So lemme get this straight - Brian is saying that, for this project, he’s going to record the psalms of the Bible (“the songbook of the Bible” as he puts it)…but he’s also talking about how he needs to spend more time “writing” for this project. The psalms are ALREADY written though.
Is he talking about the instrumentals? Because basically every serious musician I know would use words like “composing” or “arranging” or maybe “reharmonizing” or something like that to describe that. “Writing” (to me at least) implies the lyrics. Did that strike anyone else as being strange? Or am I being pedantic?
He’s probably just shortening “songwriting”, which is used more in pop-like genres.
that’s a very very good point, i didn’t even think about that! i guess he’s just spending the whole time figuring out how to put them into the instrumental but it feels weird that he wouldn’t be doing the performance at least??
@@caidalee1994 I mean, “songwriting” is a word I feel like mostly refers to the process of writing lyrics for songs, even in the pop and pop-adjacent realm (which I’m in as a folk and rock musician). After all, the definition of a “song” is basically just a piece of music with lyrics (it’s just the noun form of the verb “sing,” after all). A frontperson for a band can still be considered a singer/songwriter even if the other band members created the bulk of the instrumental accompaniment (and the credits in the liner notes usually make this distinction very clear). And I feel like most musicians wouldn’t call setting existing lyrics to music “songwriting”, because the song (the lyrics) has already been written. They’d say “composing” music or “arranging” (if they’re writings parts for several different instruments) or “accompanying” (if they’re speaking in the present tense), or “re-harmonizing” (if they’re replacing existing music for the song’s lyrics with their own, or if they’re a jazz head), or “setting it to music.” (Maybe I’m just being redundant right now, but hopefully by putting my thoughts into other words helps to communicate my point a little better)
Sure, you could use the word “writing” (as I did a second ago) specifically when saying “I’m working on writing the melody/chord progression/drum parts/whatever”, but I don’t know anyone who would shorten any of that to merely the word “writing”, because the word “writing,” on its own, implies first and foremost the lyrics. Brian doesn’t have any rightful claim to say that he “wrote” any of the Psalms he’s recorded, in the same way that I don’t have any right to claim that I “wrote” the songs “Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?” or “Oh, Death” just because I’ve arranged and recorded my own unique versions of those songs that diverge significantly from the source material. If I simply said that I “wrote” (or even “co-wrote”) those songs in my liner notes, I should be rightfully accused of plagiarism.
God I’m an over-explainer. I’m in a weird headspace and my filter is GONE. Forgive my semantic pedantry plz 😅

question: how are men fitted to rule? I keep hearing them say something to that effect but they never elaborate on what qualities men have that make them good rulers, and why women _don't_ have those qualities. If I were to guess at their responses they would include: greater physical strength (why would physical strength be helpful to ruling? doesn't the guy at the top command the strong guys to do things?), logic (are women incapable of logic? I use logic every damn day! you're going to need to provide some evidence for that that isn't just circular), a greater emotional control (bruh, I have seen men blow up over the smallest things, while the women around them keep their cool because they aren't raging balls of testosterone.), that men are more dominant and less likely to be pushed around by other people (as if there have never been any easily controllable men, though sex for example, or as if women _haven't_ been explicitly raised to be meek by these same sorts of people. And besides, there's the stereotype that women are manipulators right? wouldn't that make them uniquely suited to leadership positions? It would suggest that they're more knowledgeable of social engineering and would be better able to evade those same tactics and use them on their political opponents.)
Meanwhile, I could make a decent case for why women are suited to leadership positions: greater social engagement, (women tend to have much stronger social skills then men, at least with how terribly the current men were raised), cool heads in times of strife (because of lower testosterone), an investment in the raising of children (assuming sexist gender rules; kids are the future of the country and strong children mean the country will continue to be strong going forward), hell you could even argue that since men are, on average, stronger physically, they shouldn't be in leadership roles because they're needed to...move boxes? but women can't do that (for some reason?) so they need to fulfill other, less physically intensive roles in society. And you know what? I'm pretty sure that some cultures have had this view. The men do the war and the labor and all that and the women stay in the village, organize things and take care of the kids while they're at it.
And the bible isn't compelling evidence. I'm an atheist so its just another book to me, but there are plenty of Christians who don't subscribe to this idea that men are the only ones allowed to lead, and they can probably defend their position with passages in the bible. If they choose to try in any case. I would like it if they did, I vastly prefer the nice Christians to the shitty ones, and they have the best shot at convincing other Christians to drop these harmful beliefs (they just ignore me because I'm an outsider ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
I will say, I thought his music was alright. I dislike the message and the guy singing so I'll never listen voluntarily, but it wouldn't be torture if I was tied down and forced to listen to all of it. Ringing praise I know.
Well to be blunt they believe women aren’t fit for leadership because the Bible commands men to hold the positions of clergy (besides nuns etc). and because they take the the bible as their objective morality. so whatever evidence you have to the contrary- they dont care. god has ordained it this way and thats it.
this doesnt go for all christians btw but its usually what evangelicals believe.
@@uwu-fm2kj well that's the problem isn't it? The only possible answer is "because god said so" but that's not even compelling for all Christians! If it truly was god's plan and god created everything, why _isn't_ there a biological reason for men to be the leaders? So for people like me who don't believe, and many reasonable Christians, it just isn't enough to justify things.
Unfortunately, guys like this pastor cannot be convinced, they're too deep into this mindset. Only thing you can do is try and prompt those who aren't so deep to question what he's teaching. Which is what I was hoping to do :)

These type of Christians love to convienantly forget that when you lust over women in your mind, *you* are the one committing the sin. The bible made Men accountable to their gaze, and that it is up to the man to control himself, not the woman. If we were doing the same biblical punishments, he'd have a hard time tweeting against women with no eyes.

