BMTH are singlehandedly responsible for so many metalcore bands realizing they can simplify their sound and still make it sound good even if most of said bands just copy what they've done since Sempiternal, so because of them being trendsetters, they definitely aren't cringe at least not to me, but more power to those who somehow do.

i could see sabaton being cringe in some perspectives but being a history buff, i never saw them as anything less than a group of history teachers who love metal.

For me, Dave Mustaine's personality is something that gives his albums a bit of character. Especially songs like Sweating Bullets or Dawn Patrol, where he just goes all in on the weird, sort of have this endearing quality. Cringe? Absolutely. But some of the more recent albums actually suffer a bit I think from being too straightforward. Weird Dave maybe isn't Best Dave, but he definitely adds a shade of colour to Megadeth's albums that sets them apart.
As a really big Falling in Reverse fan, I can soundly say that I can see where you’re coming from. I’m a die hard fan and love almost every song, but then when I think of some of their songs, specifically Get Me Out off of the Just Like You album, I can see it. That song specifically makes me cringe because it’s written like someone who is still in high school… Except Ronnie was 32 when the album came out. The first time I heard it I had to actually check the song to make sure another artist didn’t come on because… Why would a 32 year old man be writing songs about being in high school? I’d be curious to see where you’d put Five Finger Death Punch in this cringe tier list. They’re my other favorite band (right there with Falling in Reverse and Hollywood Undead) but definitely have released things that… Aren’t my favorite.
I know you didn't necessarily consider cringe as a bad thing but it seems - to me. And I really like Falling In Reverse and Ronnie himself. His reactions are sometimes a bit special and he has got a very dry and dark humour. The songwriting of some FIR songs is edgy, yeah. I still enjoy these songs and I think it's fun.
I mean, didn’t he have sex with a minor..? I think any man who commits an act like that should be lined up against a wall and shot; but that’s just me.
I'm a HUGE Alestorm fan (and it's the only metal my wife enjoys) and I dont really find anything cringy in their first albums through Sunset on a Golden Era, but after that there's certainly some cringe and stuff that I didn't enjoy...namely songs like Tortuga or Fucked with an Anchor. Fun cringe like Pirate Metal Drinking Crew or Treasure Chest Party Quest are great though haha. Great vid and good laughs. 🤘

I absolutely love FIR. I thought putting them in the Pure Cringe section was a bit harsh but I can see your point. I love their song Zombified for the message behind but I can see your point about the dorky lyrics. Do you think all their songs are cringe? I think most of the time Ronnie is actually very clever in his lyrics.
Being a long time fan for a lot of these bands, I'd say Hollywood undead dropped a lot of their cringe. The previous couple of albums have been minimally cringe. I hear a lot of people say they just want to be "tough" and that kind of content was really dropped after the first album and has been mostly used satirically in a couple of songs since. I get that they aren't everyones cup of tea but in my ears they are a breath of fresh air every time they come on in a playlist.
Exactly. I would even say Deuce was the main cringe deliverer in the band. When you look at his solo albums, they are shallow af (even though I like them as hell, I can admit that), whereas HU went a more of artistic way.
I kind of feel bad for Emmure, Frankie's 'antics' and cringey lyrics have pretty much overshadowed everything else. They actually have some great songs IMO. Nothing technical, nothing that groundbreaking really, but heavy as balls and really fun (and sometimes extremely dark). I actually like Frankie's vocals when he's not doing Fred Durst style rapping (which to be fair, is way less prevalent on their songs than most people realise). Any doubters should check out their 2017 album 'Look At Yourself'. It surprised a lot of people. Their debut 'Goodbye To The Gallows' also seems to get a pass from the gatekeepers and is now rightly regarded as a classic
I think the first Falling in Reverse album and the first Escape the Fate album were his best work by far. All his new stuff sounds like everything else.

The guitars are just up and down the scales with no life to them and the main choirs is usually something you would think of the first time you pick up a guitar. I think he's out of ideas and just collecting money off what's popular. Feels very bring me the horizon which is never a good thing.
It's ironic that last month I saw FiR and Hollywood Undead live on their Rockzilla tour. I have to agree with you that some lyrics from FiR are cringe, Hollywood Undead as well. But people shouldn't be attacking you for how you ranked them in a youtube video.

