- We travel from Breukelen to Schoonhovel via Utrecht. We stop for the night in Schoonhoven and I look at raising the mast on my own. There’s a Ford Model T and bells at the end!
Thanks for the vids... we went a similar way in October 21 with our 1898 dutch barge "Vrij", going from Werkendam to Gelsenkirchen / Germany and to our final port in Kiel this summer....
Wow! What a journey! I hope to bring Linda back through Europe in the future. 1898. There’s something special about a boat with a birthday in the 19th Century.
I'm loving all these vids
Thank you Ang!❤️
The antique green car was a Ford Model A
That’s it! I was watching a video about the model A the other day and I didn’t make the connection. Both cars were immaculate!
finally we get to see how the mast operates...kinda...
Hi John, In other videos, it’s up and down like a yo-yo. You’ll be a dab hand!
@@canicebannon thanks Canice. is there a reason that there is not more lead counter weight so that the weight of the mast is nearly balanced thus requiring very little power to move from position to position?
This is correct. There is a slight bias as it comes down. The reason is this, you give it a tug on the rope until you have about a 10/15 degree angle coming down. You are still balanced and you can walk to the winch at the front and start letting it down under control, but gravity is doing the work. When you go to bring it up you have to put a bit of effort in, but it is controlled at the winch whether going up or down with the exception of the first 10/15 degrees. You got to knock it over to get it to fall, after all it is a tree!
@@canicebannon thank you Canice. i am enjoying your adventures with the barge.
Blimey it's not the Kennet and Avon is it?
Hahaha! Everything is on a massive scale!
That remark made me laugh kennet and Avon.😜😀
