  • It’s been about 2 years since #Hyundai proved their high-performance N division could build a legitimate player in the sport compact space. For 2024, the #HyundaiElantraN gets some upgrades the it’s controversial front fascia, along with new lighter forged wheels and updates to the suspension and steering. This #ElantraN remains one of the best performance bargains in the market.

Happy Friday everyone! The Elantra N may come across as the underdog next to the Civic Type R and GR Corolla, but this car is still one terrific value and still one of the best handling FWD cars on the market. It essentially gives you 90% of the goodness of a Civic Type R but with a $10k price discount!

One thing I’d like to mention as an N owner is that you mentioned how “stiff” the vehicle is In N mode which although true that’s more for track use. Everyone should note that you can customize your N driving experience in the custom settings. There you can change how stiff your suspension is, how much performance goes to the engine, how open the valves for the exhaust are and how stiff the steering can be. Which ultimately can make your N mode experience a lot more comfortable.
You can customize a whole lot more but just a side note.

The Exhaust sound is amazing. was at Caffeine & Octane today and the Rev's turned heads. I made a decision to order a new FL5 2024 Honda Civic Type R in Championship White. I have seen the depreciation of my car of $6000 off MSRP to be too much. Next year It would be worth $25K or 26K where as the Type R holds 90% of its MSRP in the same time. Its hard to justify the extra $13,000 for the Type R but I think i will still have an awesome fun car to drive in the new Type R. The Elantra N is the best bang for the buck! The DCT is great and is faster then the 6 Speed.

As someone who bought the 2024 N (DCT model) this weekend, I have to say it's a complete blast to drive. I had to go 450 miles to find one, and it was absolutely worth it. It has amazing grip and handling even when wet. It accelerates beautifully and I have experienced no turbo lag. The amount of customizing makes it a techie's dream. The shifting of the DCT is extremely good (and a definite step up from the 7spd dry-clutch DCT of the N-Line models, something I can say from experience). The exhaust, acceleration and handling, puts a ten-mile wide grin on your face just like the reviewer; it certainly does for me. I can hear it calling from my garage..."Drive me...Drive me..."
Great review @theredline .I agree, I would like wireless CarPlay; I would also like Hyundai to start offering all-weather floormats (I will be buying Kagu 3D ones shortly). I think the new key fobs feel a little cheap compared to the old ones from 2019-2020. I also agree with you on the hatch bit; if the i30N had come to North America at any time since I discovered the N-Line/N series (I own an Elantra GT N-Line as well), it would be in my garage.
While I'd love the hatch even more, I still really love this car.

We had the opportunity to reserve the new EN but decided we didn't want to wait. We bought a used Intense Blue EN instead. Supposedly one of the differences is adaptive cruise control, but that was when rumors were around - wondering if that is truly the case?
The pre-facelift version allows the rear seat to drop - did the remove the feature? I see the switch in the trunk for it. Would be odd they had it but removed it. Another difference is the door handles are now body colored instead of black. Not sure which I prefer. And as far as the updated front fascia, I actually prefer the older one as it looks more aggressive and unique in my eye.
I'm not a huge fan of the new key fob - much prefer the previous version we got since it looks more classy and compact to me. Our version (DCT) does have remote start capability, so I'd imagine that will carry over to the new one.
One thing to note is the N buttons on the steering wheel can be pretty extensively customized - you can make them put your car in N mode, swap between N and N-custom, start a lap timer, etc.
And lastly, I'm a bit surprised about the fuel economy drop. I don't see how when it's the same engine with seemingly the same transmission. Our car will get around 33mpg on interstate driving. If the new car can't do that, I wonder why. And I'm yet again glad we snatched up a pre-facelift version when we did.
As always, love your content - I've been subscribed for a while now and have no intent to change that.

yes the rear seat is a single fold down. this is not a 60/40 split like on some of the Elantra. There is the rear RED Cross support bars in the back that will limit pass thru of some larger items. But looks cool. The tabs you pull are in the trunk and you have to pull both to drop it. it will automatically lock back in place when you pull it back up.

Rest of the car looks great, the beautiful wheel design, the side profile and the rear end with that impressive spoiler I like a lot. Interior looks great luv those sport seats with the lighted N-logo, the twin digital 10.25 in. displays really nice. But this car was built for performance and all the reviews of it are great. I think this is just the tip of the iceberg as far as what the N-Division within Hyundai can produce. They’ve shown with this car as well as the Kona-N and the Ioniq-5 N which has 641 hp at its top end, that they can build performance vehicles rivaling those from other brands.
