You are a magnet to these particular machines!
90psi on a Briggs & Straton is right where it should be.
Looks to be a Tecumseh but yes 80-90 psi at cranking rpm should be fine . They’ll run all the way down to 45-50
Many years ago my wife bought one. The front seat/floor comes out as one unit to service the drive line and many chains. It had a 7hp pull start but the gas tank was a round gas can that sat next to the engine. It floated very well and would climb right out of creeks. Each wheel has an over torque clutch to prevent chain breakage. If I remember right the “ hydraulic fluid “ was just atf. Very fun toy. It has two drain plugs in the back might want to check before swimming. Love the channel!!
7hp Briggs. Should be sealant between upper and lower body since it was designed to be amphibious. I do have a copy of the original specification sheet if you want it.
There was a 70’s show on Saturday morning they used ATV’s. It was called the Banana Splits. I’m trying to find a clip of them riding the 6x6s.
banana buggies!
I was just trying to remember the name of that show. Watched it as a kid.
Lol that show was the first thing i thought of when I saw this, got the tune stuck in my head now.

Man, haven't seen one of these since about 1990. A friend had one, it actually floated really well too. He used it for duck/goose hunting in the swamps. It had paddle tires on it and basically would go easily through anything. Nice find!
Remember seeing them advertised in the back of a popular mechanics magazine? Last time I read one of those
Was your friends Scrambler camo? And was it in Michigan?
@@Paku424 it was camo, but it was in Maryland
There was a kids show I loved back in the late 60's that used those things. I think the show was called The Banana Splits. Anybody else remember it or am I going senile?!
Anyway, another great find. You have got quite a retirement fund growing right there.
Banana Splits used Amphicats, invented/built originally in Streetsville, Ontario, Canada by Ron Behoo who was on Johnny Carson with one in the late 60s and also gave one to Ronnie Hawkins and John lennon. Google it
I was surprised that the author of the video didn't know that he has a Banana Splits buggy.

That float bowl repair is because originally it had a spring-loaded push button drain that usually leaked. Someone obviously just welded it stop it from leaking anymore.
Truth. Draining wasn't it's main function though. It was a 'tickler' to let air out and fuel into a carb that was empty.
The pug is one I've never seen before same as the scrambler very cool I really look forward to your videos
Joe I'd run that carb through the ultrasonic cleaner , I work on lawnmowers everyday and I put 20 carbs a day through my ultrasonic cleaner
I had the same exact unit 25 years ago
Sold it for 300
Dude drove it home
Haha that's awesome
Love it glad it didn’t go through the door
Wow brings back memories growing up my dad bought one and our family had great times.
Looks like it would be a blast in the snow, cool score, great fix, keep the videos coming Joe😉👍
Snow swamp or sand. Too much traction will put you in traction.
You need tracks for snow deeper than you have clearance.
I just came across this video and now the "Banana Splits" theme song will be playing in my head for the rest of the evening. A blast from the past, when I was a child, is what that thing is.
man i hope you get that pug, that thing looks so neat.
Man I tell ya these Briggs and stratton engines are the best the last 25 years or so I've owned them I never really had a problem with them and they last a long time I've got a lawn mower with a briggs on it and it's over 20 years old and it still runs great and never had to do a thing to it except oil changes and I got it for free from someone who neglected it badly and that was over 12 years ago.
TECUMSEH
KOHLER
I have a 69 4x4 Gotcha Scrambler model i bought a few.years back and did a bunch of work to it. It is almost impossible to find any information about them or parts. My buddy works at a machine shop and had to have him make some brake components for me. Got it running and working and now it just sits in the shed. But i have never seen another one since.
Definitely get that PUG, that thing was cool as hell.
They are way coom
I keep saying it but you found another cool machine. A blast from the past. Can't wait to see tge PUG.
Ya know, if you take apart that jumper box. On the circuit board you'll find a blk cylindrical thingy about the diameter of a finger, its the piezo buzzer, it'll have a small hole in the top that a small piece of ordinary scotch tape will reduce the volume of annoyance by about 50%.