It legit won't take 15,000 to do an album unless you're paying writers and producers. Therefore we can conclude Brian is very untalented. Studio time would not cost 15 grand if you're hiring the equipment. If it does, you're going to the wrong rentals.
Also I saw in another comment that he was just adding new instrumentals and stuff to existing psalms, and most people say composing or arranging or whatever when talking about the music itself, so like why does he need money for writing
6:15 “ DONT SKIP. And I will know if you skip, don’t ask me how ,but I will know.” 🚩What a manipulative, creepy lie. Big red flag- he’s a predator who abuses power.
It's interesting how he seems to think pastors have some kind of power, and not that they're... messengers of the lord? Like what does ruling anything have to do with being a pastor? If you have intentions of ruling anything, you shouldn't be a pastor at all?
hes on stuck on the medieval times mentally, so thats probably why

Not to be mean/insensitive but a possible reason why secular music artists (music artists that don’t make religious music) are more popular than religious music artists is because their bigotry and overzealous attitude gets in the way of their creativity. They also spend too much time shitting on and harming people for being *people* .
When you're entire existence is devoted to one singular thing and that one thing is a super narrow prescribed idea and that idea is already trite af you can't bring a lot of creativity to the table. That's why they bite the sound of popular secular artists and write entire songs that are just a Bible verse and elaborating on the Bible verse
I think there should be a balance between expressing your faith and just making good personal music. Hell, NF makes some good clean rap but he also produces Christian songs, he doesn't make everything JUST about being a Christian which gets old real quick.

But many musicians have done this exact style better and without being complete turd people so this is in no way ground breaking. Also there are songs with Christian themes that are good but most "Christian" genre music sucks because it's either focused more on the Jesus and less on the composition or it's got a hateful message/comes from crappy people.

it's a pastor, what did we expect?
Maybe for at least one pastor to live by their own rules? I mean, the Bible literally says "Don't judge, so that you won't be judged."
That's why I live by the 8 commandments of the flying spaghetti monster, also known as the 8 "I’d really rather you didn’ts". Number 3 is important in this context here:
"I’d really rather you didn’t judge people for the way they look, or how they dress, or the way they talk, or, well, just play nice, okay? Oh, and get this in your thick heads: woman = person. Man = person. Samey-samey. One is not better than the other, unless we’re talking about fashion and I’m sorry, but I gave that to women and some guys who know the difference between teal and fuchsia."

It’s gross bc he claims us fellow human beings as “brothers and sisters” in the way that we should care for one another. But a REAL brother wouldn’t perpetuate disgusting sexism towards their sisters.
He’s referring to “brothers and sisters in Christ.” At many churches (including the one I grew up in) all members of the church will be addressed as “brother (insert name)” or “sister (so and so)”
It feels kind of culty in hindsight, but it definitely has nothing to do with being part of an actual family unit.
I read that first word incorrectly lmao
Me too! 😂
Love how in the first one someone went “no one asked”
-your sister
do you think a dogma that insists you just have to do a bunch of good deeds and then you get to leave earth forever and go to paradise maybe leads to people focusing on "good deeds" in the short term such as immediate acts of charity while not really giving a shit about the long-term effects of their actions on their children and society and the planet? just a thought
That's actually a common misconception on how you get to heaven. The Bible actually teaches that no amount of our works, or "good deeds", could ever get us into heaven. We are born into sin. Sin makes us disconnected from God because of our unrighteousness. Jesus died on the cross bearing the judgement of our sin from the Father and rose again to give us his righteousness when we accept the work of Jesus Christ. So in short, accept Jesus and his work and eternal life is given to you to experience full relationship with God. Just felt like sharing what I've learned from seeking the Lord genuinely for myself. It's a shame people like this "pastor" distort the gospel and pervert what it means to walk as a true Christian.
religion has always been used to keep men in power.
Im honestly really surprised you can still make videos about these types of people 😭 id give up on the internet forever after like the second guy lmaoo
0:48 Love how the first response is just “here I am looking for who asked”
How can this Brian guy be qualified to be a pastor? Can someone explain to me (I'm not Christian, so please do share any information that I need to know)
I mean it kind of depends on the denomination he teaches, but also you can just call yourself a pastor as long as you have a following tbh
It sadly doesn't take much for men to be pastors because many Christians still believe that God wants them (men) to lead and rule and that everybody has to "submit" to what they say and want. Since many, if not most, Christians are still sexist af, why so ever because Jesus actually told men to respect women and to treat them normally, opinions like his are pretty common and expected
It depends on the denomination, but for most one has to attend a certain amount of years at a seminary school for your respective denomination. Some denominations also require vicarage, which is essentially student teaching for pastors. Sadly, most denominations (at least where I am) follow the only men can become pastors rule.
Depends. If he’s a part of the more new age churches it takes no qualifications whatsoever to be a “pastor”. Older churches tend to be stricter with clergy selection.
So I actually looked this guy up and his church to try and find the answer... I think they are Reformed (probably Evangelical of some type as well given the complementarian beliefs). There is a lot of variety in that denomination, and it's usually pretty buttoned-up, so I suspect they're part of a smaller, looser subset. According to the church website, this guy just has a B.A. in Biblical Studies. Doesn't say from where. I would like to point out right now that such a degree probably does not qualify you to be a pastor in many older, more established denominations. I am surprised that someone who has so little formal theological study is allowed to be a head pastor.
You can be a pastor without going to seminary, like many youth pastors, but generally that requires a lot of hands-on work, and you're generally not exactly preaching, much less in front of an entire congregation. Seminary is a master's degree. It takes much longer than a regular master's program (my dad went to seminary for like 14 years). Some pastors even have PhDs. I also want to point out here that many mainstream Protestant churches in the US (Anglicans, Methodists, Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Unitarians, etc.) allow female pastors, though there usually aren't as many as there are male pastors. So organized religion doesn't have to be inherently sexist.
I kinda miss his structured videos rather than twitch stream clips

