  • Some have you may have noticed these bits popping up in my videos over the past few months. Here then finally is my Review. Links below.
Featured are 2 bearing guided compression bits and one spiral compression bit for wood routing. They feature alternating blades/cutters so that they down cut into both face edges of the work piece, giving improved edge cut quality as a result.
The bits were gifted for review by Banggood.
Banggood links below are affiliate links so, if you use them to purchase these bits or anything else, I may make a small commission at no extra cost to you - and thank you if you do!

It is your channel and I completly understand that you may feel like a "cheap low end worker", doing all the hard work running the chanel, but someone else pocket the profit. It seems to be a new drug to watch gear reviews and buying more than needed, but not actually putting those tools to work much. To repeat the classic "the best tool for the job is the one you already have".
Thanks and please do what makes YOU happy!!

Appreciate the comment mate, thanks. I do think reviews are useful. Nice to see kit actually in someone's hands or in use, as well as (When presented honestly) helping the viewer sort the good from the bad. You're right though. We don't actually NEED most of it. Since making this, I've dropped a couple of the worst offenders as I saw it. One of them unfortunately a British manufacturer. Have continued to do reviews for Banggood. Bizarrely, they're actually one of the fairer companies to work with - with regards being an affiliate anyway. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks Paul. Yeah, I appreciate bits like this, even though cheaper than established brands still represent a bit of an investment for the now and again user. A 2 flute bit for a fiver will essentially do the same job. Just not as well or for as long. @@BischBaschBosch I wonder - what would be the use of a compression bit of you don't hit the top AND bottom of your work piece? The way you show using them here you could use a downcut spiral bit since the bit was shorter than the workpiece... And then come from the other side

    • @BischBaschBosch
      @BischBaschBosch  Před rokem

@@mikec3546 It's a good question Mike. I perhaps should've talked about that. I can think of a couple though. First is - at least with these 21mm dia' type - they can really hog away material in a way I've never seen a standard spiral do. Second is, it saves you flipping work if cutting deeper than the bit. Your first plunge effectively down cut, the second, up cut. For me, this works well as I use templates and a router stabiliser set for that height. A right pain to flip over. One last reason would be that a down cut spiral will sometimes leave some furring at the tip (centre of the work being cut if you like). I've had this furring kind of snag before leaving little pits on certain woods (ash and iroko come to mind). Not an issue with compression bits I've found. They just generally cut better. Guess I could've just said that😂🤷‍♂️

    So...... here goes.
Router Bits. - These are great. I bought some this time last year. The were about £35/£40 but of course, everythings gone up a bit. Really nice cutting and an absolute steal for the price. I bought the chunky badboys but also some other smaller, narrower bearing guided up/downcut bits. They were only £9 or £10. Daylight robbery buying bits like that for such little £. I'd recommend them.
Reviews. - I'll stick around for non-review content and workshopy stuff. It's great. I'm sure a sizeable amount of us are happy seeing workshop projects, jig builds and so forth. There will always be 'reviews' on other channels if viewers want a 'review' video.
Well done for not being a YT shill and selling out/reviewing/promoting any old shit. It's hard to turn down $, especially in current times but it's commendable. Spot on, mate, I enjoy a tool review, but there are far too many reviews on CZcams that are so light on detail with, at most, a few hours of use under their belt.
They are no more than a product demonstration video that I could get from the manufactures website. I understand CZcamsrs need to get some benefit out of the hard work they are putting in. It's a risky strategy to push out low-level unboxing/product demo videos on behalf of tool manufacturers that offer very little benefit to the viewer.
In saying this, I can personally attest to your tool reviews videos being some of the best I see on youtube.

Came to your video, I realised because I don’t have any clamps at all, 50 is not bad deal for me when I factor in shipping and customs to Pakistan. Th massive headache of custom clearance. Hopefully in the future I can get others interested in woodworking, or at the very least make little custom gifts to wow my battery clients and business partners 🤭. The beginning is expensive and hard, but that is always the case with anything in life. But if I decide to do it, I might as well keep on challenging myself, improving my skills and help out others. I noticed this year, we have a very simple traditional bed frame made from wood and the middle is cotton, rope, or other material weaved in. In future if there is a flood or other natural disaster, I can set things up and help out that way. That's just it. The value if the exchange is pretty one sided in the long haul. Thing is, if you take money, then you're basically employed to promote it, not give an unbiased review. Affiliate links to products make very little to compensate either. Pittance really. I'm not on YT for the money though. Don't want to feel mugged off for generating £10,000's in sales for a pittance return either though.🤷‍♂️

Yes a difficult decision to review without prior knowledge but this one was great as it showed real comparison with all the products you used in actual work related processes. otherwise sight unseen you are just another clueless promoter

Ask for more money or a spiff on sales

That's the thing mate - I've never accepted, or been offered money. Just the tools. As soon as you accept money, you're basically an employee paid to advertise, not a reviewer. I do use affiliate links on some of the products where you can make a tiny commission, but it's a tiny, tiny amount compared to the sales generated. I'll not be accepting anymore review gear I think.

Hey man, first off, do what makes YOU happy, otherwise you sure as hell won't stick to it long term imho.
And secondly, maybe there is a middle ground to this?
Doing mostly videos on projects that you wanna do anyway for yourself, see where it will take you.
And sprinkle in some product review for stuff you actually enjoy once in a while, almost like an "hey guys, just fyi, this tool is a good buy" kind of deal.
But I totally get that you kinda feel "used" as a shill for the companys that send you stuff.
    Strange new world...
    Greetings from Germany!

Of course mate. I think I prefer the idea of maybe just mentioning something I like in a video of a build like you said. Don't think I'll be accepting any products from manufacturers anymore though. 👍
