I think a lot of people have different ideas of when a band is “metal”, but I think we can all agree Nickelback isn’t it
Tommy Lee Jones amen
They aren’t really even rock and roll. They’re pretty decent pop artists
@@YoungDeathWish They identify as a rock band. Remember, there's different forms of rock. I'd say that they're probably more of a soft rock band or just alternative.
amen
True. However, back in the day, they had some more "metal" songs than Muse, like "This Means War". I mean, I prefer Muse over Nickelback every time, but just saying.
Top 14 most hated metal bands...
Let's start at 21.
100% clickbait
Lmao 😂😂
Jaron Bryant Music its just the fact that first of this list were not hated at all, and in a row=)
This comment is criminally underrated
@@zayburnell but you are getting more content from the video, if it was 14 it obviously be shorter. I wouldn't call it clickbait, but in a verbose manner subverting expectations in a positive manner (Im tired so thats why I wrote this)
Slipknot...
Screamo...
Are you kidding me?
It's not even close to screamo!
I went to a slipknot concert. Pretty cool. Btw i was 12
I dont wanna live on this planet anymore.
Isnt screamo an elf in disenchantment on netflix
Screamo is that edgy cringe variant of emo (which is already very weird)
My doctor told me to stop headbanging so hard, but man every time Photograph by Nickelback comes on I just can’t help it. They’re just too metal
Same, but with Rockstar.
Dude, "Far Away" is the most metal song in the world. When i headbanged to it i nearly broke my neck and doctors said to me that now i can't headbang((( sad
Basically anyone who hate Nickelback only know that one song. And that settles how real is that "hate" towards them.
Number 1: Nickelback
In other news: Water can be frozen and water can evaporate
Every 60 seconds in Africa, a minute passes
Ok Boomer
David Nwokoye ok boomer
Just Some Guy without a Mustache I swear if you are on one more video I’m on
Let me know when Nickelback in classified as a metal band
Metal fans: why this band is not famous😭 they’re soo great
Also metal fans: EUUWWW mainstream metal🤮🤮🤮
@@BR-gp4gs Queen is pretty damn mainstream ngl, nothing wrong with that tho
@@stg6004 Sounds like the gatekeeper mentality is strong with you. I'm curious though so I'll bite; what is your metric for non-trash metal music? Do prefer a specific sub-genre, does it have to include the speediest shred guitar in existence, does it have to contain/exclude certain lyrical content, does the screaming have to be at a certain timber? Also, why is certain metal "trash" just because you don't like it, and how did you get licensed as the authority on "good" music? Thanks!
Cole Ford nah there’s music from most sub genres of metal I enjoy. What I don’t enjoy just so happens to be 100% of current mainstream metal and pretty much any band that came out after the 90s. I didn’t get license on what good music is I simply voiced my feeling on mainstream metal. Not sure why you’re crying because one persons opinion doesn’t coincide with yours, and don’t bother dropping the ‘if you have nothing nice to say’ routine on me because I certainly don’t follow that school of thought.
B R queen is mainstream my dude
@@stg6004 It's not "if you have nothing nice to say", it's "if you have nothing to say", do you know how often people encounter gatekeeping elitists like you? Yeah, you're pretty annoying to most people.
Slipknot is what got me into metal. I love their music.
Me too ! I was like "Oh what is it ? That's awesome I need some more"
Surprised me as well! Their music has always been there for me throughout my life

3 years oater and now im a proghead xd
I dobt hate them but i dont like them. 🤷♂️
Panic attack is where it’s at, that’s about it for me though
Literally thought it could only be due to Portnoy leaving. That is the only legitimate criticism I've heard of the band. Many, maybe most, fans just don't enjoy post Portnoy DT as much.
In what world is Nickelback a METAL band.
I like that profile picture 👍
In the same world where Warrant was a metal band in 1993.
comparing nickleback to rack bands like breaking benjamin, 3DG, 1000ft krutch, and all that nickleback isn’t even rock at that point
@@blackened8250 Thank you.