Just a slight suggestion for upcoming vids. I think it would shed some better light if you show also examples of early work of bands (i know you used for a7x, but yk, for all of them), because most of these bands are now going more to commercial side (zombified by fir, bvb that u shown, etc) it would give, in my opinion, much better judgement based on older and newer stuff
I try to when it's relevant, but also obviously I can't be fully aware of the entire scope of every single band either. I do as much research as is reasonably possible.
Anyone who finds a silly not serious party pirate metal band that has massive rubber duck on stage and screams about rum whilst not taking themselves even a shred seriously other when getting everyone hyped the keyboard guitar and accordion. Its so unserious, funny and wacky. If somehow you try to take party pirates slamming beers with a rubber duck screaming about Nancy the tavern wench; somehow makes you cringe, you didn't get invited out to parties. Your just socially unwell.
Getting butthurt over someone else’s critique of you embodies how a teenager acts. If you’ve raised a teenager or have significantly younger siblings, you know this. However, when some of these artists still do the same thing in their 30s and up, that is the epitome of pure narcissism. I enjoy a lot of these bands too, but he was dead on about Ronnie, the dude from Trapt, Pestilence, etc. Hell, if I did a rap cringe list, I’d probably put Eminem at the top bc of fragile ego, even though I love his music.
Into The Glory Ride by Manowar has one of the most cringe album covers in the history of metal...But, it is also one of the best albums in the history of metal.
Since most of these bands were fan-selected, I have a small feeling that some of your fans are elitists, considering that most metal elitists loathe the hell out of gimmicks. I joke, but some of the bands on here I find to be really embarrassing (i.e, Falling In Reverse, Emmure, Burzum). Funny that you mentioned Miss May I, cause when I tried thinking of stuff from their career that might be “cringe,” my mind immediately jumped to “You Want Me.” That song was also off of Rise of the Lion which is considered to be their worst album. Granted, I don’t blame the band 100% for the bad lyrics mainly because they were based off of letters their fans wrote to them. Was a bit surprised to see Parkway Drive on this list. I get that they're not for everyone and some of their earlier stuff can sound pretty samey, but I like quite a bit of their discography. I don't hate the new stuff they've been putting out. Hell, I was one of the few people that loved their last album Reverence, which had a fair number of thought-provoking lyrics on it. They weren't Shakespeare or anything, but still pretty well written. However, the stuff they've been putting out recently hasn't really impressed me much. Glitch was too safe musically and I'll definitely agree that the lyrics are super corny, especially in the first verse of that song. The Greatest Fear was a bit better, but just seemed like more of the same. I'm stoked for their newest album regardless, but I'm hoping that the rest of Darker Still has a bit more variety.

Off topic but you seem open minded about metal music and you read / reply to comments. I'd really recommend listening to this French band called "Eths", they're my favorite band ever since discovering them and their music is almost objectively good I feel like. The earlier vocalist is also really talented, and the band overall has this gift at building up into a climax. If you want tracks that are easier to get into, I'd recommend "Teratologie" or "Inanis Venter". If you want a deeper look at their musical talent, I'd recommend "Proserpina" or "Anima Exhalare" (especially the latter). Im not sure whether or not you have knowledge of the language, but if you want to you can look up the lyrics. They are typically meaningful and convey a story. "Teratologie" talks about a serial killer being haunted by his victims, with the main line of the chorus being "Never forget that the body never forgets". Edit: I forgot to add. The absolute easiest track to get into by them, and their most mainstream "Crucifere". "Bulimiarexia" is a close second.
I strongly disagree with HU. If you use their lyrics from “Bitches” and “Everywhere I Go”, yea, but they have songs like “bullet” and “Black Dahlia” and fun songs like “city of the dead”. Ronnie Radke does have a bad attitude even in my opinion, but his music is amazing.
“It’s Morbin’ Time”…. But in all seriousness, 30STM is pretty much Jared Leto stroking his ego at this point. Same with how BMTH and FiR are today. It’s, kinda, sad because 30StM had potential. Just going back and hearing their self - titled debut makes me question what this band could have been if it weren’t for the hopping on trends and Jared Lego’s ego.
I remember discovering them back in HS when Jared Leto was still more of an indie film darling and nobody even knew he had a band. What different times we live in.

I got the pleasure of seeing sabaton live about a month and a half ago, and the crown jewel of the show was that everybody embraced the cringe. They make it work, so its almost nice to see that they made the cringe this, since they are self aware of it
Love or hate this take, but I think Ghost selling out to more pop heavy songs catered to people outside the genre is smart move and also an absolutely shitty move as well. It’s good cause your name is branching genres, but bad cause everyone on the metal side know you sold out. If I hear Mary on a Cross one more time while driving past a 19 year old blonde-haired college student driving a wrecked or dented Hyundai Elantra I will literally scream.

