You can explain the mechanism behind certain phenomena attributed to deities, but you can't prove or disprove if a deity was responsible for it happening. I read a fascinating comment by a psychologist who has a policy of refusing to treat any patient that claims the earth is flat: he has found that they usually have underlying mental health issues and symptoms that need psychiatric care and perhaps medication. He therefore refers those prospective patients to a higher level medical professional. While this is not a causation situation, there is correlation between the firmly held belief in a flat earth belief and symptoms of larger problems.

Here are five undeniable scientific facts that make flat earth theory an impossible model.
    1. Size of the sun observed in the sky: When observed the sun takes up the same “degrees of space” in the observable sky. This is only possible for a very large object being very far away. In all flat earth theories the sun is a small object moving relatively close to earth shining a spotlight of “day time” upon the surface of the earth. The relatively observed ”degrees of space” taken up by the sun should start as very small at sun rise, be observed to be 3x-5x times larger in the sky at Noon (based on theorized size of the sun and distance from the earth’s surface proposed in the various versions of flat earth models). The sun would then get smaller and smaller in the sky as it approaches sunset.
    2. The pattern of the tides. The double low and high tide patterns as seen on earth are only possible if the moon is rotating around a spherical earth. No math models in any flat earth theory can explain the observed tide cycle.
    3. Sky Rotation changing. From time lapse studies, we know from the observable sky at night what appears to be a sky rotating counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere and clockwise in the southern hemisphere. This is only possible on a rotating globe. In fact in flat earth models, the sun and northern star (Polaris) should ALWAYS be visible at night.
    4. Shadow angles at Noon. Put two tall sticks in the ground 100 yards apart. Watch what happens at Noon. In a flat earth model there should be a time when the shadows cast by the sticks are pointing in opposite directions as the small relatively close sun passes over head. This doesn’t occur the shadows are cast at always the same angle of projection. This is only possible with a globe rotating to reveal a very large very far away sun.
    5. Sundials move “clockwise” north of the equator. Sundials move “counter clockwise” south of the equator. This cannot happen on a flat earth with a small sun flying through the sky.

Almost a decade ago, I discovered online that there were people who believed the Earth was flat. I began arguing with them. I tried to understand what made them believe what they believe and thought of ways to debunk their beliefs in indisputable ways. Here are some examples:
-Flat earthers said that Antarctica surrounded the Earth, was comprised of 75-150 foot tall ice walls that could not be traversed, and if you somehow did manage to traverse the wall machine-gun-carrying NASA guards would turn you away. I really thought to even think this was truly hilarious. Do these people even realize that you can just book a trip to Antarctica and go there yourself to see that none of this is true? I mean... let's go! Let's go in person and see that none of this is true in reality. See for yourself that there are no continuous tall ice walls and no NASA guards. I'm guessing that flat earthers don't have much money because none took me up on the offer
-They were so convinced that the whole global concept was a means of controlling the populous. They somehow merged the globalist "New World Order", which is really about people capitalizing on a unified world government, whereby the word global doesn't refer to the shape of the planet, but the encapsulation of all governments of the world. They don't seem to understand this distinction. Further, they then use MK-Ultra and merge that into their unhinged beliefs for some reason. Then, they claim this is all because of the Rothschilds and Rockerfellers, etc. Then, I asked them a couple of questions:
    1) How is it that these people or governments are going to somehow control me more or less just because of the shape of the planet? I mean, if the Earth is round or flat, from a government perspective... my life doesn't change in either case. From a controlling me perspective, nothing changes. My life from a governing perspective isn't affected by the shape of the planet. They of course had no answer for this and merely resorted to ad hominem attacks about how clueless I was and how they felt sorry for me.... even though they are the ones who couldn't answer the simplest of questions
    2) Why? Why would anybody require the Earth being round in my mind, or the populous in general? What is the end game? What's it all about? The answer? Seriously... the answer was: so the government could get your money. THAT'S IT! That is all they had! So, I informed them that the government ALREADY has our money they collect in the form of taxes and that they already give many billions a year to NASA, out of a $4 trillion sum in federal revenue a year, and they don't need my understanding or permission to give NASA money because they already have my money and can spend it however Congress decides to do so in their budget. Me believing the world is some shape has literally no effect on anything with regard to them taking my money and giving it to NASA. Again, they had no response to this. So, they cannot even come up with a plausible reason that they can effectively explain in any legitimate fashion that even begins to provide a motive for their make-believe claims.
Add-on: No lie, this one Australian guy was really smug about his flat earth positions and attempted to execute a live experiment on the spot on video that "proved" for sure just how the Earth simply cannot be a globe. The experiment? He had a deflated soccer ball and he used his garden hose to spray water on it to show that the water fell off and didn't stick to the ball! HAHAHAHAHA! Seriously! That was it!!! He is completely scientifically brainless! He didn't even consider for a second that the gravity of the Earth, due to its much larger mass than the ball, would overpower any sort of gravitational effects a tiny little ball could even hope to produce. This guy is all flat earthers. Just stupid and wrong.