Linkin Park and Metallica were the reasons why I got into metal
Metallica, Disturbed, Dream Theater, and Tool were the bands that got me hooked.
Linkin Park got me into _music_ from the Transformers movies. Still into rock and metal over 13 years later.
BUT LINKIN PARK IS NOT METAL,ARE YOU PPL DUMB?
Dude same except the for me it wasnt Metallica, but Slipknot. My dad showed me these bands when i was 6 and 12 years later at 18 years old im still loving metal.
@@Phobicsleaguechannel333 oh yeah they take influence from what they think is metal and fused it with rap. I would say some of their music is metal but not the band genre as whole
"I wasn't aware muse was metal" I wasn't aware muse was hated tbh i dont know a single person who doesnt love muse in one way or another
prob because some radiohead fans hate muse because their first album sounds similar to radiohead
I always hear people say “people hate Muse” but I’ve never actually met someone who hates Muse.
I don't hate them but I certainly don't love them either. Always been somewhat meh to me. They're alright, not "awful" but a bit overrated in my opinion. That's always been my thought on them.
But yeah not in the slightest bit metal. I don't know who ever thought to call them metal but that's just silly
I don’t know a single person who cares enough about muse to hate on them lol
@@JMetalGuitarist that's a good way to put it 😂

nintendo metal lol, people need to check out horse the band... THATS nintendo metal :D
How can you hate dragonforce, I was at their show in London a couple days ago and it was incredible
What's wrong with Fade to Black?
WHAT IS WRONG WITH FADE TO BLACK?!?!
Walrus Blues people hated the song because of the ballad begin
Walrus Blues I have no idea why, it’s a great song. Any band is going to eventually have some sort of ballad. And Metallica created a fantastic one with an incredible solo, chorus riff, and lyrics
people were expecting something to similar to Kill'em all
Those people are stupid. Fade to Black is an outstanding song.
Mate fade to Black and Metallica in general are fking unreal
Kinda surprised Disturbed isn’t on here considering they kinda become a meme lol crazy talented band
I love Disturbed.
Oh AH AH AH AH
I’ve never understood the hate for disturbed. They are all incredibly talented musicians and they have great songs, catchy hooks, and super tight syncopated rythmns that are very easy to get into. Its funny to me that people consider disturbed to be one of the reasons metal started falling out of the mainstream and they consider them an insult to the metal world 😂😂 they are a bit overrated, I feel as though their diehard fans want to make you believe they are the greatest thing since sliced bread, there’s so much more out there! I wish people would understand that 😂😂
I love Avenged Sevenfold. City of evil and The Stage is just fking masterpiece.
I also love the self titled album. I know all the lyrics!
Hail to the king got me into then
I really don't get the hate they just hate them because they are mainstream and I don't get the whole Metallica copy thing either like they have taken some inspiration but if they were blatantly copying Metallica I wouldn't like them (since I am not the biggest metallica fan no hate for all you that like Metallica though I can still appreciate them musically)
@@Cheetomelito In my case I saw them live at a festival without ever having heard even the name waiting for another band. And I absolutely hated every single second that I had to hear so yeah, I'm a little hater I guess but in my case it is based only on listening experience.

Nickel Sack ewwwww!
*pukes nickelback out*
Metallica bringing metal to the mainstream world and making metal a bigger genre and they hated..
Niro Olsson yeah. Everyone knows the name. But they’re absolute trash.
Metallica has changed through out the years as a band more than any other. So the hatered is normal.
It's just cringy trve kvlt metal heads hating on actual successful bands cause 1- they think being famous and successful is bad
2- they pretend to do 1 to cope with the fact their favorite underground bands will never get recognition so they're like "we don't need it anyways 😔😔😔"
Success = Hate /jealousy
@Morbid Angel is better than Death what controversial username

The stage is amazing too
You're goddamn right
City of Evil too

Intimidator 306 exactly😂😂 muse is my fav band but they aren't metal in any way
Aren't they more progressive/alternate rock? Feel like putting them in that category for some reason 🤔
IshidaNikurasu definitely!
Muse = Rock version of Maroon 5
I love Muse too, but definitely wouldn't consider them metal. One of the guys at Andertons described them as "Prog Space Rock" which I think comes pretty close. 😁
If Slayer is on this list there is something wrong with society.
Yeah... i really don’t get people who say, that they are bad or boring. Slayer is my favorite band, and i’m always sad that they retired, rip Jeff Hanneman

