This kind of thing is what we come here for, not super expensive prebuilt "Gaming PCs". Keep up the good work!
Tbf I like both, but prefer APU builds. Looking forward to AMD Strix point/strix halo release and hope to see a quiet build here in an awesome looking case, as thats what could be my next PC.
This is more what I like to see! Better than reviewing the endless sea of handhelds! Budget builds are good, and Bazzite is cool! So excited to see how far Linux gaming has come!
handhelds are cool too though
but yeah this is way more interesting
Just wait for Strix to come out and then he'll be flooding the channel with a gazillion mini PCs that all have pretty identical specs
I remember in the early 2000s building PCs. Back then you wanted the case to be as large as possible now, everybody wants tiny little cases. The worm turns.
There’s still tons of builders that like huge cases nowadays. The only thing different is that the cases are more “aquarium” like instead. So they can show off their hardware.
I also agree with the tiny cases. They’re kind of fascinating in the fact that the main draw usually is to pack as much performance in as possible in such a small footprint. There’s a huge market forming/formed around boutique tiny cases. It’s cool to see some of the designs emulate stuff like you’d see from Apple.
Now u have consoles a quarter of the size of an average PC build, a fraction of the price, performing equally or better to a gaming PC quadruple the price. It's not even worth it anymore. Nvidia is laughing all the way to the bank
@@user-ih6oe9ny3j buy nvidia stock and use the profits to buy their gpu's
I like my big desktop. I even have a statue and skulls in it. 😏
Big cases are less of a dust magnet and run quieter due to larger coolers and more fans. All depends on the application.
I love Bazzite. Been running it on my gaming laptop and can't be more satisfied with the performance
Bazzite + upcoming AMD NUCs + transformed into a handheld = dream device
Thanks for making more Bazzite videos. This looks like it would make a great little console replacement.
I would love to see what a Bazzite 4k gaming PC would look like in the future.
I followed your guide for Bazzite on Legion Go I love it!!!! Makes my Elden Ring DLC playthrough heavenly.
I am so old that I don’t “get” the RGB craze..😂
im young and i could care less about rgb
I found my people
I'm basically a fossil at this point and I love RGB 😅
RGB is nice but if the components look cheap and your build is messy, it looks tacky. Plus you can do a little touch of RGB like just the RAM here and its hard to argue it doesn't look good. A light blue or low bright-reddish glow w/ all that white? 🔥
I wish they just gave us troubleshooting error codes on a seven segment displays.
Love the Linux coverage!
With Microsoft trying to invade our privacy, Linux based systems become more important than ever. People are fed up with AI tools trying to mine our data (adobe...) and with a fat new APU from AMD coming soon, while OS improves, i think it will become a very viable option for many who "just wanna game" but potentially also want to use it for productivity.
Please keep us updated and i would like to see a "fat" build with a beefy Nvidia card. Not wiht Bazzite necessarly, but Steam support and 1-2 Benchmarks, comparing FPS to Windows native modes using the same settings/gpu.
So sad that only now I'm 2024 Microsoft has started trying to invade our privacy.
The honest answer here is there's no good reason to try to go through the headache of Nvidia gpus on Linux when you're just going to get a better experience on AMD hardware over here.
Nvidia has horrible Linux support. Which is why you don't normally see any of these videos with Linux.
@@Jimster481 ah, okay. i thought it has been resolved since the last time i tried it (couple years ago)
yes more steam os type budget builds would be awsome
Very interesting set up!
Beautiful ETA Keep up the great work :)
Dang this is a sweet mini build...I'm tempted
this video is so cool, thanks!
If Valve Deckard = a Console + VR Headset, then this is basically what the console portion will resemble: a small Steam OS box.
Pretty system - nice work!
i appreciate you showing linux on your channel with different pc setups and showing bazzite as i rlly like to recommend it to new linux users :)
Thank you bro. You are in a position to test hardware we couldn't afford to or spare the time to, its good to see honest reviews that don't cater to companies.
He doesn't do reviews though. Its more like product showcases. If you want legit reviews, Jarrods Tech is great. GamerNexus, MonitorsUnboxed too. ETA is good for window shopping bro which is fine
Steam Summer Sale is BIGGER than ever WOW!!! 😮
really? I thought this summer sale offering is the most underwhelming I've seen.