I’ve asked people for 3 scientific proof of earth’s movement and no one can provide it. It’s a historical fact that every attempt made by Globe Earth proponents to prove movement has failed!!
That’s why they started creating theories. When you can’t prove something In Reality, you create a theory! You don’t need a theory to tell you the sun is in the sky, you see it everyday. You only need theories for things you can’t see or experience in reality!
The globe earth is a fantasy supported by theories upon theories that has no basis in reality!!

I have entertained many flat Earth theorists. I’ve considered the possibility of them being correct and was absolutely fascinated with how little knowledge was actually applied. It’s very creative and highly imaginative. I just continued to prove to myself that the Earth is indeed spherical. The math works forward and backwards. It’s easy to consider when we know the actual science can only conclude to a spherical planet. It amazes me they don’t seem to want to grasp Eratosthenes evidence. For them to be correct would require a conspiracy of unimaginable proportions, as well as a mechanical sun along with a mobile sky. Sextons usage and celestial navigation are obviously lost with these people. What about the fact our shadow is round when broadcast onto the moon, if our planet is sideways wouldn’t we fall off? Why is there no video evidence of the edge of the world? Why can’t we see Hawaii from California with a high powered telescope? So many things don’t line up for their theory to be correct. Occam’s razor says the Earth is spherical after all is said and done.

It always puzzled me why people believe the flat-earth theory. For one thing, some aspects of physics would not add up, like gravity. If you were on a rotating disc you would be thrown off like an object would if it was on a record spinning on a record player (same concept). Also, we wouldn't have night/day (ligh and dark) but rather the sun would hover around in a circle (same for the moon) above us. Then of course somes the idea of seasons... we would have one (perhaps two) seasons, but they would be the same all year round like having spring or summer all year round. Then there is my favorite argument against flat-earthers... if you stand at a point on a flat piece of land, why can you NOT see for miles? Even if you stood on a high-point, you wouldn't be able to see more than perhaps 10 miles or maybe 20, but not for any great distances over a long distance due to the curvature of the earth.

This video really didn’t touch on “why” people believe this. I’d like to forward my theory. Having engaged with many flat-earthers I have found some commonalities in all of those with whom I have spoken. All of them share a misunderstanding of core concepts of science. I don’t believe that is the key as many people share that and have the capacity to realize that principles that have been proven are true whether you personally master them or not. The other aspect that they all seem to share is that they are people with a self-image that is honestly above them while living a life that they see as beneath them. My theory is that as long as one clings to an idea that they are a member of a select few that “can see the truth” and are “too smart and open-minded to be brainwashed” it gives them an escape from the idea that perhaps they are not living up to their full potential. That perhaps their life is much smaller than it could be.

I've found that most flat earthers I have spoken with stems from a deep distrust of the government. Majority of them believed in the globe, but it was something the government did that led them to begin expecting the opposite to be true.
For example: your video exposing Japan's refusal to acknowledge their actions in WW2, when a japanese person finds out the truth, they become disillusioned. This can lead them to questioning everything they had ever been taught by government.
Flat earther's, from my experience, have become disillusioned by government lies (example: WMD's etc.), and at some point, they fight everything the government tells them. Honestly, once I figured out it was a reaction, or a symptom if you will, it gave me a lot more patience.