I'd say the only one that I didn't think was fair was Hollywood Undead. Their new albums kinda put them in cringe but fun because I feel like that takes some of the cringe off their discography but obviously as an outsider you'd be less biased than me.
I never dug into Pestilence outside of their music that is very awesome including their latest album, but I was shocked and then not so shocked to hear that the frontman was being an asswipe to people on social media. Judging off personal experience and observation, I think being a dick is a Dutch thing.
I honestly love pestilence, it's one of my favorite death metal bands, my dad saw them live, took a picture with mameli and their drummer, and it's just disappointing seeing how mameli acts, they're a great band
HU is still quite cringe, but I wish you used Chaos or World War Me to represent their newer sound as opposed to lame ass Pop Punk City Of The Dead....they're definitely heavier instrumentally than they used to be, and you definitely don't give that vibe playing one of, if not the softest track on the album.
Coming from the perspective of a BVB fan, I can completely understand where you’re coming from. Like, they did soften up a bit with their sound, I’ll grant you that, but for me, it still kicks ass. If they really wanted to go full blown commercial, they would’ve either done what Ronnie did, mix rock with a popular genre, or gone the Linkin Park route, go full pop, drop the instruments and just use presets, no offense meant to Linkin Park. Basically, bring in the sound of Andy’s solo career, more poppy and less rock. Now, if you want to talk 2011-2014 BVB, that’s completely understandable and I’m glad that Andy has stopped doing the whole “tough guy” act. But hey, that’s just my opinion, and that’s your opinion.

Older emo (mid-to-late 90s, very early 2000s) wasn't that cringe though, and very different from the 'emo' bands on this list. At some point the genre became a parody of itself

I like Black Veil Brides quite a bit, they were my gateway band, but I kind of agree. They are great at their instruments and are good performers, but they can be cringe sometimes. I kind of expected you to put them higher, so I'm a bit relieved. Your opinion on them is completely understandable, but hopefully you give them another chance if you haven't tried to already. They've gotten better at songwriting at least.

I dont know about Sabaton being cringe, for me its inspiring. Especially when i saw them live in Moscow singing Panzerkampf, Night Witches and Attero Dominatus. People dont squirm their faces, when a band from Sweden sings about your war heroes. Just look when they were on Woodstock Festival, and how polish people went crazy on Uprising song.
Megadave is going on tour with FFDP, that is as cringy as it gets, still like the first 4 or 5 releases but never listen to them anymore. I remember anxiously waiting for Killing and Peace Sells to come out but now its time to call it day, just like Metallica exact same deal for me. But, how is Behemoth,Shining, or Burzum cringy? The rest of the bands are obviously unlistenable.

Falling in Reverse is max cringe. They came to my town with Atreyu and we intentionally missed their set. This was about 5 yrs ago. This guy's just a hater.
30STM definitely deserves their pure cringe placement. After A Beautiful Lie, they dived into the deep end of possibly pop rock and never looked back. Last time I heard one of their songs, it sounded like white girl turn up music. Such a letdown from where they started with their self-titled album and A Beautiful Lie.

I saw an interview with Nergal probably a couple of years ago where he acknowledged the cringe of at least the title of "I Loved You at Your Darkest". I can't remember where I saw it but I also remember he was drinking red wine mixed with coca cola so there are a few questionable things going on with him.
I mainly want to comment on BMTH since I love their music bt I can always respect others opinions and I was fine with what you rated it as long as you didn't put them as pure cringe. I can see lyrically why others can dislike it but I say they got a decent amount of music that has good lyrics but at the end of the day it is all subjective. It is a bit sad to see how people react when someone doesn't like something they do but at the same time it is people just being emotional over something they love but it is cringe when they start attacking you as a person. As for falling in reverse I enjoy some of their music and when I first listened to them I enjoyed a lot of it... then I took a step back to see just how cringe some of it is but I mean with music you should just take what you like and move on. BMTH and fIR are a good place to start. I'm 51 and BMTH are my current fave band. All their styles. Count your blessings,not so much, but appreciate they were all self taught musicians as teens. They've really come along way. Their new album is really good. Oli has improved vocally so much. You should see them live. Best live concert I've ever seen. I do think Ronnie is very cringe, but also funny

I'm a HUGE Alestorm fan (and it's the only metal my wife enjoys) and I dont really find anything cringy in their first albums through Sunset on a Golden Era, but after that there's certainly some cringe and stuff that I didn't enjoy...namely songs like Tortuga or Fucked with an Anchor. Fun cringe like Pirate Metal Drinking Crew or Treasure Chest Party Quest are great though haha.