I guess if you are into buying bad games, sure lol
@@thetg2117
Still want more performance out of APUs in general, BUT they have come a long way and it's still pretty awesome.
Great topic. Used to just play & work with linux - now it seems you can also play more-less main titles w/o performance penalty.
I'm glad the bigger newer games are being shown off, but to me this could shine as a retro/indie power house.
came here for the steam controller (damn i wish they still manufactured them: ive got one), stayed for the sick steambox build!
Wow, pretty nice OS. I think I will install this on my Aya Neo Slide.
That case is one of many on the market going by different names. I have one of them for my living room PC, but it's sold by a different brand. Must be one supplier selling to a bunch of companies.
Yes, do a video about bazzite and Intel ARC!
Commenting while still watching but I would love to see an all intel with Bazzite build!
Just installed Bazzite on an AMD 5500g, Haven't Played on it yet, hopefully this evening. but looks sweet
ETA Prime do a BAZZITE Video! Love you! Thanks :D
I was surprised at how well the igpu is in my ryzen 5 7600 performs
5600g is already impressive for me, i can only imagine the 7600
@@nuketurnal2the iGPU of the 5600G is better than the one on the 7600
Can you do a video on using the home theater version of bazzite? I'd love to have a living room pc to play some Kart games easily Amongst the streaming apps
im interested to see a high end building using bazzite.
I would love thos
Still using windows, but I'm loving KDE on my secondary systems so might have to give this a look as I'm getting pretty fed up with paying up to accommodate window's bloatware.
you can add that single slot intel gpu you did months back
can you do a build with nobara next?
Can't wait for AMD's Strix Halo to come out next year🙌
I found a fully modular Apevia fATX PSU that's 450 watts on Amazon, and it's barely more than this. Granted, it's hard to find anything about it to make sure it's not going to explode on you. Granted, for a tiny build, you're not going to put hardware on a PSU like this that's really going to stress it anyways.
would love to know a pros cons on this vs an ALLY X
I wonder: if Valve attempts a second "Steam Machine" in a console-like form factor, would it be successful?
The original Steam Machine sucked for a lot of reasons. But now, with SteamOS, and availability of dedicated in-house hardware, would things be different?
I need something like this for my main TV but I don't want all the settings set to low
Including the price for it would have been helpful.
Probably costs like 800$ - 700$
$300 for the ram alone...not worth it
I put Bazzite on my Arcade machine with emudeck.
windows free gaming Love it
I can see myself using this when it works on Nvidia.
If only there is a form of performance comparison between the Linux os and Windows
Yeah, that PS would probably get the snip and some molex crimped on, the excess set aside if ever needed. Any PS can become modular, though you do forsake the warranty.
nice
Are you gonna test the new ASUS Vivobooks with the new Ryzen AI 9 HX 370?
ATM i build a SFF Gaming PC for the TV, with an i7 8700 and a RTX A2000 :)
Hello I have a question. Like the goodisory A09, does this case have enough clearance to use an m.2 under the motherbaord?
I have a question, how would this exact spec do in windows in the same games. I'm just interested if there is a performance gain from this gaming focused os
It's very interesting! What if I want to install another gaming launcher like Epic Games, it would run without a problem?
Apart from the faster desktop DDR5 ram and the possible DGPU upgrade if there is room enough, wouldn't you get about the same performance and possible more and better i/o in one of the mini PC's from eg Minisforum for less money ? if I remember right those desktop processors isn't much faster with the 780M than the mobile processors. You are most likely bottleknecked by the igpu anyway even you got some faster ram.
I think I might be ready to build a Bazzite machine to mess around with. My biggest hangup with these 3rd party SteamOS clones has been the inclusion of nvidia drivers, and fear of them not being supported for a long time. IDK, with spare hardware, there is less concern with longevity I guess.
If the system integrators for those distros are only adopting the Steam deck Game UI from the original, it s gonna be stuck with only proper support for AMDs RDNA architecture for a while since it is not supposed to be running on NVidia hardware. Until Linux Gaming gets recognized by NVidia they might not be looking/asking to cooperate with Valve to uplift their performance on Linux based systems... Unless they are asked to make a SoC for a console as happened with AMD for the Steam deck.