The Scrambler is cool. Looks like Honda Fourtrax 300 4x4 wheels and tires with Honda Foreman 350 rears in the back? Also, buy the PUG!
Did you honestly think you were gonna buy something without taking the carburetor off?
😂
LOOKIN' GOOD, KEEP SAFE...
You made Vinnie's day, taking him for a ride with you'
All that space to walk in and... a treadmill? Seriously?? 😂😂😂
My buddy joe had a scrambler just like that when we were kids, we had a blast riding it around the swamps by us , it loves the mud , the drive chain was the weakest link
Hey, you know Joe?
I actually know a few Joe's lol
Excellent job enjoyable to see you drive 🚗 👍 😀
hey man im 58 and i have to say you are an inspiration to the mechanical world thanks and keep up the good work !
Looks hella fun, nice find 👍🏻
Banana Splits rumbler 😃 sweeet
Pretty cool got your little helper too ride with you
CAN'T HELP THINKING OF THE BANANA SPLITS AND THE LA LA LA SONG LOL
They took my Dad in one of those down our 1 mile long driveway in a blizzard, when he broke his leg. 1970. I still remember it well. Nothing could get up that steep first hill, but that thing did!
Cool vehicle. Worked out good for you. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed this.
Best part of the video is when you took the dog for a ride. I love my dog!
Used to see them at the mini bike trails around Detroit back in the sixties, early seventies always thought they were cool
Love your content Joe 👍
Scramber Score!
I assume you know that pump will siphon as well if place the pan below the tank it will suck all the fuel out.
Cool machine! Nice job getting it running
That other machine looked pretty cool that he had
I'm Soooo happy you finally took the Vinster for a ride. Awesome 👍😎
I just did a frame out restoration on a 1976 ATTEX ST400 Chief 6x6. It came from the factory with a 2 stroke 400cc Snow Mobil engine and T20 transmission. These old Amphibious machines are definitely cool!
BTW, several have commented remembering the Banana Splits' Banana Buggies. You don't have one of those. The Banana Buggies were decorated Amphi-Cats. ...But in any of these old AATVs, because the tires WERE their suspensions, the tires had to be run as soft as possible. The originals had comparatively thin cases and their inflation pressures were virtually impossible to measure with a tire gauge. ...About 1-2 psi, but they were actually checked by measuring their circumference with a tape. Even as a 70 pound kid, I remember getting a kick out of the fact that I could put my foot on one of those tires (when properly inflated) and squash it almost to its internal (6" dia?) rim flange. 😂
Thanks Joe! We tried to reach out and hold that jump pack on the machine but just couldn’t reach it! 😮😊
I wanna see it in the water!!
Perfect content.
That was awesome seeing Vinny all chillaxed in the rear seat! Glad you did that. Another very interesting video! Thanks Joe!
He loved it
The Scrambler was manufactured in Genoa Ohio by George Hyland, inventor of JOG A DOG and numerous other products you would know and love. George was a brilliant mind ahead of his time.
Seen a guy had one. Put paddle tires on it. Actually was slower in water than it was with reg tires. He moved them around so he had just 2 in front, middle, back. Made no difference. Worked better with worn out ag tires it came with. It did float great tho.
You need to run the directional treads backwards so they scoup the water. Look at the argos. I had a Prarie Bobcat that had terra tires. I thought they were on the wrong way untill i tried swiming in my pond. Barely moved forwards so after about 15 feet in i shifted into reverse and it shot backwards. So back to the shop to swap the tires backwards. It would then swim surprisingly well considering it was an all metal tank like hull and quite heavy.
The stuff you come up with is mind-boggling.. that thing is super cool.
Your wife is sooo cool. She must know that you love getting these purchases up and running.
WTF
@@speedfreak8200 WTF
The 4 wheelers and bikes are cool, but I love the oddball stuff you find and fix!
Late 70s, early 80s my dad used to make these. I remember Genoa, OH then the company moved to MI somewhere. So many memories as a kid surrounding these.
Not sure where he went in Canada but we definitely had ways to get your game out of the woods lol
We used to have 2 of those when I was a kid. A real blast.