Let's be real. Lyrics are secondary for metal fans. Hell, lyrics even mean nothing for some.
@@PorscheJon Highly depends on the kind of metal fan. To some of us, the poetry is a large part of the music. If you can write lyrics that flow well, have thought out allegories and carry an important message, it could drastically increase my enjoyment of the song. It won't save a bad one, but adds a lot of flavour to an already good one for sure.

Eeeh
Some people hate them because of the fact they switched from Metalcore Genre to Progressive Metal and then became a typical Heavy Metal band.
Some people hate them without even listening to them.
Some people hate Synyster Gates(idk why) and don't consider him as a great guitarist even though he is one of the best metal guitarist rt now and has some epic solos in his books.
Me personally love them and is one of my fav bands ever and I do believe their self titled album was one of the best metal albums and they deserve a massive respect for all the music that they have made.
Ajay Sharma I 100% agree dude I think self titled was a masterclass in heavy music and I think The Stage was a masterclass in progressive rock/metal. Those two albums are incredible. City of Evil might be their most important album.
The only thing I don't like about a7x, is that once you heard/learnt one solo, you know them all. They aren't that memorable, they're great but... meh, overdone, at least in my opinion.

I thought their first album was a pretty good hardcore album. I don't like anything else they have done.
I don’t know why people can’t just let people like what they like.

@@kotanovakota bah, kill is just too simple. They should be tortured to death by making them listen to Cardi B for 32 hours. Their veins would burst, and their eyes would bleed.
@Morbid Angel is better than Death I'll never understand the mental gymnastics it would take you to end up at that conclusion, especially since you so arrogantly state it as a fact. There have been boring moments in DT's discography, but in my opinion they can put out heavy and beautiful stuff and the more technical parts are mostly earned. Plus, the fast and complex stuff takes up a fairly small percentage of the music they put out, so I don't get how you feel all their music is just that.

I admire that talent and they'll never get trapped in one specific subgenre or be limited by a certain "sound." That being said, their last album was not my personal jam. I'm a Sempiternal era fan.
Also a BVB fan because I appreciate a classical violinist who thinks outside of the box. Violin is my favorite instrument to play and I love that Jinx finds creative ways to incorporate it into their music. Rock violin isn't something we get to hear often, so I support it where I can find it.

I like Ticklebank..... I know like 2 songs of them. But if for real l got no hate with them and i like those 2 songs that i know, maybe only cause i grew up hearing them on radio.
I can listen to Dream Theater and absolutely respect the technicality. As a bass player the bass is otherworldly. I can enjoy them for those reasons but honestly the vocals usage of top notch music theory usage like rhythm changes and scales, etc. it's all a little to over my head. Still mad respect tho.
Metallica is great. Period.
.
Their first 4 albums were great. After that, No

