This song was written about Robert Plant & Jimmy Page’s drive through the Sahara Desert, actually on their way to Morocco. They were going to a music festival, Plant fell in love with Morocco, & still visits there often. The lyrics actually do tell a story, this is the song the band is most proud of. All their songs our amazing, anything you’d pick is well worth a listen. Each of them are the GOAT of their crafts, & together they were the GODS of MUSIC. Some of my favorites are, studio You Shook Me, 3 solos of keyboard harmonica & guitar with amazing vocals & drums. Anything live from Madison Square Garden (1973), try Since I’ve Been Loving You. Live at Earls Court the May 25,1975 version of In My Time Of Dying, it will blow your mind. Live at Knebworth (1979), Achilles Last Stand, another to blow your mind. Kashmir live at Knebworth is also amazing. These 4 geniuses are the greatest also live, 3 to 4 hour nonstop concerts. Robert Plant plays the harmonica in a few songs, he’s excellent. Thanks for your reaction, please do so much more Led Zeppelin.

And also, Robert Plant is the singer, considered one of the greatest rock singers of all time. Jimmy Page is considered the second greatest guitarist of all time, just behind Jimmy Hendrix. John Bonham is considered the greatest drummer of all time. He is the only band member who is considered the greatest of all time in their instrument. Every list in the world names him as the greatest drummer of all time, even stupid lists like Rolling Stone magazine. And John Paul Jones is the bassist and keyboard player. He is very underrated and he is a legend. You can tell his briliance from this song. They all became The Led Zeppelin when they were 20. They were kids here. They are currently ranked the 3rd greatest band in history, just behind The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. But that's all just popularity and influence, in reality, they are considered the greatest rock band. The Beatles don't have a single song close to being anywhere near as good as Stairway To Heaven or Kashmir.

You do know a fair amount , but let me please correct one error: Tbey were most certainly NOT all 20 year old kids. Plant was 19 in July of 1968 when the band first started rehearsing. Turned 20 in August. Bonham turned 20 in May of ‘68. Jimmy Page was 24 in January of ‘68 and was a well-seasoned studio player and band member. Looked up to by Plant and Bonham as already having “made it” professionally. JPJ was 22 in January of 1968 and was also a seasoned studio player.
It doesn’t take anything away from their rocket ride straight up to the zenith of rock, but they were not all “kids”. Luckily so, because it was Page’s experience in the music world and his skill as a producer that got them their fantastic contract with Atlantic Records….along with his connection to Peter Grant.

Yes and Led Zep are certainly the biggest and best bands from the 70'. There are other great bands but not with the success of these two (well there is Pink Floyd in that era too). As many others say, always start with the studio versions even if the live ones are sometimes bigger. Immigrant song is a good example of that. It's a short song: you could do both versions in one video. Immigrant song was for me a real shock when I first heard it in 1971 (age 13 back then). 13:40 Led Zeppelin vs Yes? My friend, Yes is NOWHERE NEAR Led Zeppelin in any field. As you react to more of the songs of the two bands, you will see the massive difference between rock legends and Yes. Not saying that Yes sucks, but I mean, comparing it to The Led Zeppelin is funny. Led Zeppelin is considered the second greatest rock band of all time, behind The Beatles, and Yes is not even top 30.

@@docnflossie7351 Well, if you read a bunch of rankings, you'll see that what he says is true. Yes is an excellent band, but Led Zeppelin is in a class all their own. If you don't like rankings, let's look at album sales. Yes has total album sales in the range of 30 million. Led Zeppelin's 4th album alone has sold more than that (37 million), and their total album sales are in the range of 300+ million, so ten times what Yes has sold even though Led Zeppelin's last studio album dropped 55 years ago. There's a reason these four guys are called "legends".

Well I have a suggestion for you... This Led Zep track is from 1975..... But 32 years later the band performed a one off reunion gig at the O2 centre and I really want you to watch that live version... The guys were obviously a little older, lol, Rober Plant, the singer, was 59 in 2007 and he performs the song even better live than he did on the ablum. Oh yes... their original drummer had passed away years before but fof this one off concert they got his son Jason Bonham to play the drums and his dad would have been proud. I will leave a link to the live wersion... Hope you get time to react to it..!!
