Those were 8n tractors. The 9n was started in 1939. There were 2n’s that started in 1942. The 8n started in 1948 and went through 1952. 9n and 2n were 3speed transmissions with brake petals on both sides. 8n had a four speed transmission with brake petals on the right side.
We always called those trucks, pulp wood trucks! They would go in after a clear cut or thinning and cut up the leftovers up and haul to the mill. You used to be able to get a special license to drive one here in Louisiana, but not anymore. Miss seeing those trucks and the hard work men that drove them!
The round thing with week on it at 28:28 is the top to a molasses tank. They were used for cows. The cow would lick the wheels and it would bring up more molasses.
Hank, glad everyone is ok. Had a great time meeting and talking with you at the TYM event here in Maine. If you ever get up here again let me know. Still considering selling my JD and getting a TYM
Thanks for another interesting video. I think that machine you thought was what's left of a baler, is actually a swath inverter. It picks up the hay row after it's cut, flips it over so the bottoms on the top then puts it back in the row on the ground again to help the sun dry the hay moisture down before baling . Take care guys
My Dad use to do the books for a construction company and that Mac dump truck was something we use to drive around in during the late 70's and into the early 80's. Good memories
You can also tell between an 8n and 9n Ford tractors by the positioning of the brake pedal. The 9n has the two brake pedals on opposite sides, so you have a brake pedal close to your right foot and another close to your left foot. On the other hand, the 8n has both brake pedals on the right side.
Looks good. I would have gotten another tool box and put one on each side on rear like a Service truck. I think that would look good and easier access to tool .
You can get the boxes, that are similar to the ones under the bed and mount them on the sides up against the headache rack. That's how I ran mine landscaping and loved it for saws, gas cans, tools, trimmer string etc
It would seem that the company on that truck door is still in business. LeBlanc and Theriot Equipment Company in Metairie, which is near New Orleans. And yes Wiley, Louisianians do watch this channel. I'm from Louisiana, about 60 miles from Metairie. :)
The LP tractor is a Case 800 the hood reads Case O Matic which is a type of automatic transmission used in the 800s the 700 was basically the same tractor but had a standard transmission and the hood typically reads Dual-power on those
It's a pulpwood truck.thats a stif leg log loader in mid. Load the logs from the driver side to passenger side. My dad built them back in 70s. He run a large chainsaw shop here in ga
Interesting video Hank, I hope that most of the equipment gets salvaged in some way. You would think that someone could see something useful in the items shown. Hi from New Zealand.
Yes sir and they sucked for row crop work. J I Case was a long time before Case IH. When I was 15 or 16 years old I worked for a man who had one of those. It was a great tractor as long as you were going straight, but was so hard to turn around at the end of the rows. His was a wide front end and caseomatic was so slow.
I was yelling into the screen but you couldn't hear me 😂 the propane tractor is a Case. They called their torque converter drive Caseomatic so that's what it says on the hood. That place looks really cool to explore lots of cool stuff there
That bed on the truck is a pulp wood bed, better known as a short wood truck. Mills won't even allow them anymore. great video and thankful everyone is safe and sound.
Wide or narrow can be for row crop. The wide front ends can be adjusted to fit your planter. The Tricycle front end (narrow) can turn on a dime at the end of the row. They’re great on flat ground, but a real danger on slopes. I believe the big green fan is an orchard sprayer.
It is a FMC grove sprayer, also Case tractor with propane was probably converted by Pounds motor Company in Winter Garden Fl. Old man Pound put first ember tire on a tractor.
Watching this video is like walking down on the old part of my family farm, including rattlesnakes. I live in North Florida. The area here is covered with sinkholes. Every farm has a few. About 1/2 have caves. All the snakes go into them in the winter. There ARE 6 FT rattlesnakes here. Keeps you on your toes. Never step over something. Stand on and step off. Little things we learned as kids. Heads on a swivel. If it was about to get cold, " snakes are crawling". Poisonous snakes have cat eyes ( if you get that close) non poisonous have round pupils.
Thanks for the tour! Glad ol Wiley was saved by ya from that rattler!! The first Ford extended cab, the 88! They call that that the Brick Nose series. 87-91. Guessin that had the 460 big block in it! Thanks for all the awesome content!
WHOA! That was a big snake! 🐍 I'd be wishing for some snake bite proof pants. Some huge pine cones too! That first Ford ya'll looked at was probably a 1965 or 66. That is an awesome place! 👍 Looking forward to the Mack start! I'd try that IH too, the one with the cab. Thanks for sharing Hank!!
I didnt mention about my farm. It is one of the early pioneer farms here. Originally started @ 1840s. The farm went into probate after the elders died. We were allowed to take anything before it was sold off. I got a stone gristmill and a blacksmith forge, things like that. A lot of horse drawn instruments.
That's a lot of cool stuff out there. I like that old Chevy Lumina, not too many left, I'm sure it's rotted out underneath too. Love that '88 Ford extended cab too.
I don’t really know what I’m doing either. My job in the Air Force was designing and installing electronics on bases: ILS, Weather, Comm, etc. i was down at Columbus AFB at their satellite base where they land baby pilots when I saw my first poisonous snake. I’m happy here in Maine where we don’t have anything like that though one time, we were in NC and one made its way into our shipping crate and crawled out when we got home. I don’t know why todays trucks are so high because you can’t reach over the rails to get stuff out. Casomatic Drive. Good old stuff. My brother-in law has a truck like that still. Great video
That old 1976 custom deluxe 3500 Chevy that has the tree growing up trough it used to belong to my dad. In spring 1985 my dad was driving that old truck doing hotshot work cross country with a new 48’ gooseneck trailer. He had hauled a load from Los Angeles CA and he was backing into that company on the door and dad smacked the dock, and tore the rear end out of it. Dad couldn’t afford to have it towed let alone fix it, so dad sold them that truck, even though that company had all fords. The trailer he didn’t sell, my dad had his brother come down and get him and the trailer. I know for sure that is it, because the owner of that company was a die hard ford man.
The Old Ford Log Truck is a 1957 Model. 57 was the only year of single headlights back then for this series of Ford Trucks (1957-1960) all the rest (1958-1960) had 4 Headlights.
looks like a 'firewood' or short pulpwood log truck on that Ford 700 used to see them running in & out of a local paper mill when I was a kid, they also delivered firewood with them before & during Winter.😎
Hey Hank! Love your content and watch when I can as well as Dontbewily. Probably already know the trick to give your straps a twist so they don’t vibe and wear out quickly but I’m sharing just in case. Old canoe hauler trick because those vibes get to you on a road-trip.
Hey Hank. That was an awesome video my friend. I wish I lived by you guys. I would be interested in looking in there with you guys and if I had the money maybe buy something lol. Don't live close to you and don't have the funds makes it a problem. I enjoyed watching the video tho. Thanks for sharing this my friend.
A rattler bite is a life-changing event, even for a young person. When people see a rattler and talk about copperheads I wanna hit'em right square in the mouth. My .410 makes mincemeat of them.
Just a thought, but the dip in your bed where your gooseneck hitch is could be used to your advantage. Run a strap across the back and use the dip like a truck bed
The red plastic thing with the wheels is a liquid feeder for cattle. It goes over tub and the cattle lick the wheels which pulls the liquid feed up to them.
I'd love to see you guys do several "will it starts" on the stuff out there. From the big trucks to the pickups and tractors, lots of content to be had out there. Just don't do a "will it bite" with the snakes.
Not sure if anyone else mentioned it, but the 23d date on that first Ford stands for the production date. 1963 is when it was made. Does anyone know why Ford would use codes like these for the date?
That is a pulpwood truck. The wood was cut into 8 foot lengths and stacked across the frame. The little boom on top was was to load the “sticks”. Then the winch cable was thrown over the top to secure it down.
Hank, the large tank with big fan is an orchard sprayer. Took a lot of power to turn that fan.
Yeah. Deboss Garage tried to turn one into a flamethrower. Haha. Great video
Hank the large tank with big fan is orchard
The green unit you were wondering about ( one with the nozzles is a orchard sprayer. Makes spraying fruit trees so easy. Id love to have one!
Those were 8n tractors. The 9n was started in 1939. There were 2n’s that started in 1942. The 8n started in 1948 and went through 1952. 9n and 2n were 3speed transmissions with brake petals on both sides. 8n had a four speed transmission with brake petals on the right side.

