows 😁
Your intuition is really good. Usually most new players walk right to the next objective only the be flattened by an early game boss, that you could reach within just a few minutes.
But you really take your time to explore which is really fun to watch! Your editing is really fun as well, and I can't believe just how quickly you're putting these out.
Can't wait to see your first experience with the bigger and grander encounters and environments!
You're doing really well for a first playthrough!
Btw its true that hp should be prioritised but do upgrade your offensive stats and weapon too.
Strength for hard hitting heavier weapons
Dexterity for faster hitting light weapons( like the katana you're using)
Intelligence for magic
And faith for holy magic
And dont skip dialogue, some npcs have great voice acting!
Read item descriptions too! Many have cool lore in them
And if you're using a melee playthrough don't neglect a few points towards endurance every now and then they might seem small but can be life-saving
Oh man rip when you get to caelid also great vid reminds me of the days I would come home from middle school and watch a let’s play of mark or jack I subbed and I hop your channel grows to be one of the next greats

The big rock thing with the bell will help you in the future because after you kill a main boss you can choose either a weapon or spell/incantation from killing the boss but if you go to the rock thing you can get both the weapon and spell/incantation
I finished elden ring 7 times by now and have done pretty much everything there is to do and get and i can tell you that what youve seen so far was nothing, i will follow your journey with great interest, fellow tarnished!
Good luck, and may the grace of gold guide thee my friend!
Man i love seeing new people to souls games. Its so refreshing and fun to see people learn and grow.
I wish i could turn back time and re-experience everything for the first time again. Nothing matches it
A timelapse of the catacombs until the boss would be nice. There are some really unique ones tho, that i'd like to see in full. You'll know once you get there 😊
Pro tip: when you have undiscovered piece of map you can see this weird marked spot on the map that contains the map, also if you see this black hole with red/yellow outer ring on the map it means there is a mining cave there (unfortunately you cant find caves and catacombs this way these you gotta actually look around for)
You're doing very well for a first playthrough. You definitely have a much better grasp over the mechanics than i did the first time around. Keep it up bro
38:12 thats one great shield, just having it on your back it make you has a better stamina regeneration boost
A physick is a flask you get (I forget where) where you can combine effects like how you have, you could basically make it an extra heal, make it into something that buffs certain stats and attributes, or both. Also, when you “duplicate a remembrance”, when you defeat major bosses you get items called remembrances, which can be exchanged for armour or weapons the boss used, or spells depending on the remembrance. There’s usually 2 options and you can only choose one, or you bring it to the turtle thing with the castle on it and make a second one
I highly suggest experimenting with the weapons you found. You don't really need to upgrade them until you go to the castle in the north of the area or go to an area east of Limgrave. One of my personal favourites is the claymore you picked at castle Morne. It's ability is great. You can also change them at the sites of grace in the ashes of war section.
Btw dont worry about the getting to lvl 40 vigor. If you ever find a weapon that looks sick just go for that. And you dont have to worry about commiting to a single weapon or build because a bit later in the game you can reallocate your stats. Keep up the good work man❤
Congratulations on the success of your new content 🥳
Thank you!!
Pro tip: to the right of where you start the game, there’s a big lake, there are some ruins there with an underground chamber that has a chest, it contains the moonveil, one of the best Katanas in the game, make sure to check it out
Most useful comment here, couldn't agree more. He needs to check that out, it will be a game changer😂

Hey man, very entertaining videos. Reminds me of my first playthrough of this game hahaha. Keep going, you're doing very well!
Some lil' tips:
- You can equip the spectral steed whistle in the pouch (Start button -> top right corner). It's then activated by holding down triangle or Y and then pressing in the direction with the D-pad. Easier than having it in the Quick Item menu, imo
- You can hop off from torrent by pressing LS/L3, than you don't have to switch to the whistle in the quick menu. Easy
- These small black holes with an orange border that you can see on the map are mines. You can find upgrade materials for your weapons there
- And yeah, keep the catacombs in. The layout changes every time, with new mechanics, labyrinths, different enemys/bosses etc.
I'll keep watching and I'm looking forward for more Elden Ring content. Greetings from Germany :)
Im happy your pumping these out im genuinely enjoying myself watching them! Keep it up my boy

Some people are against summoning, but when the game ganks you with multiple enemies use all your tools to smack them down hard.
BTW .. Demi Human ashes are very good early game as you get 5 helpers.

