Thank you so much for your video. Today I was able to get my address change in INM for my family of 4. I followed all the insrtuctions given by you and generate forms and letters within an hour. Then went to Mexico city polanco office for enquiring about how to take appointment for it. I was there around 1:30pm. I enetered from the main door and in front of it, they have window 61 for the information and enquiry. The INM person told me that you can take appointemnt for tomorrow at the small tent near to the first gate. I got the appointment for today at 9:30am. At 10:30 my work is done and they changed the address in the system. They dont charge anything for this. Also we saved money that we had to give to the lawyer. And it's all possible becasue it this video. Thank you.

Hey Paul, Thanks for the video. I am in the middle of completing my change of address in Hermosillo (state of Sonora). I got the documents from INM as per your video. I also searched for a way to set an appt on-line with INM but found no way to do so, so I just followed your instruction of going to the local INM office. However, INM informed me that they don't provide the actual change service for foreigners and directed me to the SAT office which, fortunately, was only a block away. But SAT, of course, does take on-line appointments and wouldn't see me when I showed up. Anyway, long story short. I had to make an on-line appointment with SAT (which I learned in one of your other videos) to take the information I downloaded from INM with your help in this video to complete the process. Maybe it is different regions or states, but this is my experience here in Sonora.

I can't seem to do anything here without a utility bill even if it is not in my name. So while I actually own an address, it looks like I have to keep paying someone in order to use their address, because the development utility bill is registered in tulum instead of at the development. I know why you're asking this. There are so-called "helpful helpers, for a fee" who continually post falsehoods on their Facebook civil lists and blogs about INM showing up to inspect your living property on file to be certain you really live there. Then they'll add, "call us right away to avoid huge fines, jail time or possibly expulsion from the country."
The fines aren't that huge. It's like a slap on the wrist for forgetting, and there is no jail time. And they're not going to take your residency card and kick you out of the country. Mexico wants your money.
The only thing you might possibly serve some jail time for is expired temporary or tourist visa (for a week or a month), then you "might" be banned for a year from the country. If you are, just wait a year, then return. It will be like "business as usual."
Not discounting the importance of accuracy on your INM file, you better stay up on it. Because if you get hit more than once with this, (address change or civil status) they will start looking how to get you out of the country.

I've heard of two people that I do not know personally in Yucatán claiming they got a visit, but it's hard to know if it's really true or not.

@@DenLD Probably not true. If you hear it directly from an individual and they show you oictures of the visit and the paperwork, then believe it.

"In theory there is no difference between Theory and Practice. In Practice there is!" - Yogi Berra, Manager, New York Yankees. You forgot to multiply the fine that would apply in theory, by the relevant reductive factors: a) The % probability that you will ever be checked... b) The % probability that they have any method or motivation for contesting the recorded address. Balance that Expected Value versus the 100% certainty that you will piss away another irreplaceable day of your life for the sake of bureaucratic compliance....

Good point Jim. From our experience, this becomes a problem for people when they have some reason to return to INM (e.g. residency renewal or lost card). That's when the new proof of address doesn't match what is on file and questions come up when that change of residency occurred.

The captcha is idiotic. I KNOW I've typed 10 in a row accurately, and it hasn't accepted one of them.