Missing the days when you talk, at the end of the video, about power consumption and noise level.
Everyone needs handheld thats it.
Hope ps6 comes as handheld
I wonder what the best GPU you could fit into that case would be.
I am starting to get annoyed from how much he used the steam controller in the thumbnail since I wasn’t able to get one before they went off sale and now I really want one
Is it possible to use the desktop end for recording at the same time you run the steam end. If so, can the desktop end record the steam end while on the steam end. Sorry if it's a dumb question.
Is Bazzite a better experience than Chimera OS? How is it as a desktop environment?
Much better and streamlined. Chimera is based on arch which is more bleeding edge but will break some stuff but chimera seems to be not as maintained as Bazzite
Bazzite is based on fedora, less user control but for the average user -it is a no brainer.
I'll wait for Strix Point, thanks though
strix point "should" be 30% faster. hoping the mini pcs are coming not too far after the laptops launch.
This is actually perfect for what my Dad is looking for, would this case fit the gigabyte 4060? clearance looks tight.
If you want Bazzite, buy AMD.
@@OneQuarterLife does it not function with Nvidia cards? Mainly curious since we haven't gotten a LP rdna 3 card
@@AatroxSuppMainworks with Nvidia of course but if you don't want any problem you should pick an AMD GPU, Nvidia doesn't have a good support of Linux modern graphics software
This video is nearly identical to the one you release 3 months ago?
Install it on the raspberry pi 5!
$600 for this sounds good to me, I wonder if this could also double as a workstation? I'm noob to PC so I don't know if this would edit videos or do programming / spreadsheet work well.
Programming/ spreadsheet is a no brainer for this PC, video editing on the other side is a big "it depends", I've been doing video editing on a i5 3rd gen laptop pretty well but the workloads where "small", of course this PC can manage video editing but if you're a Dune 2 editor maybe you should pick something long way more powerful than this
can we see high end emulation, pls?
Did the ram actually run at 8000mt/s? interesting since all the regular am5 cpus will not even let your system boot if you go above 6000mt/s with the ram.
Any ideas for a slightly larger case that could fit an Arc card? For a budget itx build (obviously not going to use the 8700G)
Fractal mood, Cooler master NR300, Dancase, Google "r/sff" you will come across a whole lot of ITX builds in really creative ways
8600g and 8700g are hidden gems for average gamers that want an am5 build
Overpriced. You can get a "new" RX580 that is on par with this or better. You can then use cheaper other AM5 processor/components and still get same performance for less using this GPU. An average gamer does not want this low gaming performance anyway.
@@stephenxs8354 I bought an RX580 bro its not the same for all people here where i live all RX580 are mined and imported from Russia or elsewhere , it basically lives for threeweeks and just dies and btw this happened to me 2 different times from 2 different sellers yes an RX580 well get you better performance but not as a new pc build , it will be just shortlived in my case
@@stephenxs8354 Yes if you want an RX580 For gaming bro not all people want an actual gaming pc , just a new pc without any issues , the RX580 Where i live are all mined gpus which sucks i bought two from seperate sellers and both of them died within the first 3 months , that just sucks , but i do agree on performance , i am just saying theyre good entry level for specific needs not just gaming .
@@stephenxs8354 I do agree for an actual gamer not average joe gamer , the RX580 is better but where i live used RX580 were all mined gpus and didtnt last that long btw i bought them for 2 different places . they didnt last 3 months , if you live abroad a used gpu might be an option but where i live its basically 10$USD difference for a new one thats why alot of people avoid used cards here .
Also btw what your talking about is the 7500f and the rx580 combo which i agree is better for someone who only cares about gaming , while if you need something general the 8600g feels better to be because of the igpu , meets all my needs , and i can upgrade to a decent new gpu , the rx580 is great and decent only issue theyre mostly used , but i 100% agree if you want a gaming pc dont get the 8600g , if you want average gaming experience with capabilties to work without a gpu and a new powersupply with lower wattage go with the 8600g it depends on the needs.
Does anyone know if Bazzite can handle multiple user's save games properly? ChimeraOS has an issue when switching between users, it fails to switch between user's save game data properly and it can result in having your game save written over by someone elses.
Surpassing build, ETA 👍 tho rdna3 igpu isn't for me personally.
