    Thank you for making this. Im on the hunt for a (somewhat) older truck right now that I can do some light modifications to for soft roading and of course to daily driver. The Toyota Tacoma markups are insane, so I'm looking at older F150's, Nissan Frontiers, and even a Gen 1 Ridgeline. Reviews like these really help a ton!

    • @EverydayATV
      @EverydayATV  Před rokem +1

      @@awall2468 I just make sure I change the oil every 3k. I use Mobil-1 but the OEM Motorcraft synthetic blend is great too. The rear diff fluid was replaced when they fixed the gasket leak. Trans fluid was changed at 30k with my occasional boat towing.
      At 60k I’ll have the front diff fluid changed along with the transfer case. I’ll have them flush the coolant and brake fluid too. The OEM battery lasted 7.5 years 👍

    I take delivery of a used 2017 Supercrew 157 5.0 6spd tomorrow. Couldn't afford new so extremely well maintained used had to do. 80,000 miles on it, looks like showroom new. I'm praying for a min 150,000 miles more. I fell in love with the truck the minute I drove it. Anyways, really enjoyed going along for a ride with you and hearing all about your experiences with the truck. Nicely done! 😊

      Very happy for you….you will love the truck!!! I can’t tell you how happy I am having gone with the bigger 6.5’ box. Yes parking is a little more challenging but well worth the extra carrying capacity, not to mention I think the longer bed just makes the truck look nicer from the side view. There rear wheel wells are nicely centered in the bed. Couple of suggestions…I love the Forscan programming changes I made which includes the coolant and trans digital temp readings, eliminating the annoying horn double honk when exiting the truck with the engine running and being able to have the fog lights remain on when switching to high beams. I may do a follow up video on how I did those. Also if you have to get a tonneau cover, do not get one from BakFlip. I did a whole video on mine and absolutely hate it.
      Best of luck with the new ride and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out here.
      Thanks for watching and commenting and congrats on the new ride!!!

      Glad to help. The 2015-2017 with the 5.0 had 385hp and had the 6-speed transmission. In 2018 they did the facelift with new headlights and taillights. The 5.0 also went up to 395hp and used the new 10-speed transmission.
      If you like the metallic black paint (tuxedo black), that was only on the 2015’s and in 2016 they switched to the flat black (shadow black). They also introduced the trailer assist for backing up a trailer starting in 2016.
      Hope that helps. Thanks for the comments and for watching.

    I have a 2015 Lariat Ecoboost 4x4 that I ordered with 120K miles. It’s been ok, but I worry about the turbos. Towed my travel trailer 30K miles. Ordered with max tow package, big folding tow mirrors and 36 gallon tank. Extended warranty more than paid for itself after 5 years when replacing a big tow mirror and bad exhaust manifold. The turbos would get very hot towing up mountains. It’s a city truck now after getting my 2023 F250 diesel recently.

Got it @ 69K miles only one issue so far after 3k miles was the IWE vacuum tubing and check valve trying to lock my truck into 4WD at low speeds. @EverydayATV  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Thanks for the kind words. Planning on hanging onto this one for at least a few more years, especially since it’s still like brand new. I’d I were to buy another, I’d basically get the same truck, same platinum trim and also the 5.0 again. Problem is I’d have to cough up a lot of money to make the move to a newer one and half of the luxury features that would normally be on the platinum are not available at this time because of supplier shortages. I’ve seen videos from a dealership down south that says massaging seats, heated wheel and park assist are not available. In that case, I’d for with a Lariat instead but I’m totally happy with this one. Not sure if I would go with the 5.5’ box next time instead of the 6.5’ that I have now. Yea it would be easier to park and maneuver but the longer box has come in handy so many times, especially with the ATV in the bed and I think the longer box just makes the truck look nicer overall.

    Bought a 2015 Lariat FX4 in Tuxedo Black with the 5.0. Been a pretty good truck on the whole. Transmission cooler lines, Water Pump, and Rear Brakes and Cables have had to be replaced. Normal Tune up and Fluid changes. Always ran Synthetic 5w20. Have the 3.31 gears instead of 3.73, kinda miss the low end launch, but on the highway the mpg and powerband is great. Only complaint is the sound system is average at best, my 2002 Super Duty sound system was considerably better. Have a custom dual exhaust to hear the 5.0 and that made the truck better to me. Thanks for the video.