DENTON, clairo, taylor swift
the wiggles, the neighborhood
MITSKI
okay thats all i got
dojaa
I appreciate your content so much you have no idea how comforting it is
Where ever u see sin u will find a pastor
babe i'm sorry but don't promote sending missionaries out, that's just another form of colonization and the countries that missionaries go to are always not white
Of course his name is brain and a pastor
Nick accidentally hitting the sound buttons is like my favourite long-running channel joke ever.
Nick you should talk about how tiktok vids can be promoted on the fyp so like 80% of views could be non-genuine
Or test and see if you can get a bunch of views!!
No offence to Brian Sauve, but im pretty sure Gospell congragations got this whole good Christian music thing down and idk that we need his mediocre music.
(I say this as someone who is an Athiest who loves Gospell music)
I read "Sexiest" instead of sexist, didn't understand what made this pastor so sexy. Misread Sauve as Suave, and I was like. Hm. Sexy... suave... yeah that checks out.
😂😂😂 when you started dancing...
I'm ashamed that I read *Sexiest Pastor" and I was nervous to go forward with the video😂 it's 5am and I clearly need sleep.
was just looking for more of your videos, nice
To quote number 3 of the 8 commandments of the flying spaghetti monster, also known as the 8 "I’d really rather you didn’ts":
"I’d really rather you didn’t judge people for the way they look, or how they dress, or the way they talk, or, well, just play nice, okay? Oh, and get this in your thick heads: woman = person. Man = person. Samey-samey. One is not better than the other, unless we’re talking about fashion and I’m sorry, but I gave that to women and some guys who know the difference between teal and fuchsia."
aren't there 10?
Oh nevermimd
Hi Nick, I hope you're having a good day :) Fuck this pastor lmao
Your videos are perfect before sleep..such a soothing voice n chill vibe 😌 ✨ 👌
ok but Nick getting tf down to that sea shanty of a Christian song LMAO
He said christian music fell off yet kanye sold 1mil on an album about God just last year? maybe make good music and people would listen
Can someone tell that pasture guy that men can actually lactate thus they can breast-feed like if someone would tweet that to him that would be amazing because He really needs a biology lesson
I just want to say this video is very funny and I love your energy in this. Good job Nick thank you for the content!!
i LOVE the replies to that first tweet at the beginning that guy was read to filth and it makes me so happy
Oh no but it's even better. His name is, I believe, French, given the last letter, which has a special sound in my language. And in French, "sauvé" means "to be saved, the one who has been saved/who was saved". So I'm willing to bet this get voluntarily chose this name because he's a pastor AND HE WAS SAVED
Honestly, as much as I was ready to hate it, the music itself wasnt bad. Now I don't care much for the content of the lyrics as I'm a nonbeliever, and its only purpose is an obvious grift for $15k. But cant really say the actual music was bad.
This thing about women in leadership roles. He needs to read up on how Empress Maud played & won the game of thrones, Elizabeth I, Victoria, and the present English queen. You only need to look at 17th century England & Scotland to see how terrible men can be at leadership roles.
Always love your videos Nick!
Christians: We're the next coolest...
Everyone else: Let us stop you there.
😂
I just want to say that although i love your daily uploads and streams i really do enjoy the interviews you do with people, it's really neat to see the different kinds of people you feature. I think the conversational style of interviewing feels really personal and comfortable too. Keep it up dude I'm excited to see where you go. ☺️
0:50 I love Alanah Pierce's tweet back. She's an incredible person!

We should make an environment without things women have created and put him there.