Thank you for 93W measured avg. gaming power consumption.
Kindest regards, neighbours and friends.
sad they dont sell thos econtroller anymore
Imagine Galax would release that single slot 16GB 4060Ti…
Nevertheless, that’s a video I thoroughly enjoyed.
I think gigabyte has a 4060 not sure if it's a ti or super.
Can I use the PC like PS or Xbox ?
DO AN INTEL VERSION WITH THE ARC A380
He already have videos with the A380
Just a brief heads up, Steam Os hijacked Gaming part offers better support for AMDs RDNA architectures, so it might be a somehow undermined comparison.
wait. i thought nvidia was crazy good on fedora and fedora based os'es right now? what happened?
I want to see bazzite os on high end amd gpu please…
ChrisTitustech has a video about it. I trust him with the Linux content.
For a gaming PC rig, is it better to run it with this Linux OS over windows when I do not only gaming but also general work on it?
if you play multiplayer games or need Adobe suite or you work needs you to use a VPN. then stick with windows + steam big picture when you need to game.
if you are playing single player games on Home theatre PC. preferably on discrete AMD GPU then bazzite or Chimera OS.
You can dualboot windows and Linux from separate boot disks and try them all out for yourself before you make the switch.
Depends on the multiplayer titles you play. E.g. helldivers 2 and hunt showdown work like a Charm, other titles like battlefield and cod might have some anti cheat thingies running only on windows.
I'm looking at building a small form factor PC like this but I can't seem to find an AMD GPU that can fit in something like the LZModA24-V5 except the XFX Radeon 6400XT. The idea is to run a two SSDs one with PopOs! for work and the other running Bazzite for gaming. Does anyone know any GPU that would fit in that case
Would it be possible to use an an amd egpu with this operating system? Something like the onexgpu via the usb 4 protocol.
just ask on their GitHub. I doubt it supports hot-plugging a egpu probably needs a reboot or some command line shenanigans.
or your best course of action would be checking the Fedora wiki.
Edit: Looking at fedora forums for egpu support it works but you need to unbind the Nvidia GPU using a command line tool and log off and log back in otherwise your Display manager bugs out.
Meanwhile for AMD GPU just unbinding the dgpu like you eject a USb stick will suffice as it's well supported.
👍🏾
will bazzite run on my i7 10700 with gtx 1650? i heard it will be unstable bu that was year ago already
If you want smooth experience you should pick an AMD GPU, Nvidia doesn't have the better support for Linux (it seems that they're improving but it's still on beta)
What happened to the old intro??
"You can always go terminal", well yes, but first research what is immutable linux and rpm-ostree, as Bazzite quite differs from your average Fedora/Debian/Arch
I did Bazzite but after find out that cachyos have a handheld option did I put it on my 2400g office pc so far it's working pretty well still need little more work.

Whats better a steam deck or one of these builds?
if you want something that just works out of the box and no fiddling needed then go for steam deck with a dock.
The steam deck supports suspend and resume like most consoles.
if you are familiar with Linux and like something that is upgradable and doesn't need to be as portable as a handheld then go for these builds. It will likely costs more or the same as a steam deck OLED but without a display.

Ah... you see, the Steam Machines ultimately did succeed... even if the initial offering was a failure.

While the videos are sometimes interesting, this is relatively uninteresting, super-expensive for what it is and huge.
a gmktec k8 costs $400 barebone and around $550 with 1tb and 32gb ram... and an 8700g (like this video) is barely 5 to 10% more powerful than an 8845hs, but above all, in terms of size, a gmktec k8 is 3 times smaller.
Is this windows compatible?
Слишком большой размер. Материнские платы не прогресируют со временем. Нет нужды во внутреннем блоке питания. Нужна материнская плата с питанием от usb 3 или через порт.
After watching the whole video; I don't think its worth it. Much better to just build something with a Ryzen 5600x and a RX6600 or 6600xt or even 7600xt. It would overall be much faster and honestly doesn't have to be much bigger in terms of size or even power consumption.. An A520 + 16GB of ram + 5600 (especially from ebay) is very cheap... add in one of the above GPUs and you would be around the same price as this setup but with 3x the GPU power at least.
Lol this case isn't aviable in my Country by all Retailers I use to buy.
