My hero!! I just search along And finally found it
3 years ago I bought a Beneteau 40 sail boat, for the last 2 1/2 years I have been refitting it, to circumnavigate the world. I was told by all my sailing friends that it was required, by some "unwritten law" that you must have a ukulele on board, I have no idea how to play one, and my music knowledge is what I listen too, bit have no idea how it is done. So....now I have a Uke arriving tomorrow, and I will be watching your channel and many more...because i don't want to be a ukie wimp.

I absolutely LOVE the idea of you aboard your sail boat with a ukulele in hand and hurrah to your friends for their 'unwritten law'.....The Beatles George Harrison was quoted as saying that if everyone was given a ukulele there would be world peace ❤Happy sailing and happy strumming!

hi I found another strumming pattern but idk if it works. I does like D DU D DU. hope that makes sense. also can you explain a bit more on how you do the strumming pattern please. it sounds really cool but I'm a bit stuck. thxs :)
Hi there the song is in 2/4 time so there are 2 x 1 beats per bar. So the rhythm I am strumming is 1, 2 & with an accent on the 1 meaning it is louder. You can use words to help ie WALK run-ning, DOG pup-py, BOOM chick-ka! 1, 2 & so yes D DU
Numbers tend to be down strums and '&' up but I would advise not to get too caught up in DU etc and think how would you clap it? If you can clap it you can strum it. Many of my students find it strange at first to end on an 'up' strum
The other thing I am doing here is to do the 1 beat on just the G string and 2 & on the C, E and A strings. I will see if I can do a video soon to explain better! but until then I hope that this helps

This is great . MANY THANKS. I started playing a few years ago and it certainly helps my mental health. It's so good to see someone who plays like me with the thumb and a low G use.