Being a long time fan for a lot of these bands, I'd say Hollywood undead dropped a lot of their cringe. The previous couple of albums have been minimally cringe. I hear a lot of people say they just want to be "tough" and that kind of content was really dropped after the first album and has been mostly used satirically in a couple of songs since. I get that they aren't everyones cup of tea but in my ears they are a breath of fresh air every time they come on in a playlist.
Exactly. I would even say Deuce was the main cringe deliverer in the band. When you look at his solo albums, they are shallow af (even though I like them as hell, I can admit that), whereas HU went a more of artistic way.
Hotel Kalifornia is one of their best albums ever. Been a fan since 2009 and it’s crazy how good Hotel Kalifornia is.
I kind of feel bad for Emmure, Frankie's 'antics' and cringey lyrics have pretty much overshadowed everything else. They actually have some great songs IMO. Nothing technical, nothing that groundbreaking really, but heavy as balls and really fun (and sometimes extremely dark). I actually like Frankie's vocals when he's not doing Fred Durst style rapping (which to be fair, is way less prevalent on their songs than most people realise).
Any doubters should check out their 2017 album 'Look At Yourself'. It surprised a lot of people. Their debut 'Goodbye To The Gallows' also seems to get a pass from the gatekeepers and is now rightly regarded as a classic
To give ronnie credit you can say you can see the change in his behavior and attitude from when he first started

The guitars are just up and down the scales with no life to them and the main choirs is usually something you would think of the first time you pick up a guitar. Just a slight suggestion for upcoming vids. I think it would shed some better light if you show also examples of early work of bands (i know you used for a7x, but yk, for all of them), because most of these bands are now going more to commercial side (zombified by fir, bvb that u shown, etc) it would give, in my opinion, much better judgement based on older and newer stuff
I try to when it's relevant, but also obviously I can't be fully aware of the entire scope of every single band either. I do as much research as is reasonably possible.

Getting butthurt over someone else’s critique of you embodies how a teenager acts. If you’ve raised a teenager or have significantly younger siblings, you know this. However, when some of these artists still do the same thing in their 30s and up, that is the epitome of pure narcissism. I enjoy a lot of these bands too, but he was dead on about Ronnie, the dude from Trapt, Pestilence, etc. Hell, if I did a rap cringe list, I’d probably put Eminem at the top bc of fragile ego, even though I love his music.
Into The Glory Ride by Manowar has one of the most cringe album covers in the history of metal...But, it is also one of the best albums in the history of metal.

Since most of these bands were fan-selected, I have a small feeling that some of your fans are elitists, considering that most metal elitists loathe the hell out of gimmicks. I joke, but some of the bands on here I find to be really embarrassing (i.e, Falling In Reverse, Emmure, Burzum).
Funny that you mentioned Miss May I, cause when I tried thinking of stuff from their career that might be “cringe,” my mind immediately jumped to “You Want Me.” That song was also off of Rise of the Lion which is considered to be their worst album. Granted, I don’t blame the band 100% for the bad lyrics mainly because they were based off of letters their fans wrote to them.
Was a bit surprised to see Parkway Drive on this list. I get that they're not for everyone and some of their earlier stuff can sound pretty samey, but I like quite a bit of their discography. I don't hate the new stuff they've been putting out. Hell, I was one of the few people that loved their last album Reverence, which had a fair number of thought-provoking lyrics on it. They weren't Shakespeare or anything, but still pretty well written.
However, the stuff they've been putting out recently hasn't really impressed me much. Glitch was too safe musically and I'll definitely agree that the lyrics are super corny, especially in the first verse of that song. The Greatest Fear was a bit better, but just seemed like more of the same. I'm stoked for their newest album regardless, but I'm hoping that the rest of Darker Still has a bit more variety.

Off topic but you seem open minded about metal music and you read / reply to comments. I'd really recommend listening to this French band called "Eths", they're my favorite band ever since discovering them and their music is almost objectively good I feel like. The earlier vocalist is also really talented, and the band overall has this gift at building up into a climax.
If you want tracks that are easier to get into, I'd recommend "Teratologie" or "Inanis Venter". If you want a deeper look at their musical talent, I'd recommend "Proserpina" or "Anima Exhalare" (especially the latter).
Im not sure whether or not you have knowledge of the language, but if you want to you can look up the lyrics. They are typically meaningful and convey a story. "Teratologie" talks about a serial killer being haunted by his victims, with the main line of the chorus being "Never forget that the body never forgets".
Edit: I forgot to add. The absolute easiest track to get into by them, and their most mainstream "Crucifere". "Bulimiarexia" is a close second.

