From that same generation,Dean Martin has the same kind of smooth mesmerizing voice that amazes you without having to do any vocal gymnastics. They were both class acts and they were very close friends
Saw him in concert at Madison Square Garden, it was called the Main Event. He was introduced by Howard Cosell....he climbed through the ropes just like a boxer for a heavy weight fight. He ended the concert with “My Way”...there were a lot of big stars there that night but when he hit that last note everyone was on their feet screaming....the little folks like me...and the big stars like Robert Redford...the DVD of the concert is around....do yourself a favor...watch it!!!
Frank's song New York has been sampled many times by many artists. You'll definitely recognize it. You almost can't go wrong with Frank's entire catalog. Although personal favorites are Just The Way You Look Tonight, Fly Me To The Moon and The Girl From Ipanema.
When I hear that I can only think of the Simpsons parody where Homer sang, “When I was 17, I had my very first beer, a very good beer, that I bought with a fake ID.”
While Frank is really super good, Dean Martin has my heart as the best crooner. I watched all the movies and heard all the songs of both. Amazing talent you cannot find these days.
When singer Paul Anka was on vaccation or maybe some gig at the French Riviera he heard a guy playing this song in a hotel lobby. He immediately fell in love with the song and asked the guy right away if he could by it! According to himself he bought it with Sinatra in mind since he was fed up with the business and was thinking of quitting. This song became Sinatra's like anthem a song he finished every concert with. Paul Anka said in an interview that he knew this song would pay for his children's college!!
Although this became his signature song, his daughters say that he always felt that it made him sound too egotistical, and that he wasn't comfortable with it.
Full body rushes !! I could see how much you liked Mr. Sinatra. It is so great for you and I remembered how much I loved him Thank you for both!! Keep it up!!
Frank was also a natural as an actor. His very first roll in “From Here to Eternity” won him an Oscar and a Golden Globe Award for best supporting actor. There are so many great songs he did it’s hard to list them.
This was recorded toward the end of his career and his wonderful clear voice was getting a bit ragged, but it sure suited the lyrics. For me his '50s stuff is the best especially his Wee Small Hours album. His second best period is his Big Band years.
That movie has an unintentionally funny scene for speakers of Portuguese. Frank's character gets happy because it's payday and he has money to spend. So he goes: "Payday! Payday!" That sounds almost identical to "peidei" in Portuguese, which means "I have farted." Now you can imagine the audiences bursting into laughter with a man happily shouting "I have farted! I have farted!" 🤣🤣🤣
He was 1 of those rare few in a generation that shine as bright as the sun. This song is about what it is to be a man. Never will we see his like again.
My mother and aunt adored Frank Sinatra. They couldn't hear enough. Used to drive me crazy. This was a good memory. Come Fly With Me, I'd say is one of his best.
It's basically a song about self responsibility and a realization that as long as you do things your way, you can't regret the outcome because you did it your way.
I love all types of music...I’m 67 yrs old, grew up with 60’s, 70’s music but if it sounds good to me, I’ll listen to it but it’s so refreshing to hear someone listen to Sinatra, Righteous Brothers, Cab Calloway, etc! Thanks so much for playing it all! Good to know that music isn’t lost in time.
My favorite line from this song…”Not to say the things that he truly feels And not the words of someone who kneels Let the record shows I took all the blows and did it my way”. Great reaction
This is the one and only Old Blue Eyes: Frank Sinatra. I love this song. U need to listen to Sal Vallentinelli sing this song. He's a younger italian with a great voice!!!
This was not my listening genre, but when you reacted to I've got you under my skin it was fabulous. So I checked out that album (yes album) and his music was out of this world. I loved ALL of it!... Thanks for this video:)
Frank is an absolute legend. I grew up listening to him because he is my father's favorite singer and I appreciate his music more and more as I get older. I think Italian babies in the womb know who Frank is cuz we are pretty proud of our boy. ;) I'm really enjoying your channel. You bring a lot of thoughtfulness and vulnerability to your reactions.
In his day all audiences were quiet when people sang, it was a sign of respect. The fifties and sixties changed everything. Frank was my mother's heart throb. She was a jitter-bugger and ball room dancer who born during the depression. She was a teenager during the 2nd World War. She loved all the crooners, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Perry Como, and Mel Torme to name a few.
3:30 What a great opinion and description. Although karaoke might be fun to sing this too, if you were at a concert, he controlled the stage with his voice and everyone was in awe.
My dad was a huge Frank Sinatra fan. We played this song at his memorial when he died. Nine months later I was out with friends celebrating my first birthday after his death. I excused my self to use the men’s room at the bar we were at. This song was playing over the sound system (different than what was in the bar). To this day I’m convinced my dad was there with me. I can’t hear this song now without thinking of that memory and crying.
Another thing to remember about this particular version of this song is that it was recorded late in Franks life. He was past his prime when this version was recorded - imagine when he sung it in his prime!
Listen to Frank from 1953 - 1960 on Capitol Records, before his voice started to fray. Nobody has ever interpreted a song better than him. He sang like an actor with a brilliant voice. And he was an excellent actor, too.
When you feel like its YOU vs THE WORLD, and we all get that feeling from time to time, THIS is the song that you NEED to build yourself back up to face the day.
