___________________________________
Gandalf: Frodo has passed beyond my sight. The darkness is deepening.
Aragorn: If Sauron had the Ring, we would know it.
Gandalf: It's only a matter of time. He has suffered a defeat, yes... ...but behind the walls of Mordor, our enemy is regrouping.
Gimli: Let him stay there. Let him rot! Why should we care?
Gandalf: Because 10,000 Orcs now stand between Frodo and Mount Doom.
I've sent him to his death.
Aragorn: No. There is still hope for Frodo. He needs time and safe passage across the plains of Gorgoroth. We can give him that.
Gimli: How?
Aragorn: Draw out Sauron's armies. Empty his lands. Then we gather our full strength and march on the Black Gate.
Éomer: We cannot achieve victory through strength of arms.
Aragorn: Not for ourselves. But we can give Frodo his chance if we keep Sauron's Eye fixed upon us. Keep him blind to all else that moves.
Legolas: A diversion.
Gimli: Certainty of death... ...small chance of success... ...what are we waiting for?
Gandalf: Sauron will suspect a trap. He will not take the bait.
Aragorn: Oh, I think he will. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
This movie is aging exceptionally well.
It hasn't aged a day.
Just a veeery very few scenes haven't aged extremely well but they remain acceptable (for example the "crane" shot of the rohirrim army just before charging in the pelennor). But they are exceptions. By far most of the movie and its effects have aged extremely well. And some haven't aged a day. In fact sometimes is like some effects are even better than the latest ones in current movies.
@@TowerofAboveandBelow golden
Cmon plenty of scenes in the lotr that looks crap and some even did look bad back then. Just see how gollum looks today, the movement 0 interaction from the enviroment. The strange bloom effects in riverdell and so on.
@JediNxf7 blasphemy. There is nothing but the extended editions
I love how Gimli is casually sitting on Denethor's throne xdddd
whats Denethor gona do? Gimli is a dwarf.
@@Zesmas also, Denethor burned to crisp

Heikki Koskela Yeah, Gandalf and Pippin must have told the rest of the Fellowship here what a shithead of a “Steward” he was. No loss.

@Jacob - Negative, I am a meat popsicle.
LMAO, yeah. I always found that line to be as useless as it gets.
Hard to believe most of this footage is nearly 2 decades old now..
And still looked much better than the Hobbit.
Yeah and that's a bad thing - it means quality has gone down like fuck. Tech is there, but ambition is not.
“...a diversion....”
F4c2a the hobbit trilogy was a utter rush job, the director before Jackson took over left to make Pacific rim so Jackson had to step in to prevent warner bros from ruining everything

It doesn't get said enough, but Eomer's armor is pretty rad.
I have a mod in Skyrim, *it is rad*
Rohirim had good taste in armor reminds me of old anglo saxons armor
Yes.
@@kingdomkey-c6886 I do believe Tolkien based the culture of Rohan on the Anglo-Saxons, and the similarity between their armour in the movies is apparent. Tolkien also made the Rohirrim speak Old English to further cement those ties.
Everything about Eomer was awesome. I became an instant fan of Karl Urban and he's kept delivering.
Gimli: elf-friend, lord of the Glittering Caves, one of the Nine (Fellowship), holder of the strands of Galadriel hair bearing the light of the Trees (eat your heart out Feanor), and apparently, stewart of Gondor.
lol!!! I never took notice of this until watching this video today.
Steward of Gondor , not Stewart haha
Oh and he is gone with legolas to the West
Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth should have been in that seat.

0:34 GIMLI: Oh.
What really bothers me about this and many other scenes is how it's all "Frodo this, Frodo that, oh poor Frodo" when Sam is there as well.
+Lone Wolf Sam's just a servant... even if he's more badass than Frodo himself. It's a cruel world.
+Captain Goomba And Tolkien was a dick cuz he did so about Sam
frodo is the one with the ring you know
Well Frodo was the one who’s neck bled while carrying the Ring, the one who could not recall the taste of food and the touch of grass, the one who got stung by a spawn of Ungoliant, the one who lost a finger and also the one who got stabbed by a Morgul Blade.
@@hendrivanderwalt8259 hk-47 is prob the greatest droid in the history of science fiction lol If only they would bring the Old school kotor back
I love how when Aragorn talks about creating a diversion and marching upon the Black Gate, Gimli's unspoken reaction was like "WHAT!?!?"😂😂😂😂
I know, right? Fucking hilarious 😂
Its very interesting that in this scene Gandalf seems so negative and defeated. Normally, he's the character who is encouraging others to be brave and to believe in themselves. It was a perfect opportunity for Aragorn to step up into that leader role.
"we cannot achieve victory through strength of arms." I love how Eomer tried so hard to be diplomatic about Aragorn suggesting they embark upon a suicide mission lol. If he wasn't the king I'm sure he would've had much stronger words.
"No offense your majesty, but that's the stupidest fucking idea I've ever heard."
Just like Éomer, Aragorn was not yet crowned king at that point of time. So it's pretty much equals talking with each other.
@@mg-us7ug their battle strategy was even fucking stupider, they let themselves get surrounded instead of backing up and fighting them from the front.

He was allergic to the makeup, so he was basically sick for multiple years until the movies were finished.

I like the origional version of this scene. Gimli says his line and right after "What are we waiting for" it jumps to Gondor horns and all the soldiers marching out of Minas Tirith. It's both hilarious and heroic. In this version it just doesn't flow as well.
Too be honest, Gimli's line was just unfitting to the whole scene. Yeah it makes it funnier but he's practically breaking the 4th wall acknowledging the good guys always win.
I know all hardcore LOTR fans are supposed to like the extended versions more but I honestly don't, I love the theatrical ones more and I am a HUGE fan. I think the extended versions are filled with scenes that Jackson took out for a reason. The only extended scene from ROTK that I think should have been left in the actual film was with Sauromon. But even though that is my favorite extended scene in the whole trilogy I still have problems with it.
+Michael Colby Are you talking about the scene where Wormtongue literally stabs Sauraman in the back?
myanimeaddict Yes
in cinema i thought the scouring of the Shire happened but not shown, after watching the extended version... well it never happened cause Sauruman got killed too early...
Gimli just sits his ass on the Steward's throne like its nbd. Would have loved to have seen Denethor's face

Translation: This has been everyday since Rivendell.
Pretty much 😆
This proves that a comedic relief character can still be brave and awesome, unlike those in recent movies, they are basically fools.
Dwarves are always so funny!
I always tell that to myself when I am going to start an argument with my wife.
“Certainty of death, small chance of success. What are we waiting for?”
Nice 😆
Made me cry when Gandalf comes out with " its only a matter of time" like he has lost all hope.
1:30 I saw this in theatres and when he said that everyone was cheering and laughing. Was awesome 10/10 do again.
This whole time and I never heard Aragorn say 'Oh I think he will.' That completely changed the scene for me, I thought the scene ended with Gandalf saying that Sauron will suspect a trap and that was weird but now I understand this scene makes wayyy more sense now.
Declan Brown Wonder if this is a directors cut? I don’t recall Aragorn saying that at the end either.
Yeah just noticed that when Aragorn says “oh I think he will” in that moment he already decided he would charge the Orcs at the black gate of Mordor by myself and and has trust in men to follow him
Again, I’m not sure Aragorn‘s comment at the end got into the theatrical version… So I’m wondering if this is the directors cut.
