- NO MORE DES for WiWood.
They succumbed to the market and released COLOR EINK... but not K3, this is only Kaleido 2.
Google play, a good build, and a decent performance all around.

$330 is insanely high for a device that feels like it's 2 years behind the curve. I know it's not color, but a Meebook M6 is the same size with a sharper and faster screen and Google play for $150. If you want a small ereader alternative to Kindle, that makes a lot more sense.
Yes.. even you can get meebook m7 with 7 inch display for the same price
Picked this up for 169 dollars during black Friday and honestly it’s not that bad... Well sorta.
I purchased off amazon which the first unit I received had a faulty backlight where you could see the leds. Furthermore, it refused to connect to my main network, but for some reason I manage to get it connected with my extension wifi.
After all that trouble it appears I got an old unit because it shipped with the old firmware. Did some updating and it ended up working fine.
In the end I ended up getting it replaced with a new unit which shipped only after I contacted amazon about it (3 weeks later). This unit did ship with the updated filmware and everything worked out of the box.
Moral of the story is the QC isn’t so great but if you can pick it up heavily discounted it’s not bad. Not even close to worth full price, but for around 150-180 ish it’s okay.
Yeah, we appreciate your feedback, but unfortunately it's not a matter of whether the device is good or bad, we tested it.. it is good, it's a matter of the fact that it comes from a company that has fundraised millions and millions of dollars USD
And not fully fulfilled their end of the bargain
Which is precisely why it's left a little bit of a sour taste in people's mouths, this latest unit.
Yeah, that's absolutely true. I only did a bit of reading on what was going on with the company before and my heart goes out to all of those who pledged. Hopefully, they can at least use some of the likely very little profit from this device to do something.
that black and white mode is necessary for me and i never knew this until you mentioned it. i just assumed they all did that i guess
So what happened with the crowdfunding thing? Did they reimburse the backers? Or did they take their money and create these products to get the same people to pay twice?
We have no idea, we have done our due diligence several times and keeping everyone updated with the situation, but we have nothing to do with the company
We are a separate News review outlet that reports on things with an unbiased approach
We've Told you the timeline, we showed you the numbers, and we showed you the reality of how these devices hold up after a year, and it's not good
@@goodereader I’ve never heard of this company before seeing this latest coverage so I don’t know the backstory, which is why I asked. But ok. I’ll have a look elsewhere thanks.
Yes, watch the video we did on the company and their chronology.
It would honestly be best to just get something else, we are covering it because that's what we do as a company, we cover every and any e-reader that comes across our desk
But we can tell you there's no real benefit to purchasing this product over something else.
@@goodereader I wasn’t interested in buying one. Just curious about the company history.
Oh yeah for sure. :)
Any chance you'll review the Hanlin read 6 color e-reader?
As we have told everyone, the moment we get samples sent to us, we go through the process
We either donate it, sell it, give it away, recycle it, send it back, or if we deem it worthy, review it
Interesting. How would a laptop pc screen mirroring / extending android app look like on a device like this?
Well seeing as this is a very small screen, and it's using old technology.. not very well
Any android device can be set to black and white mode as it is an accessibility feature, hidden but available, in developer's menu
Yes, with Dev options any e-reader can do literally anything, but that is not with intention
I use your controllable toggle... Our facts still remains, the poke two color was the only device to be able to it
Will my eyes see a 13.3-inch color ebook with a decent dpi and refresh rate? I'm seriously starting to doubt it.
turning point for company perhaps, once they cut the price 50-80%
😢
Should differentiate themselves with actual wood and leather as it is not waterproof
Yeah, they had a good opportunity to really do something.
Unless Wiwood/Reinkstone does something to make it right with their backers for previous products you shouldn't give them ANY platform at all or even talk about redemption as a company...
Giving them any platform, we are unbiased impartial reviewers that review everything e paper related
We're not collaborating with anybody and we're not paid by anybody
So if we want to do an impartial review of a product, we will do so
The funny thing is, I wouldn't have known about the improprieties of the company behind reinkstone if it weren't for this video. I think doing a review and clearly calling out their scammy history at the beginning is precisely the right balance to strike.