Yes sir!
The sprayer is used for fruit rows such as grape vines, orange trees, apple trees and so on, absolutely a great video keep safe and keep the, coming.
Thanks for another interesting video. I think that machine you thought was what's left of a baler, is actually a swath inverter. Very fun tour of the junkyard! We saw some awesome trucks and other machines! Glad that snake didn't bite you guys!
My Dad use to do the books for a construction company and that Mac dump truck was something we use to drive around in during the late 70's and into the early 80's. Good memories
A confined area to keep your fuel and batteries from moving around would be helpful .
You can also tell between an 8n and 9n Ford tractors by the positioning of the brake pedal. The 9n has the two brake pedals on opposite sides, so you have a brake pedal close to your right foot and another close to your left foot. On the other hand, the 8n has both brake pedals on the right side.
👍
Front wheels are a dead give away. 9 and 2ns have a VW bug pattern, 8n is standard 6 lug. Rears are different too.
I was wait to see 3 ole North Florida guys draw the CWPs and put some smoke on that rattler!
That gizmo after the box truck I think is an agriculture sprayer like they use in an orange grove to spray the trees maybe?🤫
That old propane tractor is a 50s Case 800, it says Case-o-matic on the side. I paused the video and had to Google it.
Right on
And those headlights, them be Case headlights!
I knew it was a case find just the hood the way the headlights were mounted similar to the 530.
GOD BLESS YOU HANK, is that Tim GENTRY'S camper in the background 😂😂😂
58 ford..a dine a doxen in the south and midwest 8n ford..i sold one 5 years ago
That spray cart would have been used in orchards. We have them here in Australia. Cheers mate 👍
The V wheel was used mostly for cultivation but you could run down the row in between the wheels plus the v wheel could turn 360 degrees
90° left and right. They don't spin all the way around.
@@twinkie27271 our John Deere 530 has 360 degree turn
Hope you guys keep getting yhe old stuff up and running. Love your show.