Dream theater: smash or pass? Idk maybe we can just make out a little
Lmao
My second favorite band behind Rush! And I always stick up for James! He is one of my biggest influence in vocals along with many others.
Dream Theater would be a complex relationship. Just as you start getting into it, there will be a random change sending you into WTF territory.
Smash in 17/16
@@atranfanatic thank god. Same man, must be a link between the two.
Idk but I just really hate how all metalheads hate on other bands, their members and the people who listen to them. Everyone can listen to WHATEVER they want to and honestly why should we care? we don't have to listen to them anyway. So please stop it's just not worth it. And think of it like this: you're wasting your time hating on other bands you don't like. (do they deserve your opinion?) anywayzzz 😊
It’s because it’s human nature
“That person likes something I don’t, that makes them the worse. I have to tell them how wrong and terrible their opinion is.”
But nickel back.....
@@KingKhaoz let's umm let's not start. We accept everyone here ✋😅
@@icantdecide9178 haha 😂
Not even just metalheads, it’s people in general. Everyone is overly-judgy assholes
At first I couldn't get through DT due to the same exact reasons that are mentioned in the article. But as I kept listening to them through my brother (he was listening to them next room and also was butchering some of the bass parts) I absolutely fell in love with Portnoys drums, JPs guitar play and incredible yet underrated Myung support on bass and now I'm a diehard fan. And even though I still don't love Rudess' role (sometimes he is on point, but I feel like he lets go a bit too often), I managed to find my way through just kinda ignoring him, when he pops off to hard (moreover, I really like Moore on piano, so older records are awesome). And I actually really enjoy LaBrie now, but in certain moment. His tone just doesn't always fit the song. Btw sorry for poor english
people who hate dream theater or slipknot think putting milk before cereal makes them badass
*Jared* : I wasn't aware that Muse was metal
*2019 "metalheads"* : yee bro
*Nickelback* :
Same. I was like; dude, that is rock.
Which is totally fine. I like rock. But it just isn't metal.
Yeah I haven't heard many of their songs just heard them live one time (never even knew who they were till that concert) and I wasn't really a fan there were a couple that I thought were decent but for the most part I was pretty bored, they definitely sounded more Rock than Metal.
I would put then more in the rock catagory butThey have some pretty metal sounding songs. not like the heaviest stuff but id put some of their catalog under the umbrella of metal. Idk like knight of cydonia, reapers, stockholm syndrome, ect. if this list can include KISS as metal then i think Muse gets a pass lol
@@cameronknight1654 yeah I know lol good point
On their older stuff, there were usually a couple songs on each album that could pass as metal, but, that’s about it. I would say they’re mostly rock or alternative rock if you had to label it.
“nickelbacks inside of you” *star wars luke* NOOOOOOOOOOO
Trebor: "yessssss"
Do you mean Anakin?
Man I love Linkin Park and I love Black Veil Brides-
I mean, who wouldn't smash Oli Syk- Bring Me The horizon?
Rule #1: Metalheads will have a problem with everything they like.
In response to the Avenged Sevenfold “Metallica-rip-off” hate they get:
A7X did not ripoff Metallica. People always hate on one song, This Means War, because the main riff and structure of the song sounds similar to Sad But True. This is because Hail to the King (the album This Means War is from) is a tribute album of sorts to all of the hard rock and heavy metal bands that influenced Avenged. They got Metallica’s blessing to produce and release This Means War.
Thank you and have a good day.
You showed them.
I was thinking the same thing for times, yet people still saying that 'ripoff'
That new stuff doesn’t count. Real avenged sevenfold are the albums before that one
its sad, but its true....
Every song is a ripoff, because everything has been done. Every chord has been played, every word has been sang. But what does it matter? Music isn't a battle, right?
where did you get the tee from Jared?
Jared Dines! You are one of my inspirations for music! I was wondering if you review fan videos of them playing songs? I was hoping you could review my music!
I’m sorry who doesn’t like the s&m album
Seriously tho
It's not bad, it's an interesting concept and they pulled it off imo, No Leaf Clover makes up for the so-so moments of the rest of the concert
I love Metallica, they're the band that got me into metal, and I'm sure I'm not alone.
Im here too ;), they're also the band that got me into thinking outside of metal and many genres aswell
You are god damn right. The OLD METALLICA is my favourite band. But new metallica, i dont like so much im sorry :(
Guys, I'm just gonna put my *megadeth* comment right here. I wont take long
@@exsod1468 Open up to it. You want thrash, look for remastered versions of the Death Magnetic album. On Load/Reload, first listen to King Nothing and maybe Devil's Dance. Then do the entire Load album start to finish. St. Anger is going to be a little more complicated, since you need to be in a certain mental state to enjoy its raw anger and power.
