One nice thing about X-series is that they don't have any chipset.
All USB, PCIe, SATA ports are straight from the CPU, similar to mobile boards.
This allows for additional power savings, especially at idle.
I love ASrock. This mini DIYish desktops are so awesome. This is the first AM5 version they have come out with isn’t it? I remember the AM4 version like 5 or 6 years ago. I’ve been waiting on them to come out with an AM5 version but I’m waiting for RDNA4 APU’s one day, so now I know they finally came out with something with a current socket.
I think I'm going to get the next generation APUs with supposedly high performance, just going to wait a year and maybe get it on sale or see if the next gen is a big enough upgrade.
Horrible performance, buggy firmware... What a treat.
Hi ETA Prime, I have been a silent follower for many years and really enjoy all your content. I always recommend your channel to friends and family looking to build small form factor systems. I will love to a see a comparison video of the Minis Forum Elite Mini UM890, Minis Forum EM780, the new ROG NUC and finally this new Desk Mini X600. I believe a comparison of their size, gaming capacity and price will be unique as each system offers almost similar specs on paper. It will be interesting to see a head to head video for people considering any of these. Thank you and warm regards from 🇳🇬
I literally ordered the x600 and parts less than 24 hours ago. This video will come in handy when I build mine. Thanks!
How much was total cost?
OH! Thanks ETA PRIME, I've been waiting for an upgraded version of the X300, thanks for the beautiful video. Definitely going to buy this one.
I have both deskmini 300 versions. Nice seeing a refresh
was very good in selling
still using X300 with R5 5600g. still good
@@hadanghuy1901 I have one with a 5700G. Learned about it in this channel!
Just built one with the 8600G , love how small it is.
How do u like it, I’m building one for my father n law. He only uses it for a tax software during tax season and CZcams.
I ordered both the 8700g and 8600g how do u like the performance of the 8600g?
lot of ssd connections, thats really important. nice plattform
Love the little builds
Loved my A300 with a 2400g. Did the job just fine. This definitely has my attention.
I used to have an X300 one with a Ryzen 4750G. I used the amd stealth cooler with tthe shroud removed, but ultimately upgraded to the Noctua L9a, or something like that.
That was a mighty little beast. I remeber playing Space Marine 1 on my 4k TV at full ress high with full frames, which was a lot of fun.
It was also a nice portable PC when i had to travel about.
Only thing i noticed was that after a few hours of gaming , the whole case would get hot, because the motherboard passed the heat on to the rest of the case through the integrated standoffs. At least i think that's what happened.
CPU and other temps were necer a problem and the noctua cooler was quiet, despite the load.
The Deskmini 110 was my first mini pc. I used it for work daily until I had to get a laptop. Since then it's in use as my Plex server at home.
Really great form factor, it's worth the investment for the upgradability.
Ok... I'm kind of surprised for the price it can handle 4 drives and come with the cables needed to use them and not rely on having to go elsewhere to get them a particular length.
I feel like this competes well with wanting to get this instead of the Odroid H3+ that I had my eye on for a gift.
Odroid is smaller and has lower idle power but compared to 8700g or 8600g is completely different stuff
I was looking at the H3+ but went with the GMKtec G5 N97 faster, Smaller, Cheaper
I like to see the budget builds that utilize Linux based os.
I've had a DeskMIni X300 since launch and they are great little PCs. I use mine as a HTPC/Plex server and it works really well. Running a 5500GT.
I've got an x300 mini and a Deskmeet x300. My fave PC kits so far!
you're a natural in front of the camera, so smooth!
I have the older H310 variant of the Deskmini, makes for an awesome Plex server. I threw an old 8700k in it, runs on barely any wattage. I think these new models will really shine once people start upgrading this generation of AM5 and have extra chips to throw in a build like this.
I've been waiting for this. My current desktop system is the Deskmini X300. There's a high probability I'll upgrade to this at some point.
Interesting. I hope ASRock bring another DeskMeet with Zen 5 support.
The upcoming DeskMeet X600 looks far more interesting, $28 more than the DeskMini X600 currently is (After $10 rebate), but it has a normal PSU and an x16 slot for a GPU.
That four times as large, how will SFFers fit that into their cargo shorts?