Hey ! Just leaving this for the algo, but also :
-great editing, very dynamic and compliments your humor
-catacombs can be kinda samey but many are very different or introduce new mechanics, and most have pretty good rewards so cutting it down to the interesting parts may be best
-for the success, congrats on your channel picking up speed ! we're all in for the Elden Ring playthrough, so you're getting the elden ring community in ! be aware tho, it's a good way to up your channel but don't be trapped in one type of content because of the audience if you don't feel like it, that's a surefire way to burnout.
Good luck to you !
From start to finish, I can tell that you gonna love this game and it’s gonna be peak content
This is so entertaining I love your videos theyre just perfect to watch. Keep it up my guy you got this. I just really hope you won't abandon this game would really like to see it through. Still waiting for you to get to the main bosses but no rush. theyre not that hard😁😁
attack damage hierarchy from most damage to least :
special attack (mana required )
heavy attack
jump attack light + heavy ( + poise damage : each ennemy has a hidden poise meter , once it breaks you they fall to their knees and you get a critical attack chance )
running attack light + heavy
light attack
also , you're a samurai , that means you do bleed damage , to increase the amount of bleed damage you need to put points into arcane , increasing it also allows you to later use bleed incantations and some of those come in very handy
also , evry ruin on the map has an underground entrance , if you cant find it it means its hidden behind a secret illusionary ground , you have to either roll on it or hit it with the sword , look it up on youtube to know what to look for , as well as an example of an illusionary wall ! sometimes entire massive areas hide behind them and you wouldnt know
Absolutely loving these videos, keep it up!!
Seeing an authentic 1st play through sine the initial lauch was dope and your reactions are priceless😂
Just discovered you through my fyp. I really enjoy your content, with consistent, good quality uploads of 1 hour each video, you are amazing bro. Hope you do a full playthrough
24:00 All I've gotta say is, holy hell that was *_CLEAN_*
I didn't find this area until after I'd hit level 50 and that Misbegotten smoked me a dozen times before I beat it.
I was using the Tentacool spirit ash at the time (I hadn't used the wolves in ages by that point), and a poisonous jellyfish just wasn't good at either DPS or Tanking, and I was _also_ caught up in my own BS trying to fight a spastic lion-monkey with a crossbow.
Congrats on taking down a pretty difficult boss with minimal fuss!
FromSoft bosses are the epitome of "easy first try, impossible second try." If you get too panicked or in your own head, you start backpedalling, and you can't beat a boss by dodging alone. You kept cool (which isn't the same as calm, lmao), stayed focused, and got the win easy. Keep up the good work!
It makes me so happy seeing you play it’s like re living the first time I played it😅 also I would suggest explore as much as possible and clip up some funny or rage filled moments from exploring and levelling up and then have a big segments for main stuff like boss fights and finding key items and new areas or side quests
Can't wait to see you fight the first main quest boss, it's gonna be epic!
Definitely keep the caves and catacombs in the video, those are fun to watch, mostly because they have the best traps. Tips if you need: if you feel like there should be a grace around you, keep looking there probably is. Look at every single weapon you get in case you want to use it. You will be able to change your stats somewhat soon so dont feel like you just have to level HP. Read more descriptions.
Also you beating these bosses first try is actually impressive as hell, most people struggle
Great content. Looking forward to seeing progress! Good luck with the bosses :)
I recommend demi human ashes as they summon a lot of helpers. also go back to limgrave instead of weeping peninsula. explore the shoreline and you might find a church with a physick bottle.
Personally i would like to see the catacombs and the boss, exploring and searching for the leaver is fun. Boss at the end is not always the same so seeing your reaction to them is what im looking for. Great vids, very refreshing :)
This play through gonna be fun as hell to watch, my mans entertaining and intuitive 👏
it's always funny to see people's first impressions of a game they love.
for the catacomb i think if you do a few short clips until the boss and then show a few attempts at the boss would work pretty fine
I honestly didn’t even realize how few videos you have! That’s incredible! Keep it up!

