Girls take this from an 83 year old farm woman get all the knowledge you can about equipment and other survival things you can. I'm still run my own tractor with a loader attachment and have a Bobcat which is down with a bad bearing right now
Those Girls are gonna be MILES ahead of their peers !! + all this hands on operating time is absolutely fantastic !! & that it’s coming from Grampa & Great Grampa that’s 10x the memories being made there.

It would've been amusing to see Zee get back in that Bobcat and walk it out of that ditch, she was doing a great job with it. Both tracks must've been been off the ground though, sorry ladies, but a lot of us have been there, it sucks having to get out and walk, but it's part of the learning process. What surprises me the most is that the mosquitoes left you alone, maybe there aren't as many down South, up here in NY State they're a huge issue, especially in early evening. that can happen to anyone. I got one stuck next to a well once, ground was hollow next to the well from the drilling of the well; my trying to clean up the well spoils lead to me finding that hollow cavity with the machine. Had it stuck in a stump hole once too, hard on top but not enough for the machine to roll over it.
Wow, Miss Z is killing it!!! Great job. Normally, it's Miss Dub that's the first one to jump in and get her hands dirty and nails it, except for the training on the skid steer Miss Z did a little better on it lol. But I'm very impressed with these two young ladies, especially with the work ethics of this younger generation. These two young ladies are putting them to shame. WAY TO GO Miss Z and Miss Dub.
I really think tank that you're doing a wonderful job by teaching your granddaughters wonderful lessons in life that they will carry with them long beyond the years 1 Bay Ridge years of far beyond us

Look Hank, I do not know how to spell a lot of words. Kinetic energy ropes would of tugged it out or using a snatch block for the angles.... using all kinetic rope with the appropriate pully systems to get doubling power.... many ways to do the same thing. I am really trying not to sound mean at any price here. I just know if your not able to understand ways to do things, how can one teach what they don't understand themselves. Matts off road recovery is a channel you may get some ideas on how to use this type of applications. I am sure that being a logger as a kid, I got a lot of ideas on how to move heavy logs or equipment out of bad situations.

Don't feel bad. I burried a TD 25 . That was after boss told me not to drive on that soft ground. Took half day and 2 pieces of equipment to get it out .
I like that you are showing them things related to equipment! The girls and you need to breathe in everything they can. One day if they chose - when they are out there in the corporate world making deals - making millions and dealing with white collar stresses- they can look back to the summer of 2024 when they got the skid steer stuck! The funniest part was when one of them said: "you bent the cutter bar" and why can't me go get one of the 50 million of the bulldozers he's got and pull it out?

Great job to think of doing the double back on your wench, but if you only have one snatch block, I recommend getting at least one more, specifically for times like this. IF you had succeeded in starting to move the skid steer, you would not have gotten very far because the cable would have immediately gotten all stacked up on the right side of the drum and jammed there. You need to always feed the cable to the middle of the drum and that you could do by using a second snatch block attacked to the middle of the rear of your trailer.
The girls are learning amazingly quick and seem to be fearless, of course most teenagers have that trait these days.

Pull from the high side away from the machine . It would get traction that way . That would put weight on the high side and lift the stuck side . Anyway better luck next time .

Another thing if you would have pulled from the left instead of the right of the skid loader it might have helped. But maybe that was the best . I've gotten stuck plenty and the older I get the less I like it

I can remember I had to Paul bulldozer working in a big hole clean out the ditch and the bulldozer climb up the hill and I had two bullet with a Gradall and The boss hope to train the back of the Gradall for the machine does not go forward the hook to the truck of the cab and all had to pull length of the boom and bulldozer was heavy, climbing up the hill and keep going in and out shorten the chain, I was hoping the chain does not break. I know it’s pouring rain The girls in the machine did very nice job and yes, you are right. Only may they become good operators. You have to do it. I’ve done it like I like the machine that we used The mower was with of the machine track with the track one under the other same size. It did a very good job. I was a supervisor on the crew. I just looked the boys go play with them. Tell the girls they did very good job. I’m proud of them, and if they keep doing it every day, they will be very good operators maybe have a job on their side and you’re a good grandpa. You guys have a nice day. I love what you did to the change today on a trailer. Thank you.

To load and unload any machine ..there is no need for full throttle...I use my foot throttle ..skrew that set and forget ! That's how a wrong move can be really dangerous...not to mention pissing away fuel for nothing ..the only time I set throttle is using an attachment....
