(We scan ID's now, so it's a bit harder to sneak in. But that isn't a foolproof system either)

I had one as well about a month ago he worked for the afghan army, he helped out American soldiers and got a free visa here

Why was the US training/supporting Afghan warlords who in turn, were abducting children to have intercourse with them? To me, that seems to be a much bigger issue.

I know this is a weird thing to say, but it isn't the bigger issue.
In Afghanistan, they have something called 'Man Love Thursdays' where men, regardless of age, tend to court the younger men for sexual experiences...
To be blunt, there is a lot of male on male child rape happening on Thursdays in Afghanistan
Coalition troops raised their concerns about this practice almost IMMEDIATELY upon starting operations there (NATO/ISAF start) and were told, categorically, country by country, to essentially ignore it.
Basically, it's a weird part of the local culture that existed long before we got there & still exists today. By bluntly putting a stop to it whenever we saw it happening, the senior politicians and CoC were worried we would alienate the population against us. Plus, the Afghan police didn't remotely give a ****, it wasn't against their laws. (But if you drank any alcohol at all, the police would be all over you like white on rice...go figure)
A lot of countries had the unofficial policy that if you see it happening to a child (vice a teenager) you make it known that you'll put the adult in the dirt & intervene to keep the child as safe as realistically possible, but otherwise...just ignore it the best ya can
The Afghan warlords, Haqqani network, Taliban, etc werent being trained by coalition forces...although some members from each of those groups inevitably found their way into the training classes for sure
There were the odd insider attacks, usually during training, when a member of the ANA or ANP would randomly turn their weapon on coalition troops & cause mayhem...
...and during meal times. If we sat with our ANP counterparts, we wouldn't get hit with any rocket attacks.
BUT if we chose to sit separately from the ANP, like clockwork we would get a rocket attack almost every single time
The child rape phenomenon is a big deal. A huge deal.
But it's far less urgent when compared to the situation of huge numbers of unfriendly ppl with an evil agenda coming up through the southern border

As a combat vet, all i know is we trained the ANA and ANP, other tribes to resist the taliban and it was all wasted efforts.

Annd..I heard many soldiers from Afghanistan and USA agree that the will to fight can't be taught. When the small towns had support, they felt emboldened to fight against Taliban. Then, when the small town folk became threatened by Taliban and were alone, they reverted. You and I probably would too. Anyone, including translators for allies were killed. You didn't want anyone to know you were against Taliban. This is the fault of an American politician? regardless of which one. That's just facts and how people with their safety under threat will act.