But how can I bring that to an airplane? In a big bag? 🤢🤮
bro that is kinda sick it's like a docked steamdeck/rog ally or whatever
Can you use a 7800x3d CPU and add occulink adapter instead of 2 m.2s? If this thing is compatible with a 7800x3d I think I would be able to build the most powerful tiny PC with a home made EGPU oculink enclosure I'm working on
I have the x300 predecessor to this one and it is awesome.
Hi there.. loved ur vids... anyway.. any plans on doing a review/build on the Asrock Deskmeet X600...?
undervolt could make that cpu hold turbo frequency a little bit better, thats why I have undervolted r7 5800x3D with nh d15 and with undervolt I got better performance than on default volts. so there is only chance to get better performance or instability while undervolting too much with bad piece of silicon
not enough usb but Asrock made sure we've got that vitally important VGA port. thank goodness for that VGA port in 2024.
Have you tried updating the BIOS? I saw another video about the asrock mini x600, and they got a nice bump in performance with the latest BIOS. Great video btw.
hoping to see you add an oculink port to this bad boy, Ive added an egpu to my x300 and its awesome!
can you please provide the parts you've used, I'm planning to make an oculink egpu on my X300 too
9:59 man, I surely love these tiny builds newest feature: Title
My friend, I raised the speed of Ramat from Bius and now the device does not show a picture, it just works and rotates its fan, but it does not show a picture.
That cooler seems like straight from the FX era, cursed times.
I've become a big fan of Asrock. I have the AM4 version of their Deskmeet with an RX 6600 GPU, and it's my 1080p gaming rig.
I might actually save up to this! Thanks for the amazing review (like always) 🎉😊
This would be a KILLER NAS+plex box
I love this form factor. I've got a DeskMini 310 with an i7-8700 and an X300 with a 5700G and an M.2-OCuLink port to an external GPU. I don't understand why the only USB header is 2.0--can we get USB 3.0 headers in the next generation ASRock?
No fan of Asrock,, but Im in love with this mini pc
Would have been good to see how tight the fit was with an extra M.2 and two SSDs on the rear of the motherboard. 👍
They fit very well, the SATA SSDs mount inside on the chassis and the back M.2 is on the back of the mobo. You can see others did this with the X300, this is the same design, they reused to not have additional costs.
Perfect little lan box.
So, this X600 does not have a one click Ram setting in bios, like EXPO?
Hey, you should try the deskmeet version. You can add gpus to the deskmeet version
Actually, the 8700G also embeds an NPU….it would be therefore interesting to top up the max amount of RAM handled by the iGPU and do some inference test with a few LLMs to see how the APU+NPU perform with it. I suspect this would also require some liquid cooling as the heat to dissipate would increase (sustained heat for prolonged time).
Dude why, you cannot put a GPU in it. You would buy a handicapped laptop: no display, no wifi, no bluetooth, no speakers, no keyboard, no trackpad, no webcam. Buy an laptop instead.
Will usbc monitor work?
this would be the perfect Bazzite box
It needs a 150W PSU to be safe, especially if you maxed it with drives etc..
can you try an oculink setup with this? i just want to see whether it is janky or not
That 6400 kit in the video is the Kingston 6400c38 kit? I wonder why it has Micron chips on it.
If ever possible. i'd want to see the following.
x600 motherboard with same internals BUT
In a S4Tiny running a gpu like the sparkle arc 380 single slot card and somehow getting a powersupply thrown into it so it's brickless.
I have been looking at the APU's for a super long time and wanting to see a build like this little to no modding with off the shelf parts would be sick.
USB4 or something would have been nice but still neat. I am waiting for the new stuff.
Would this work with ESXi or Proxmox as a Home Lab Server?
How do you think this would do with music production using Ableton Live?
Not a producer, but I have been buddies with some of them, this setup has 32 gigs of high speed RAM and music production eats RAM for breakfast, I think you'll be fine with this little monster as you work machine!
even just one USB-C with alt DP support would have been nice
Would a hot ssd under the sodimm slots not be ideal ?
How about using a 7800x3d with an egpu on the m2 slot?
This one is the best thing ever
is it worth the upgrade from 5600g to 8600/8700g? price to performance
I built the identical x300 desk mini with the AMD 3400 APU. It worked out good as aa Linux machine. But be aware that the optional USB hub is very difficult to install and won't fit with larger coolers. I had no choice but to use the wraith stealth.
The extra USB 2.0 ports work fine with a Noctua L9a installed.
