- Fyre Festival was a failed "luxury music festival" created with the intent of promoting the Fyre music booking app. It was scheduled to take place from April 28-30 and May 5-7, 2017, on the Bahamian island of Great Exuma.

exactly. This was not a good/smart idea in any sense. For the money they were some were willing paying, you could hop scotch around South East Asia.
The restaurant/ hotel owner Maryann Rolle is my sister's mother -in- law. Lovely woman. A shame what they did to her. A few months before all of this happened we had a lovely 10th anniversary vow renewal at her place. It was beautiful!

This documentary proved that there's 2 different types of social media....The majority of us NEVER seen the orange tile or promo video on IG because we don't follow certain influencers and etc. Majority of us heard about the Fyre Festival once the fiasco happened

I dont follow hardly anyone, but I remember seeing an ad for the festival once. It was a bit mysterious, looked neat but have very little information upfront. But when I saw some of the prices, I promptly clicked out of it and forgot about it. It was only when these documentaries came out that I remembered that.

Great observation, the target audience for the Fyre Festival were "old money" & trust fund kids. I too noticed that they didn't include any people of color in their marketing strategy. This was a lesson learned for the rich, gulliable and privileged.

But the thing is, the site was RIGHT NEXT to a large all inclusive hotel. They was tryna scam folks out of their money from jump... AND they had the festival there at a bad time. One of our largest festivals/ regattas was being held at the same time. The island is packed and hotels and villas are booked months in advance.

A fool and his money shall soon part. that’s it and that’s all. The Fyre Festival would have been dope if it was at an already functioning all inclusive hotel for the first rip. Then you build bungalows for the next year (maybe). Make the tickets a lottery system & put folks on a 3 year waiting list. Done. I worked at an elementary school that had a SIX year waiting list. 😩 so, I know this Festival waiting list would have worked

JaRule was in on it too...watch the Hulu documentary as well. I can’t remember which version, but right after the fiasco and they had a team meeting and he made a statement that they shouldn’t call it fraud but rather a misrepresentation of facts...at this point, I knew this ninja knew what was going it. In the Hulu version, they did say he was named as one of the defendants in the lawsuit Garagos & Garagos filed.

I've seen the Hulu one not the Netflix and the reason ja rule wasn't charged was because he was just a face. He didn't put in any money or sign off on deals he was just a model in advertising. Basically a handshake and verbal agreement

In the Hulu documentary it goes into more detail on his other ventures, specifically Magnises and the one from college. He actually never had a successful business. He was just running successful scams. With the credit card business, it wasn’t even a legit card. He basically made a copy of the customers existing debit card and sold it back to them for a $250 a month membership fee. He sold the idea of exclusive rewards but the cardholders didn’t know those rewards never existed. At the end of both documentaries you see he was running the same scam just using somebody else as the face of the con. He is not some misguided down on his luck business man. He is a sociopathic con artist. He in jail and got a scam going right now!