You have those rims they are 4 wheeler rims and maybe the tires are the same size. I love your channel and you have great content.
Get a S.C.A.G mower that has a pull behind trailer for your feet it’s fun and quick 4 or 5 gears I don’t remember but when I was a landscaper it was fun and was fast it’s a little 1 wheel trailer for your feet hooked up to a big brake left and right SCAG MOWER
Excellent video, great find
Banana splits comes to mind . Showing my age!!!
Another great find, Joe! Very cool. Did you figure out what size engine it has? maybe I missed it in the video
Nice find! ✌️
The Chain Drive was a weak point on some of the newer ones.. Got one stuck on a log and blew off the chains and bent the sprockets..
Needs Argo tires to be softer riding. The steering wheel is much nicer than Argo's stick steering.
Very cool, awesome video
with today's fuel I'm surprised it even started without cleaning the carburetor
Great job!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great video as always
Hey Joe, what is the make and model of the jumper packet you are using? Thinking I’d like one like that.
JNC 660 is a very very good jump box
@@benschlack5814 thank you but I have one of those but I’d like an all-in-one
THIS little deal cool but you really need to get your hands on that Pug. i really think that machine is a hidden gem. and it being the first one, its pretty much unobtainium if you know what i mean. also it looks mint. just get the dust off her. id really think about it
This is really cool. Is it worth trying to mount the middle wheels backwards, to give them a different offset?
Pug and twister was made by Bruce manufacturing. I have a twister
Looks like it is everything I said it was. Happy to see it up and running.
your having way to much fun
Ton of good info on the inter web & optional Tracks ..... 6 paddle tires for snow sand water 💧 a Keeper Fosho 1st one I've ever seen 😳
Good job at getting it going. If you want Vinny to have fun chasing you, you have to stop and give him a treat when he catches up to you.
Lol, as soon as I saw that on marketplace I knew you would get it! Lol. Go back and get the pug!!!
Vin likes it for sure !!
What a cool machine maybe if you turn those center wheels around backwards the will stick out like the others?
My first thought was "The Banana Splits"on 1960's TV
That's one big banana.
A Minion Motorcar.
How do find these cool machines. Just spurs the question would you ever do a behind the scenes video? How you search for vehicles, criteria, research, how far you would travel, failed buys, and what you do when you part out a machine.
Ikr
The guy sounds like Jesse Ventura was waiting for him to say he spent 9 years in the navy and he now lives off the grid with a sylo full of fresh water and 14 dogs
Now you have all this grass look into getting a S.C.A.G. Mower they’re the best big mowers I spent alot of time behind one
Amazing, and love the color of it to lol
Anyone else focusing on his jumper box slowly walking it's way off the trunk, lol
we had one similar to this with a 500cc snow mobile engine in it
Damn, that sounds like a fun time. How was it?
we also used to take it in the lake..it floats...but slow in the water..haha
Congrats, another neat barn find, for sale or for keeps? Thanks for another learning moment and congrats on 323k subs, next stop 500k subs
Reminds me of the banana splits show in the late sixties.
You are the six wheeled champion of CZcams. 👍
That thing is sweet dude, here watching now I like it
That thing is awesome. The dog was loving it. Did you buy it from Jesse Ventura? Sounded a little like Jesse Ventura. You gotta go back for that Pug. I've never seen one of those before. Its crazy how quickly you get most of these vehicles running.
I was worried you were gonna go through your garage door. I kept thinking, "open the door before you start it." That's an amazing property you've got, where ever that is.
I always wanted one of these when I was a kid
Another classic. A Wisconsin version of American Pickers. Thanks again, informative and entertaining (Vinny)
I've been looking at these Allis charmers terra tiger amphibious tanks they remind me of the old moon buggys you see in the old movies like space 1999. How do you find all this wired and wonderful stuff from I use to dream about big toys like these 😊
When I was a kid my neighbor had a Terra Tiger. Never got to ride in it tho.
She’ll float or she won’t. Either way you’ll learn
That is so cool
What did the guy say about the Pug? Is he willing to part with it?!! I’d love to see you get it running for him at least.