Your editing is hilarious! I love watching new players experience one of my favorite games of all time. I'm subscribing to see more for sure!
Loving the playthrough so far bro! Keep up the uploads and we’ll keep tuning in
Awesome series, glad to see a new player pick up the game and demolish some of the early game mini bosses. Use your Ash of War often brother, you can swap and mix around more that you find around the world that do a wide range of abilities from buffs to weapon skills. (And later on you can swap around weapon affinities too, but you'll figure out about that later. Lol) Keep up the good work!
Love your playthrough, its a lot of fun to watch and I'm looking forward to the future episodes.
I'd just like to say about the ashes that they often turn the game into easy mode. They basically draw all the aggression of bosses in and allow you to attack relatively uninterrupted.
While there's nothing wrong with using them I would advise you to try out the boss without them at first and then judge for yourself, if you actually need them to beat the boss. I heavily relied on summons in my first play through and only realized in my second play through on how much fun I missed out on with certain bosses by not using them.
bro you are actually crazy good at this game for someone new. you keep making these videos and i'll keep watchin em
always keep the catacombs in
Vigor might be important, but don’t focus purely on it. Better weapons require higher stats, so outside of Vigor (HP), Mind (FP/magic), and Endurance (Stamina and carry capacity), build one or two stats up so you can deal a bit more damage. For samurai, the dexterity is already high, so I’d focus on that. You can check which stat a weapon scales with by looking at some of the intimidating numbers on the right side of the screen.
Katanas and spears are typically dex weapons, but some of my favorites (Vyke’s War Spear or the Dragonscale Blade) also scale with faith.
I wouldn’t put stat points into more than two weapon scaling stats unless you need to for a weapon requirement. Put a few into endurance and mind since endurance lets you carry heavier items and mind gets your FP (mana) up. Don’t make it as high as vigor, though, since that’s far more important. For mind and endurance, you should probably stop at around 20.
Here’s some more useful tips:
Sorceries and Incantations are different things. Sellen was selling sorceries, which scale with intelligence and require a staff. Incantations require a seal, and mainly scale with faith.
You can’t cast incantations with a staff, and you can’t cast sorceries with a seal.
My personal favorite build is dex/fai, but you should experiment and find cool weapons you want to build over.
Arcane, if you’re curious, scales weapons with status effects. Bleed, for example, does a large portion of the enemy’s health every few hits. It’s on your Uchigatana, and many dex weapons have bleed already.
I think this is the perfect pace for your playthrough in terms of editing. Showing every interesting thing that happens but still editing a bit works the best.
yo the pacing and edits of your videos surprise me a lot man, for the quality i'd expect a lot more subs. hope you grow your channel from here on out
Enjoyed the whole vid bro, cool series keep it up
It's been so nice watching a fresh playthrough. I can't wait to see the rest when you decide to release.
And as for catacombs, its understandable if you fast forward through some. They can get a tad bit repetitive. Some do have some great puzzels and uniqueness to them though, so it would be cool to see them if you feel like it. Haha
this is some of the most genuine gameplay I've seen from anyone

Loving the series so far, keep it up bro, shits fire🔥❤️
Love your videos!
There's nothing that feels like playing a souls game for the first time, so for us that have already beaten it we have to live vicariously through you. Thanks for that. I've seen many channels grow just from playing souls games the first time so I hope you see that success.
A note on summons. Since you dont use a shield and you seem like you want a good challenge, summons can ruin that. You'll be able to upgrade your summons and some summons you acquire later can trivialize bosses. Summons are the closest thing the game has to easy mode so you may want to wean yourself of them as you get further in the game if you want it to stay challenging. If your goal is to play other souls games, there are summons but not nearly as reliable or plentiful.
2:19 for context the golden knight next to the church of Elleh is a mid tier boss fight, some would consider it an early game boss so you have many more challenges on the way. Do not let it dissuade you because with every victory gets you stronger and smarter
Honestly i enjoy seeing people play through elden ring, and this being your first time is fantastic, dont worry about any back tracking and stuff like that, we all been there and me personally, i love seeing it, since stuff never goes exactly the same twice, i hope you keep enjoying the game

I think a timelaps is a nice thing for future catacombs. There can stil be funny or scary moments, but the timelaps between makes is fine to get to, without feeling like context goes out the window. I like the videos, please keep them comming 🙂

Good tip is to get the flask of wonderous physik soon. It helps a lot as a buffer or last resort in bossfights. Good videos mate keep it up
Haha your reaction to "these aren't even the hard bosses?!"
I am glad you take the time to dig into the dialogue and exploring, don't forget that lore exists within item descriptions as well, tiny little tidbits that surprisingly help tie the story together. Just like Boc's needle and thread. ;D
I'm a firm believer in giving full credit where it's due, and you, Sir, are very much due. You seem to have a genuine penchant for this game. Seriously, that Erdtree Avatar fight is no joke, especially for a first-timer, and you beat him first time out.
Yeah, you've missed some stuff: anyone who says that they didn't are full of it. I'm currently half-way through my third full playthrough, and I'm still finding locations, dungeons, bosses, etc. that I missed on both previous runs. For me, that's one of the joys of this game.
The only thing I would stress is: DO NOT let anyone else try telling you how you 'should' be playing, or that you're not playing 'properly'. Play how YOU want to play and do what you enjoy doing.
Please keep up the vids. You have a great personality, and I hope your enthusiasm and enjoyment continues for your full journey. It's gonna be a long - and often tough - one, but the experience is well worth it.
Yoooo letsgoooo, glad u keep playing this game, is always great to see newcomers to the souls game and exploring the map
Really enjoying your Elden Ring journey so far! I think timelapsing the mini dungeons that are pretty similar to each other and then doing the boss fight normal is a good idea, as they are fun to do but can get repetitive after awhile. There is a catacomb near starting area that has another uchigatana in it, which would let you dual wield them (and that's super fun to do as samurai lol)
excited for this series. love new experiences to soulsgames