So what xD they’re common and easy to find I know musicians who discovered Metallica at 13 years old but they didn’t just stop with them and not go and find more crazy shit
I always thought the avenged sevenfold track “this means war’s” guitar riff reminds me of sad but true. Although it doesn’t bother me. I like both songs.
I came here thinking "I bet Avenged Sevenfold is on here." I was disappointed to see them, but also glad I guessed right.
Jared: tell me a band that you love that everyone hates
Me: *sweats in Nickelback*
Theres two kinds of people in the world, those who like nickelback, and those who are in denial
@@bluejay8676 Haha tawh thank you xD. I mean I totally get why people don't like them, but it never makes me feel like I should dislike them so I thought meh, why not say the band I love that everyone hates pff
I have one that’ll probably get more hate but it’s an entire genre. Glam and hair metal/rock... I love it but I understand the hate it gets.
Nickelback isn’t my cup of tea, I don’t hate them, I’m just not into their music.
I'm sorry but you are wrong, this is not opinion this is fact and I apologise.
Dang, I guess I’m the only Metalhead that loves KISS. They’re the reason I got into music.
KISS IS GREAT
No
Alex Omand no
@@alex.12378 KISS has influenced many of these metal bands
Same story with me! Started with kiss, ended up with slayer
My journey into heavy music went, ZZ Top, Green Day, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Poision The Well and on and on. Now I'm about all different genres of heavy music. From Nu Metal to deathcore to old school hardcore to power metal, everything. I'll always give a bit piece of my musical taste to Limp Bizkit and Slipknot. LB also got me into hip hop when he did collaborations with Method Man. From there I went Wu Tang, Gang Starr, People Under The Stairs etc.
As someone who gave up on most of these Bands when they began to experiment and gave up on FFDP when they experimented it still hurts my soul to hear them passed on. 10 Years ago they where still pretty excellent but now I'm just under and over it.
Bruh Jared Dines and Syn shred wars yes
One band that you surprisingly didn't mention is Disturbed.
Mike Kushins I cant stand disturbed. Mostly because their songs all sound the same and my buddy plays them constantly! Their singer has such a beautiful voice but then does nothing new with it!! Even when he started a new band it was the same crap!
@@SkyFire2112 OOOAH AH AH AH
I was looking for them to. Love them though. Dan Donegan was the biggest reason I started playing guitar.
@@SkyFire2112 You really haven't listened to much disturbed then. Or at least nothing past Sickness
I’m so glad you made this video... Human Clay, Hybrid Theory, Minutes to Midnight, and my $10 MP3 player got me through puberty lol. Still love Creed, Fever (BFMV) was an awesome album that I wore out (and still listen to), and I defend Creed and BFMV to this day. FFDP, Kiss, and Nickleback, not so much.
BMTH singer Ollie has a killer voice. Their new song Teardrops is pretty killer. Also their collab with Yungblud, Obey, is cool as. They are technically/musically a tight band who have been around for ever. Good on em I say!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like KISS.
Dude my uncle showed me it and that was my first rock
Your not alone.
They basically took cheesy rock and put it to a second rate Alice Cooper stage show.
literally the most overated band of all time. the eagles are second but joe walsh is awesome
WHAT MAN. You don’t like kiss?!?!?!??
I always said muse i my favorite non metal band but now it aparrently is one of my favorite metal bands too lol
I mean Stockholm Syndrome, Dead Star, New Born, Micro Cuts and some other songs are kind of metal, they're not really a metal band, though it's really hard to define what genre Muse really is since it basically changes with every album they do
Mathryou muse is its own genre now.
bostion muse being called metal is very very strange to me... heh but idc about labels; muse is amazing and gets me hyped 💙
Muse is pop metal at best. Go get some Slayer. Pantera. LOG and much more. Then we can talk.
James Moncrief who said we don’t listen to them too? I listen to practically every genre of metal besides extreme grindcore shit. Sorry everyone isn’t as un-open to other music like you are.
dude st anger is awesome, there is so much emotion and heart put into it. people only hate it because of the snare or possibly that there’s no solos, nothing else.
People hate it because it became a trend. St. Anger is one of my favourite albums. Not my favourite Metallica album because of the snare but one of my favourite Metal albums because of the snare.
i love bmth sm, they were the band that got me into music and i honestly love their old and new sound, i think it’s cool that they aren’t afraid to break boundaries with music. big fan of amo (their most recent album) and also a huge fan of suicide season (their second album) does anyone else like bmth? :P