    • @EverydayATV
      @EverydayATV  Před měsícem +1

      Glad to hear you’ve had pretty good luck. Totally love the Tuxedo Black, which was only available in ‘15. I’m at 60k miles now. Just finished a 200 mile roadtrip today. Cruise set at 72mph with the A/C on and the 6.5’ bed fully loaded and still got 21 mpg. Engine was running right around 2k rpm. At my next oil change I think I’ll have the original plugs changed along with a transfer case fluid change and coolant flush. Just did rear brakes and rotors at 50k and the second set of Hankooks still have about 15k of tread left. So far I’m happy with the Sony sound system that came in the Platinum trim. The subwoofer rocks. Continued luck with yours 👍

    I ordered my 2015 super cab 6.5 ft bed XLT sport in November 2014 and didn't receive it until March.
    It has the 5.0 coyote, 3.55 gear ratio and 4X4 package.
    My repairs over the years have been quite a bit more extensive than yours.
    The first thing was the bed lighting button in the side of the bed.
    Once the rubber cover tore on the button, water got in and destroyed the button with corrosion leading to my bed lights turning on and off at random.
    I simply unplugged the switch and forgot about it.
    Second problem was the battery, at the three year mark the stock 550CCA battery was no longer enough to start the truck without electronic glitches in the dead of winter.
    So I replaced with a 760CCA battery.
    The third item was the accessory belts and belt tensioners.
    Once again at around the three year mark, both belt tensioners got so corroded that they no longer applied enough pressure on the belts to stop them from slipping.
    since replacing with aftermarket tensioners, I haven't had an issue since.
    The fourth issue, and this is an ongoing issue, was the 4x4 vacuum hub solenoid going out due to corrosion.
    This also lead to the 4x4 vacuum hub actuators being torn in two pieces leaving the ring gear permanently engaged to the axle.
    Had to replace both the solenoid and both vacuum hub actuators, this was about 3.5 years into ownership and I just had to do it again this year.
    About 5 years in, corrosion on the wheels got so bad all the wheels started to leak air pressure.
    By this point I was ready to buy aftermarket wheels, so I junked the stock wheels and installed Black Rhino beadlock winterized rims. zero problems ever since.
    Since the new wheels were about double the weight of the old wheels the stock suspension was having difficultly keeping the wheels under control.
    So at about 6 years in i replace all the suspension with aftermarket.
    Went with bilstein 6112's in the front and 5160's in the back with hellwig sway bars front and back.
    Completely transformed the truck's ride quality in the best way possible.
    The next repair item was basic engine maintenance at around year 7 with all new spark plugs and a new throttle body, which was sorely needed as the stock one had play.
    That brings us to this year where I did a complete overhaul on the drive train.
    Replaced all wheel bearings with aftermarket upgraded bearings, replaced drive shaft U-joints and all drive train fluids plus filters.
    While doing this, I also discovered the transmission cooler lines had rotted right through on the front motor mounting bracket.
    So cooler lines were replaced as well, something to check periodically by the way.
    This month I replaced the grille which was entirely cosmetic, but I wanted one of the honeycomb grilles with the marker lights.
    Next year I plan on replacing all the incandescent bulbs with LED housings, then probably after market bumpers as the stock ones are starting to rot away with rust.
    The one problem I never fixed that still annoys me to this day is the suicide door latch freezing in the humid winter days.
    Still pisses me off to this day when it happens.
    Even with all the issues, I still love the truck. It just become a hobby keeping the thing issue free.

    • @EverydayATV
      @EverydayATV  Před 7 měsíci

      Thanks for sharing your experience. Wow, a variety of things over the years. I had the Ford 7 year warranty and luckily didn’t need it for much, mostly electric stuff like mirror LEDs etc. My OEM battery lasted 7 years and that’s with being parked outside with Midwest winters. I still don’t know what I’m going to do with the wheels. I love the look and design. Thinking of having them professionally redone to the factory finish as I like the polished look with the tuxedo black metallic paint. I would consider aftermarket as long as they are the exact same offset, etc. as the factory wheels. I don’t want any change in any of the suspension geometry set up.
      I love this truck too. As long as I don’t run into any major mechanical issues, I could easily see owning this for another 5 years. It’ll still have under 100k miles by that time (I have 55k now).
      Thanks for watching and commenting.

    I have a question, does your truck’s steering wheel feel extremely light/delicate? I have one exactly like yours, except a 2016, and its steering wheel is so light, any little movement and the truck responds. I have yet to drive any other vehicle that steers so easily. Anyone who drives my truck instantly notices the steering sensitivity. Just wanted to know if yours is the same. Awesome video!