Surprised no one mentions this is the exact size of an ATX Power Supply. AMD Stock Stealth cooler is best cheap/no-cost cooler - not 14$ like in the video lol - you can get aftermarket coolers from 15-20$; the one in the box from ASRock is too smol and very loud. The DeskMini X300's HDMI was plagued with problems and kept disconnecting for me and some others I found while googling, I had to use a DisplayPort->HDMI adapter; the DisplayPort worked well.
I'm surprised you didn't try if the Noctua L9 would have fit in there
ASRock also has DeskMeet version, with full size x16 PCIE slot.
But the maximum case length is about 200mm. Not many options for SFF powerful graphics card out there.
MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Ventus 2X Black 8G OC (and 16G), Manli GeForce RTX 4060 8GB GDDR6, PNY RTX 4000 SFF Ada Generation 20GB...
thanks!
@@cptcrogge and also Gigabyte Low Profile. ADA Generation is not available in many countries, so 4060 is the best you can get in most countries.
@@ir1keren Well that's good enough for such a small cube. Bigger GPUs would cause thermal issues in this small case. The RTX 3050 or RTX 4060 has a reasonable TDP. I built Deskmeet with a Geforce 1660 and encountered no problems.
This computer is the size of the power supply on my computer, and plays the same games lol
Once these mini desktops can start playing games better than my Rog Ally I might start caring. Spending damn near triple it for the same performance
Can you maybe do second video with egpu setup
Im just watching rog ally vs minisforum um780(i think) in your channel a moment ago. Then I shared screen it to my tv. Then I can not open it. Can you post it again. Im really looking at the difference between the 2 because. I want to buy 1. I don't need bulky desktops as I need to travel. So the comparisons will be great. especially for thia coming rog ally x.
Love the idea for this but it defo needs to have the choice to add a graphics card
I've still got my 2060 super lying around, so buy this add all the other bits and connect the card
Boom a great little machine
Can u put an rgb fan in it also?
Excited when they show this product on the previous years Computex. I thought AMD would releas a 16 Core G series CPU, paired with this you'd have a portable workstation(ish) desktop.
I have several 4K Blu-ray DVDs ripped as mkv files of varying sizes of around 75 GB each. Can these iGPUs run them smoothly?
I need a back up of that ripped drive
You may have done this before, but it'd be nice to see the same setup but with 5600 RAM. Just to see how it impacts performance.
Finally a successor to the X300! Please note that Ryzen 7000 series and 8000 (G) series can benefit from a (much) bigger CPU cooler, unless you want to run your CPU in Eco mode...
M.2 cooler what is the link for it?
You might want to try LSFG 2.1
It's missing the chatoyancy (shimmer) of mini PCs... The OcuLink Port.
Hmmm. I'm curious what other cpu coolers would fit in there. Something all copper maybe? Max cooler height is listed at 47mm.
Noctua L9a, best.
If this was redesigned to look like a console similar to the Ayaneo AM02, and ditched the VGA port for extra HDMI or wifi antennas, it would absolutely perfect. It's a shame the target audience are businesses.
I'll hold on until STRIX hits the market with the 8000MT memory support
When is the release of the strix?
Anything on the Deskmate?
best one yet
Ok now make this 3 inches taller with an x16 slot so you can throw a low pro 4060 in here and bump up the power brick to 350 watts , then we be jammin !
DeskMeet X600 ?
=> ASRock DeskMeet X600
@@Luagsch 👀
@Luagsch @trthib if they just made the x600 with an external power brick, just to keep a smaller footprint. I like the idea of an external laptop brick for these 4-5 liter cases
They should provide atleast 180-200w psu. 120w psu is not looking good to me
it doesn't have gpu slot. dang bro! It would be a good product to purchase if it had.
Can you test it with an egpu
Any other site to order this ?
whats the name of your keyboard?
Anyone knows if the Noctua NH-L9a-AM4 fan would work with this?🤔🤔
i hope is support usb 4
ETA i miss your Robot intro.
Test for batocera build please
I want a video with the 8500G, not even 8600G.
How about Steam OS on that ?
This should wait for strix halo apu that supposedly has igpu that rivals a rtx 4070, obviously Paired with 8ghz camm2 memory or faster if possible
why vga and display ports?
Test the 8500g please.
That case sold out within 2hr
Is support usb4?
Looking up for the white version
Omg I want this haha
You should add a external GPU in the next video.
Your x600 link does not work?