just heard this for the first time today, its one of the highest level of music i have ever heard. the message, the soul, the grand beautiful music, perfects vocals and notes. music/art really does reflect life and you can really feel it in this song. it pierced my soul man
He said he learned how to breath correctly while singing by watching how Tommy Dorsey controlled his breathing while playing the trombone . That lead to Sinatra's magnificent phrasing.
My Way. Paul Anka was in France back in 1967 when he heard the original French version 'Comme d'habitude' sung by Claude François. Paul Anka liked the melody ( composed by Claude François and Jacques Revaux) , he adapted the lyrics and offered the song to Sinatra.
Frank "Old Blue Eyes" Sinatra is a legend. Elvis also does a rendition of this song that is amazing too. Check out Frank doing "New York, New York". AMAZING.
Elvis also did a version of this. People always say, “Yeah, but who did it better.”. Who did it better. A very tough question. They both made it their own.. I cannot choose, as most people cannot. You need to hear Elvis sing this and see what we mean. Great reaction. Take care.
Sinatra honed his craft as a singer for Tommy Dorsey's Big Band in the 1940s. It was where he learned phrasing and breath control. You will never hear the rasp of air when Sinatra inhales before he sings. If you see concert film of him, he will make a quick movement of his wrist to turn the mic away from his mouth as he inhales so you never hear that breath. Huge talent but decades of sheer hard work.
Unlike many other legends, Frank seems to stay within a single octave range. And yet, he navigates that range masterfully, with great control throughout.
Used to be a place near where my aunt used to live called the 3 Little Bakers. It was a restaurant that had jazz shows and Frank Sinatra covers were what they primarily played, but now it's a children's medical center. I'll miss that place.
New to your videos. I love the genuine reactions and willingness to listen to anything with an open mind. Great song. Great video. Keep it up. Blessed be.
This was my dad's fav song every time he had a few drinks wt his buddy they would put this on the jukebox and belt it out louder the the song playing I loved it and I absolutely love this song I think of my dad every time I hear it makes me miss him even more!!! thanks Rome
Sinatra was the best. I have this album and listen to it often in my car while driving. My biggest regret is I never had a chance to see him in concert when he was alive.
Originally, it's a French song called "comme d'habitude (as usual)" written in 1967 by Claude François and Jacques Revaux, and sung by Claude François (who was a very famous French singer). Paul Anka brought this song back to the United States and rewrote the lyrics in English; he was also the first to sing it there 1 year before Sinatra. :)
Excellent reaction ! So glad you have open up to new styles of music. There is more good music than one can hear in a lifetime. But we can try ! I'll be watching.
Hey - just an FYI - Back in the 30's-40's popular (and jazz) music revolved around "standards," which were songs written by folks like Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and the Gershwin Brothers. So you would get many different artists singing their own versions of these standards. Under my skin is a good example - you'll find many versions.
Hope you are well Brother. Thanks for being real I heard this from my parents. If bands forget the horns violins, drums and percussion they forget the music. It's not the color of your skin it's what's in your heart. The Anthem STAYS.
We had duluxe adverts here with an old english sheepdog when I was little. they had a cover of this about painting and...... I can't unsee it decades later.
an anthem. if ever there has been a "personal statement" song so matched to a singer, this is it. and the English lyrics were written by talented singer/songwriter Paul Anka, to a French song, for Sinatra
His music was never my kind of music but I identify his talent and unique qualities. Nobody quite like him. Thanks for being open to this classic, even though its day is long done.
Wow loved your reaction video!!!! Frank Sinatra is my favorite singer of all time ! So every time I see someone in my newsfeed reacting I must definitely tune in and I’m never disappointed! Thanks for bringing some good vibes to my day ! Hope I see more ! Have you listened to THATS LIFE ???
Another great song by Frank Sinatra is That's Life. By the way, Paul Anka wrote the words to this song specifically for Frank Sinatra who was thinking of retiring from the business. The music was from a French song that Anka had acquired the rights to for one dollar.
He was pigeonholed as a crooner. But here he is singing his heart, soul, and guts out. As if he is trying to cram in all he wants to say within the little time that he felt he had left. That is his living will.
Oh man, Sinatra is a gold mine of hits. You Make Me Feel So Young Come Fly With Me It Was a Very Good Year Fly Me to the Moon That's Life I've Got the World on a String Ring-A Ding Ding Just to name a few. you better damn well believe he did it his way and if you know anything about him you know that is true!! this was a great reaction to one of all time great talents. loved it!!
The words were written by Paul Anka for Frank's first retirement in 1969, checkout 'New York, New York' but not a live recording. Also similar to this is Elvis 'If I Can Dream'
The ultimate anthem to define swagger.
You couldn't have put it better when you said, "He has the kind of voice that you don't sing along, you want to listen".
So very true my friend.
From that same generation,Dean Martin has the same kind of smooth mesmerizing voice that amazes you without having to do any vocal gymnastics. They were both class acts and they were very close friends
His voice was smooth like velvet and crystal clear
Total agree lol it was my honour to have seen him perform three times 32 years ago
WHAT MORE CAN A PERSON DO THAN TRY THE BEST HE CAN . THIS SONG 🎵 GOT ME THRU SOME TUFF TIMES 🤧
I was lucky enough to have seen francis albert sinatra in three countries ireland england and my own scotland
His song New York is an iconic!
I agree that his song "New York New York" is worth a listen
LOL. You must be under 30.
Yo is that your cat on the profile picture ? Wow yo that’s radical woah
@@v-town1980 So what if they are?