But in all seriousness, 30STM is pretty much Jared Leto stroking his ego at this point. Same with how BMTH and FiR are today. It’s, kinda, sad because 30StM had potential. Just going back and hearing their self - titled debut makes me question what this band could have been if it weren’t for the hopping on trends and Jared Lego’s ego.
I remember discovering them back in HS when Jared Leto was still more of an indie film darling and nobody even knew he had a band. What different times we live in.

I'd say the only one that I didn't think was fair was Hollywood Undead. Their new albums kinda put them in cringe but fun because I feel like that takes some of the cringe off their discography but obviously as an outsider you'd be less biased than me.
I never dug into Pestilence outside of their music that is very awesome including their latest album, but I was shocked and then not so shocked to hear that the frontman was being an asswipe to people on social media. Judging off personal experience and observation, I think being a dick is a Dutch thing.
I honestly love pestilence, it's one of my favorite death metal bands, my dad saw them live, took a picture with mameli and their drummer, and it's just disappointing seeing how mameli acts, they're a great band

HU is still quite cringe, but I wish you used Chaos or World War Me to represent their newer sound as opposed to lame ass Pop Punk City Of The Dead....they're definitely heavier instrumentally than they used to be, and you definitely don't give that vibe playing one of, if not the softest track on the album.
Coming from the perspective of a BVB fan, I can completely understand where you’re coming from. Like, they did soften up a bit with their sound, I’ll grant you that, but for me, it still kicks ass. If they really wanted to go full blown commercial, they would’ve either done what Ronnie did, mix rock with a popular genre, or gone the Linkin Park route, go full pop, drop the instruments and just use presets, no offense meant to Linkin Park. Basically, bring in the sound of Andy’s solo career, more poppy and less rock. Now, if you want to talk 2011-2014 BVB, that’s completely understandable and I’m glad that Andy has stopped doing the whole “tough guy” act. But hey, that’s just my opinion, and that’s your opinion.

I like Black Veil Brides quite a bit, they were my gateway band, but I kind of agree. They are great at their instruments and are good performers, but they can be cringe sometimes. I kind of expected you to put them higher, so I'm a bit relieved. Your opinion on them is completely understandable, but hopefully you give them another chance if you haven't tried to already. They've gotten better at songwriting at least.

I dont know about Sabaton being cringe, for me its inspiring. Especially when i saw them live in Moscow singing Panzerkampf, Night Witches and Attero Dominatus. People dont squirm their faces, when a band from Sweden sings about your war heroes. Just look when they were on Woodstock Festival, and how polish people went crazy on Uprising song.
Megadave is going on tour with FFDP, that is as cringy as it gets, still like the first 4 or 5 releases but never listen to them anymore. I remember anxiously waiting for Killing and Peace Sells to come out but now its time to call it day, just like Metallica exact same deal for me. But, how is Behemoth,Shining, or Burzum cringy? The rest of the bands are obviously unlistenable.

30STM definitely deserves their pure cringe placement. After A Beautiful Lie, they dived into the deep end of possibly pop rock and never looked back. Last time I heard one of their songs, it sounded like white girl turn up music. Such a letdown from where they started with their self-titled album and A Beautiful Lie.

I mainly want to comment on BMTH since I love their music bt I can always respect others opinions and I was fine with what you rated it as long as you didn't put them as pure cringe. I can see lyrically why others can dislike it but I say they got a decent amount of music that has good lyrics but at the end of the day it is all subjective. It is a bit sad to see how people react when someone doesn't like something they do but at the same time it is people just being emotional over something they love but it is cringe when they start attacking you as a person. As for falling in reverse I enjoy some of their music and when I first listened to them I enjoyed a lot of it... then I took a step back to see just how cringe some of it is but I mean with music you should just take what you like and move on. Anyways what do I know, I am pretty young and have only listened to BMTH and FIR off the list, some of these I know the name of the band but not any songs, either way I hope you have a good day, to any that read this.

BMTH and fIR are a good place to start. I'm 51 and BMTH are my current fave band. All their styles. Count your blessings,not so much, but appreciate they were all self taught musicians as teens. They've really come along way. Their new album is really good. Oli has improved vocally so much. You should see them live. Best live concert I've ever seen. I do think Ronnie is very cringe, but also funny
