Coming from an auto racer, I find this video interesting from a strategy standpoint.
If I KNEW I was going to have to stop for pit (or a pee) at some point, and environmental conditions are tough, and i know how fast I can recover in X amount of time (as most cyclist can), I think being as aggressive as possible up until that pee stop makes a lot of sense. Be smart and use the drafts and wind shadows to your advantage, but there is little/no penalty for staying at the front if you know you have to stop and rest for 30-60 seconds.

Grew up in central KS- one of the flattest, windiest places in the US. At 130 lbs racing in High School, you had to learn how to hide and ride echelons. Especially when the winds in the summer were frequently 25mph + with gusts 30-40mph. Getting gutter-balled could be game over very quickly.

Right before my start time, I decided to take a swig of Keytones for a boost, and at that moment I knew. I grabbed a handle of napkins and ran straight to the tree line into the woods, barely making it before having a massive loose bowel movement. I am now super paranoid of doing that again before my race!

@ejstrainingcamp in the race report after this stage there was a note about the Ottolock team car being cut from the caravan or something of that nature. What happened? Was it something around getting back up to the peloton after the pee break?
It’s because we didn’t take our bike rack off I think 😂 they yelled at us about it after…whoops!

I've noticed a change in the last several videos. Where at first there was none, now it's all we have. Is it strategy or just random choice? Guessing it could be a coach thing because it minimizes windage?

@@tt-tk9076 Triathletes piss themselves without hesitation just for a chance to finish 152nd in their age group. Maybe roadies are afraid of getting their hands dirty?