My fave is "That's Life"... the guy has that swagger..
Great reaction!
Old blue eyes could sing!
Have to do him singing with the Rat Pack.
Sammy Davis Jr. sings "Me and My Shadow" with Frank!
Have you listened to the whole Rat pack " together? You should REALLY listen to some Dean Martin also
I'll definitely second Dean Martin.
Love Dean Martin! "Sway" is a good one. czcams.com/video/DXq-XdyGehk/video.html
My gosh, yes. Dean-O had a voice for the ages.
Hey mambo, mambo Italiano
Both Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin were part of a tightly knit band of friends called The Rat Pack. My favorite Dean Martin song is SWAY
So fun to see you react to this! I think you'd like "It Was A Very Good Year" - my favorite Frank song :)
That's my fave as well!
@@elfury7678 mine too
When I hear that I can only think of the Simpsons parody where Homer sang, “When I was 17, I had my very first beer, a very good beer, that I bought with a fake ID.”

😭This song with Frank's voice moves me to tears. So powerful ❤ R.I P. Frank. You are a legend
Now you know why he is "The Chairman of the Board".
Co-chairman of the board with Whitey Ford.
Not even a question, this is my favorite Sinatra song. It might be my FAVORITE song, period. I can’t get through the whole song without tearing up
When I was Seventeen is another Sinatra one, and Strangers in the Night.
Strangers in the Night is his best in my opinion.
That song's title is, That Was a Very Good Year
LOL. Another under 30 twat.
The Crooners were just COOL. Class, Gentlemen, and pure talent.
Frank could sing his shopping list and I'd still listen!! ❤️❤️
Check out his buddy, Dean Martin, everybody love somebody sometime
While Frank is really super good, Dean Martin has my heart as the best crooner. I watched all the movies and heard all the songs of both. Amazing talent you cannot find these days.
Yessss

My beloved, strong willed grandmother wanted this played at her funeral. It had us all in tears because it was SO her.
My mother and aunt adored Frank Sinatra. They couldn't hear enough. Used to drive me crazy. This was a good memory. Come Fly With Me, I'd say is one of his best.
Completely surprised at your reaction. Frank Sinatra was a true gem, and talented beyond measure.
"he has a voice so strong, you just wanna listen" I've always wanted to get that point across to my friends and fam and you nailed it bro!
I suffer from anxiety, Sinatra always sooths me.
It's basically a song about self responsibility and a realization that as long as you do things your way, you can't regret the outcome because you did it your way.

One of my favorite songs of all time. This song has been covered by so many singers including Elvis. Frank's version is my favorite
“Fly Me To The Moon” is my personal favorite from Frank Sinatra. You should react to that!
Frank is the Don of all us Italians. He will never be replaced.
My favorite line from this song…”Not to say the things that he truly feels
And not the words of someone who kneels

Great way to describe Sinatra's singing. I suspect every person who hears this song hopes they can say the same when their life draws to a close.
This is the one and only Old Blue Eyes: Frank Sinatra. I love this song. U need to listen to Sal Vallentinelli sing this song. He's a younger italian with a great voice!!!

"for what is a man, what has he got? If not himself, then he has not. To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels."

Frank was Elvis before Elvis. The girls were swooning at his appearances in the 40's. Frank was DA MAN!
I love that you're taking tessons from past masters. And you've definitely been an a roll.

The Flower 🌹
People who analyzed him over the years decided it was his phrasing that was so unusual. You understood each and every word and knew what he meant.
He said he learned how to breath correctly while singing by watching how Tommy Dorsey controlled his breathing while playing the trombone . That lead to Sinatra's magnificent phrasing.

Just found your channel and love it!
Fantastic reaction to an absolutely excellent song and message from the greatest!
He was pigeonholed as a crooner. But here he is singing his heart, soul, and guts out. As if he is trying to cram in all he wants to say within the little time that he felt he had left. That is his living will.
Mr. Sinatra will live forever...My kids, and grandkids like him... I am hoping the rest of the kids will keep the music going...
Excellent reaction....keep up the good work....very important.

Love your channel- Elise Frank’s mom - also your attitude is so refreshing
Love Frank he was the man! I believe he liked to hang out with the mob too!
Great reaction to this beautiful song!
You got to hear "that's life" by Sinatra and "rags to riches" by Tony bennet
I think your amazing opening up to different genre's....adore you
The song was written by canadian composer Paul Anka. I really enjoy your reviews because you have a true sensitivity to the nuances of music.
His Christmas albums will change your whole holiday season
An absolutely amazing legend!!💜🎶🎼🎵 Old blue eyes!!!💜💜💜
