I'm actually impressed how far color e-ink has come. Looking forward to FINALLY getting digital photo frames with e-ink - this would be a MAJOR application for e-ink. Because todays digital picture frames are power-consuming LCDs that require constant power - for something nobody is looking at 99% of the time. An e-ink picture frame could easily be optimized enough to run with power from solar cells built right into the frame.
When will I finally see this?

we can implement colored e paper for adaptive camouflage for soldiers to wear to exactly mach the texture, depth, and color of the environment. Like the chromatophores in squid that actually mimic the texture and shape of their environment.

Namun harga eink tablet paling murah sekalipun setara pendapatan sebulan kami sebagai guru disini, itupun untuk ukuran tablet yang kecil dan layar besarnya yang bisa digunakan untuk menulis harganya bisa membeli sebuah sepeda motor. Pilihan memakai tablet android yang saya beli bekas memang cukup membantu walau hanya sekedar membuka pdf dan perlahan mempengaruhi penglihatan saya.
Selalu menyukai channel ini, setidaknya mengetahui walau tak mungkin memiliki benda yang diulas.

Kaleido 1 looks a lot more vibrant than Kaleido 3 in this video, especially on the parrot photo, which seems strange.
Gallery was doing something really weird in the green test.
It actually is more vibrant, buuuuut... It is impossibly pixelated and blurry. Kaleido 3 sacrifices color for definition
What kaleido1 device would you guys recommend?
Colour is fantastic but it depends on what one wants to used the Ereader for!
I still have not bought an Ereader yet.
My main thing I will be using an Ereader for, is reading just before bedtime. (reading about an hour and a half.) So black and white is fine.

Why is Kaleido 2 so vibrant compared to Kaleido 3?
Don't quote me on it, but I think K3's main upgrade advantage seems to be crisping up the blacks over improving color saturation? So the image can do more distinct shadowing. As such, though, they may have set the dark color enhancement up further than necessary to achieve that look, and as such, it actually does look darker compared to the K2.

Can you compare Kaleido 3 vs B/W eInk Carta panels for ereader and PDF use? Im curious to see how the 300ppi from Kaleido 3 compares to Carta's 227ppi, which might make me move from my note air 2
Can confirm DES deteriorates. My Topjoy is wasting away. Every month I am getting more white spots where the "ink" no longer appears in. Shame. I was looking forward to an eink competitor.

I know it's not DES in the end, but I'm really happy with my Nxtpaper in most conditions - just the direct sunlight is a bummer - but I use it a lot as a remote desktop screen, just because I can use it much longer than any other one.. And it's great for reading comic books..
I've been wanting to upgrade from my Nook Simple Touch (I know I know lol very old!) for awhile now. I really really want an e-ink reader with physical buttons on both sides, touch screen, able to add a memory card for additional storage, and my dream is to be able to read off Nook, Kindle and library apps! I didn't even know COLOUR e-ink existed, these are amazing! I'm definitely waiting now to see what comes out. :o)
Is it just me, or does that parrot preview show kaleido 1 as the best on terms of color vividyty? And then the green test, the supposedly best gallery 3 looks muted. On the parrot the gallery 3 had a completely different shade of blue on the head. Perhaps the issue is that I don't know what those images are meant to look like? Would be great if you supplied the files, or maybe show a ground truth LCD/OLED with good color calibration, or maybe just a good printout or something to compare?
I think you might've had different experience looking with your own eyes and comparing those, versus me watching the video, which is why perhaps I was surprised that you thought the green test on gallery is best.
Oh, and overall, you could show more images and especially some cartoon, comics, posters, something with lots of saturated colors, or some color chart. Actually you did show a colorful drawing for a moment in the outro, which would be much better than the parrot.
I might be mistaken, but won't people buying these devices be interested in things like comic books, graphic novels, magazines etc. and not photos?

I have no desire to change my Kaleido2 device yet (Boox Nova3), I see how much the industry advances and I'm pretty excited about it, but I'm not in any hurry to keep up with the technology while the one I own fits my purposes. I wish android based devices had a better rep than they do because having more color dedicated e-readers like the Poke2 would be awesome (I was going to buy a Poke2 color initially, but it sold out and I was unable) mainly because outside USA, EU, UK and Canada (maybe Australia and New Zealand as well) Kindle isn't all that and books and comics are easier to access on android devices.
I got a boox nova 3 coming from a pocketbook color 2 (that I unfortunately lost) and the former is still to this day a solid device, I can only regret the lack or SD card support
Can you compare a regular image to gallery 3(or whichever deals with color best) with whichever video editor you are using. So we can see how much it achieves colors?

