i have a sram red bike and i think these levers/hoods are possibly more than i would like to spend on a bike i already like but the change in ergonomics and the buttons are probably going to wind up being worth it to me in the end. but i’m in the ‘bike race’ group of people.

While most of the cycling channels I used to follow have turned into content farms, you guys seem to remember that bikes are, in fact, fun. It was always going to be expensive but we all know it’ll be heavily discounted within 12 months. Feel they missed an opportunity to go below Shimano RRP. You’ve got to be a die hard sram fan to turn down dura ace for £2000 cheaper and go with this instead. It is very pretty though

SRAM has a 10t at the rear. Shimano’s smallest is an 11t
The irony is that despite SRAM’s marketing efforts, pro’s don’t like the smaller front rings.
Since that means using the smaller cogs at the rear leading to more drivetrain losses.

The fact that the chainrings cannot be replaced by the user simply shows this thing isn't meant for mortals like you and me. A pro team? Sure, they have the mechanics and the sponsorships to make it work.

Although one piece cassetes look dope, i hate to buy every 2 chains another cassette because 2 cogs are too worn out to be used with a third chain.. especially with those super expensive sram cassetes (XX1)

No 10-44 cassette, which is disappointing. For the 1x riders, we'll have to stick to the Rival/Force pinned cassettes.

At least finally only 1 FD. So you can run 46 and up to the 56. Finally like the good ol days. Last version was terrible for that and too expensive having to buy a new FD for people who run 52+

Comparisons to the new drops by WheelTop, Magene and LTwoo. I'm sure SRAM have tested it to death, the Chinese offerings are still ironing out issues. But still too expensive.

I've never liked the look of SRAM gruppos. And I have to say, the new design is still meh to me.
Plus I hate that they use dot 5 for their brakes, and that the kit to purge your brake liquid is $150 (CAD).
The only company that makes good looking groupsets is still Campagnolo. Their gruppos are also the most ergonomic of the bunch.

Agree 100% but the problem is replacement Campy components are so freaking hard to get your hands on these days. After 35 years of riding nothing but Campy my next build will be with SRAM, not this version but .......

@@swe223 I asked. I received answer. I Googled for confirmation: A box of light weighs more than an empty box. The reason is that ALL forms of energy have weight. However, under ordinary earthly conditions, the weight of light is insignificant compared to other weights.