Right out of the gate that has to be a pulp wood truck...grew up seeing them here in north florida run by small operators putting food on the table.;)
Thats right
i used to drive an old twin stick mack like that.
good times
good trucks!
Interesting video Hank, I hope that most of the equipment gets salvaged in some way. You would think that someone could see something useful in the items shown. Hi from New Zealand.
You two are like Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden with that snake! Be careful!
The Case is a 870 caseomatic LP . Runs off propane
The F 750 is a 63-64 and has a pulpwood rack on it. The engine is a gas powered 361.
At 41:54 that is a orchard sprayer it blows insecticide all up in the leaves they work great
Thanks guys. Central California watching
I was yelling into the screen but you couldn't hear me 😂 the propane tractor is a Case. They called their torque converter drive Caseomatic so that's what it says on the hood. That place looks really cool to explore lots of cool stuff there
I hope some of those farm tractors get restored. Pretty neat.
We got a 52 8n ford we plow with and also mow…THE most reliable ,best starting piece of equipment ever! It’s almost indestructible….
That bed on the truck is a pulp wood bed, better known as a short wood truck. Mills won't even allow them anymore. great video and thankful everyone is safe and sound.
Hank it's a pupwood loader called paperwood made out of pine trees, they would cut 6 foot long and use a cable on that too load truck with.
That thing after the GMC box truck is a sprayer they used in apple orchards.

That motorhome would be a good project for Sleeperdude.
If that snake bit Wilie, the snake would have died.
Don’t know whether someone wrote earlier, but that big fan with the spray nozzles is a fogger for an orchard. Fogs the trees with insecticide.
That's the kind of sprayer you use to spray pecan orchards the forced air blows the spray up into the trees as you pull it behind the tractor
Blue bird is out of thomasville nc and a some other places and that big fan looked like an old grapevine sprayer
It is a FMC grove sprayer, also Case tractor with propane was probably converted by Pounds motor Company in Winter Garden Fl. Old man Pound put first ember tire on a tractor.
Yup that’s a old Pecan tree sprayer a the way a rim off of a M151 mutt military keep mostly used in Vietnam
Enjoyed the tour Hank and Wiley. Good seeing Mr. Sonny again. I would have been finished looking after coming across that rattlesnake. Lol.
I hear ya.
Rattlesnake was asleep, and posed no harm.
That’s a jet blast sprayer for spraying orchards

That old Bike was still standing up leaning against that back of that truck after probably decades, Amazing
That’s an orchard sprayer used for forpea cons peach trees, orange groves
Now this is a place I would love to find. A lot of nice peaces here. Would be nice to get some of that restored or what can be restored.

No it’s not safe. I love it. If you want safe. Just stay home. I love the excitement. Roll the dice. It’s calculated you will be alright 😊

Rattle snakes more dangerous than most folks think. Good chance of losing a body limb if bitten.
A rattler bite is a life-changing event, even for a young person. When people see a rattler and talk about copperheads I wanna hit'em right square in the mouth. My .410 makes mincemeat of them.
The box above the cab on the old ford is where they stored the old Poulan bow chain saws, chains and binders
Hank what about putting tool boxes down each side? You could still pull a trailer and if you added a tailgate you wouldn’t have to tie stuff down.
Just a thought, but the dip in your bed where your gooseneck hitch is could be used to your advantage. Run a strap across the back and use the dip like a truck bed