    • @EverydayATV
      @EverydayATV  Před 11 měsíci

      Thanks for the kind words.
      I would have to say while the steering effort is light, the sensitivity to steering response seems fairly normal to every other vehicle I’ve ever had. That includes a ‘97 Ford Expedition and an ‘04 Lexus GX470. I’ve just recently had an alignment, as I had a loose tie rod replaced and the steering still feels the same. We have two other vehicles in the family that are on opposite sides of the steering spectrum. The 2019 jeep Wrangler Rubicon has so much play in the steering wheel. It’s hard to keep the vehicle going straight down the highway without constant corrections. Then our 2020 Honda CRV is so sensitive that you move the steering wheel a fraction of an inch, and it seems like a go cart. I’m happy that the F150 is kind of in the middle of the two. Curious if you have the park assist option (I do) and if that makes any difference.
      Thanks for watching and for commenting.

      @@EverydayATV I do have park assist, as well as lane centering. The truck fully optioned like yours. I will say, after replacing the wheel barrings, the steering became a little more sensitive. I can go straight and it doesn’t have much play, but any little movement and the truck goes that direction. Kind of weird, I drive a 2013 expedition, or a 2017 mustang and it feels like my driving a boat.

I thought the sticker of $63,000 (I paid way less) for mine was crazy back in 2015, but that’s nothing compared to what they are now. Continued best of luck with yours.

      If you have a Limited, then you’ve got the 3.5L Ecoboost V6. Not sure what you mean by your cam was done. Did you have problems with the cam or cam phasers and it was fixed?

    Hello if anyone has a little guidance I would really appreciate it. Looking at a 2015 lariat v8 with coyote engine for about $25k around 110k miles. The other is a 2018 limited with 135k miles for $23k. The trucks are both nice. I don’t know too much about fords. It would be my first truck

    • @EverydayATV
      @EverydayATV  Před 2 měsíci

      Interesting that the 2018 happens to be 3 years newer and 2 trims higher than the 2015, yet less money. Keep in mind that the Limited with have the high output Ecoboost V6 vs the Coyote V8 in the 2015. The 2015 will also have the tried and true 6 speed automatic vs the new 10 speed in the 2018. It will be a personal choice between the two. Front end styling and rear taillight are also different between the two as 2018 was the mid cycle refresh.

      @@EverydayATVthanks for getting back to me ! I know it’s a tough choice. Which do you think is mote reliable ? Anything I should look out for? I just want it to last long and have minimal problems. I workout be towing or anything (don’t have anything to tow) more for hauling some house and gardening stuff and driving it half the week. Also what do you think of the pricing ? For the lariat I’ve been seeing similar pricing. No one seems to want to go down. Wasn’t really looking for a limited but it popped up so figured why not

    • @EverydayATV
      @EverydayATV  Před 2 měsíci

      @@sacredgrounds_ cant really comment on which engine is more reliable as I don’t have any experience with the Ecoboost. Both engines are know for having issues with having the cam phasers serviced or replaced. I worry a bit about the turbos with that high mileage. One other thing to keep in mind is that the 2015 has a fairly normal 12-13k miles out on it very year whereas the Limited would have had over 20k miles out on it every year. The key question there is what has been the service history?…..did it get an oil change at least every 5K, meaning that it had 5 oil changes per year? Is the service history available for either or both? For pricing, I would go out to kbb.com and see if the pricing for both is reasonable, as I really don’t know. Hope that helps and good luck.

    Beware! At 90,000 the 10 speed transmissions are failing. My 2018. 5.0 Lariot went at 98,000. Won't by another 10 speed trans. FYI.

    I bought the 2015 XL Ecoboost 3.5L New. Around 42,000 now. No major issues knock on wood. I recently replaced one O2 sensor, tires, front & back brakes. Only issue I have is the door actuators after the recall. They started to act up. Before recall everything was good.

      Glad to hear yours has been good for you too. I’m at 55k miles now at the 9 year mark. On my second set of Hankook tires, as I had to replace the originals at 30k because they were starting to dry rot. Recently had the rear pads and rotors replaced. Paint and body is still perfect.

    • @EverydayATV
      @EverydayATV  Před rokem +2

      @@RAIDERxNATION yes so on the 2015’s, the super cab with the 6.5’ box and the super crew with the 5.5’ box both ride on the 145” wheelbase. The super crew like mine with the 6.5’ box rides on a 156.8” wheelbase. The longer wheelbase does make for a smooth ride but does make it a pain to not stick out in the aisle in traditional parking lots.

      @@EverydayATV right on, I might have to seek this option, again, I was under the impression only super duty and above had the longer 6.5’ & 8’ beds. That would make it a lot better for my family as I need that bed size for hauling or camping gear and dog space. Thanks!

      @@RAIDERxNATION Cool. Just remember, if you want a SuperCrew Cab with an 8’ box, you’ll have to go with a Super Duty. The F-150 SuperCrew only goes up to the 6.5’ box 👍