Keep coming back to reviews in the hope we finally have a colour e-ink device that can be the ultimate comic reader. Please show comics when reviewing.
(2:58) The X mode option was removed on the BOOX software 3.0 update for the Russian market variant, then was not present at all on the international variant which shipped with 3.1 instead.
(I have a Russian Poke2 colour and updated it from 2.2 to 3.0 only to find that it was removed, which I didn't expect at the time)
(4:52) I'm glad I didn't buy any of those, but to be fair, I noticed some things off with their Kickstarter campaigns back then and couldn't trust them and stuck to using BOOX instead

My only nitpick with the Gallery 3 besides what you mention is the whites seem very yellow and the blacks very blue when compared to the Hisense B&W. I wish the nice color didn't also come at the cost of good B&W.

There are a ton of issues with that unit right now and it takes a great deal of time to even connect. We will get to this as soon as we can.

Late to the party here, but I am surprised by how bad black looks on the Gallery 3 screen.

K3 looks like b&w almost...k2 in S6 looks better and even K1...what was the eink center configurations for this video? I think the dark enchantment in K3 was the highest...

@Good e-Reader I did but is weird, because I have inknote color and looks better than in your video and if we don't know the eink center configuration is the same for both (K2 and K3) is difficult to compare...any way I will have both the inknote color and inknote colo plus in a few weeks.
The comparison ist great but I sit for a while until you get this things close to the camera. Especially for the Kaleido 3 on the table the colors looks fade out untill you hold it in the camera. Mybe it is my screen maybe the illumination or the angle.

@@goodereader Indeed I did and it was very helpfull. For yust a fun watch it is also great. I just had wondert about while watching because I just saw how big the differences are after the close up.
gallery 3 is better, if the color is too pale, you eye will get strain trying to stress out what color it is, eink color need to be bright by itself if possible, to reduce eye stress.
Unfortunately, Galery 3 doesn't have as many colors as LCD has

Can you play video clips not just a photo.
As a side feedback, I still believe that Bigme should try to work collaboratively more closely with E-ink to reduce the number of layers between the color e-ink display and the viewer on the Gallery 3 products (and others): for example, I think it is likely possible to not have any cover glass on top of the display, by cutting the display glass larger than necessary to fit the e-reader : I think this would increase even more the color saturation of the Gallery 3 e-reader…

There's something up with the camera, every time a device was held close to the camera the colors changed quite significantly which makes it hard to consistently see the differences.
That's why we have 3,000 videos on our Channel

The biggest problem with those e-inks, is that they're too big, the idea of e-inks is to compact your books, so you can read everywhere, but for some stupid reason those colored e-inks and booxs e-inks they are trying to compete against tablets...
That a use-case for them, but another is just to replace paper in as many ways as possible whether it be writing or carrying 1000 full sized books (and with color, comics) in your bag

@@arielmontero3929 hmmmm I get it, but for my use as example, I read all my manga on my Kindle 11 gen, and it works fine, a Kindle 11 size with color display to read comics wold be perfect... And yes you can read comics on a bigger color e-ink.... But at that size you can only read at home.. so what's the point? The idea is read everywhere not just at home, if it was for me to read at home I would buy a tablet which is way more powerful and have more colors...also can storage a lot more comics and even play some games, at the same price of those gigantic color e-ink tablets...

there will be no readers on acep 2 for a long time, just as there was not any based on acep 1 for four years straight. Acep is mass produced since 2019. just for you to know. And we are getting the galy just now, after four years.
Yes, we're only showing devices that are actually real. Which is why we didn't show the "TCL nxt paper" "kyobo mirasol" "CMYK ses imagotag" etc
We have a lot of stuff outside of this in our studio, but we just wanted to focus on real actual products that people can relate to and use

DES "Slurry", from this viewing, really looks as bad as its name sounds. RLCD has the richest color but it looks a little fuzzy. I'd go with Gallery 3, but then I'd have to do without videos and games.
