Hey, you've got to give him props for the previous attempt. He actually managed to remove the old HDMI port and solder a new one on (albeit, incorrectly) without damaging the pads.
A microscope really makes a huge difference doing this kind of job.
@@orangesharpy yeah I learned the hard way
You had me going there for a moment in the beginning, I thought: that’s it…..we lost him
😆
That's exactly what's happened to me :)
Don’t under estimate the Power of the Force
Hey, at least all the solder pads are intact. Could have been a lot worse, you have to give them some credit.
Perfect way to start my Saturday morning -> watch the King do his thing!
props for xbox for making such robust hardware (at least in this case) that can withstand such shorts and still be live when fixed...
Ive started doing this type of soldering and only now can I appreciate how difficult it is and your skill level Alex. Great work as always.
you need some good equipment too.
@@goku445 It helps to an extent, but I've seen many do an excellent job using standard equipment. It's a skill which needs practice.
Customer was using the all in one technique to prevent a broken trace --- smart! 😂🤣
Have to give props to the person that unisoldered those pins. They didn't rip any pads or mounting rings off during their port replacement.
Trying to do this type of soldering with just your eyes is very difficult! You need those microscope camera to see perfect! Along with a good soldering iron and heat station!
And don't forget the flux. Without flux, you cannot do the "better than factory"
@@rendy1985 yes forgot about the flux! Lol you do need good flux!
I tried getting a magnifying glass and I still couldn't see the pins correctly. Ended up buying a €120 scope (hopefully andonstar original)
@@omgused Yea I actually tried microsoldering recently and the only way I could see the really small components and actually do stuff without a full microscope camera is using a high-zoom watchmaker's eyeglass (inherited from grandfather).
Shit's hard lol.
Having fun helps the day go by. Nice work.
Not everyone is a master like you, or have the equipment you have. At least they tried and it didn't look like a hacked up mess. Minus the blobs of course. Love your work!
You always make this look easy , great job and stay safe, peace.
You are amazing what you do, you make it look so easy, I live in South Africa thank you for the encouragement
Hi Alex,
The best method I have seen on CZcams for HDMI port replacement 👌
Did not watch all of your videos (at least not yet) but I watch all new ones that come out 😀. I always loved electronics, repairs.
All your videos are amazing and the way you work is amazing. I follow all your videos and learn every day.🇩🇿🇩🇿
is amazing you can remove a hdmi port without ripping the traces, then fit a new one bridging every pin in the process.
guessing he didn't have solder wick.
ps if you brigde all the pins you get 24k output, but unfortunately no TV supports this resolution at this time .
he's a trail blazers 🤭
Yesterday I bought a Micro USB connector and I realized how accurate your hands are! I barely can see the pins without any optical magnification.
A combination of perfect job and nice humour too🙏🙏
Nice skil when see you soldering anything👍👍👍👍👍
Alex! your attempt at humour had me in stitches..hehe
That one blob solder looked solid and better than factory !
A nice amusement Alex 🤣 You do a incredible jobs as always. Always support your channel.
Those consoles are too expensive for inexperienced people to be attempting repairs on them. You did a wonderful job as always.
Still enjoying watching your video even weekend...nice ang good day!
Hi Alex, enjoy your weekend, I m going to try this repair attempt next. Haha.
You got me there , I seriously believed you were serious about the new technique.
Great video as always , thank you
Lovely! Very satisfying. Wish my skills were at this level!
Brilliant love watching this guy soldering
Thanks again for your time in giving us this knowledge
This I happened to do this kind of repair where I soldered everything in just one solder blob. It got me thinking as to what could be the cause and I came to realize that at time the heat wasn't enough or my iron tip had a problem. My flux as well. But the less heat of the iron coupled with inexperience was the primary cause.
😂 nice...19 in 1...done.
Alex you should do a "best of five" worst attempted repair or something like that. I bet you often see things you won't believe.
Great job, great fix by a master of repairs. Thanks for the video
That was brilliant ! Great work 👏
I like it when you discover the fix and smile. It’s like you discovered the cure for aging.
Awesome work as always 👌
I love it. So neat. Better than factory indeed. 💗
Did the customer include his blown tv for repair? I had to listen to and watch twice that "new" technique because all of your videos are educational for me on electronics and English (of course). Thanks for sharing your experiences day by day.
Another level soldering technique
Hi, have a nice day 😊, your channel is one of rarely those i comment before i play the video 😁 because i know it's all helpful and useful, thanks for sharing us your experience .
Best regards.
You're always right Alex.
Great video as always 👍🏼
Keep up the great work
Big up for the customer he make my day 😂😂😂
Thanks again and again Mr alex , 👍❤️
good technique ...have a great day sir
Great repair
You are awesome sir🤗
Nice Job Alex ...
Thanks 4 sharing !!!!
Good job but he's way to join all 19 pins was even more solid except for the part it wasn't working. 😂😂😂😂
Better than factory. Nice one Sir.
You are really a big "maestro" for electronics... 😊✨
Dear Alex that must be all in one :)))) nice, clean and prestine job.regards to your family and specially bigboss
As if they got the old connecter off fine and put this one then soldered all the pins together they already did the hard bit,
As always, great Material 👍
Thanks for the video :)
Simple like that!!! Amazing!!
So amazing. Do you get alot of issues like this?
Nice one Alex.
Nice job and video like always
Very nice repair Alex. Funny that many people think connecting all pins will work 🤣 luckely they have you to fix it better then factory
Really strange, looked like a ruler of soldering.... great repair as always!!!
Great video 👍👍
Indeed Pin by Pin with persistence and perfection better than factory.
Good job!
Nice job 👍
I've been doing these techniques for a decade, works fine for my trash can
Perfect explain bro keep rocking 👍👍👍
Great like always
It was a nice consistent line though 😂
I thought that this was a legit new way to do it, hahaha. YOU GOT ME BRO!
Good job Sir
the customer thought they could get away with saying solid just once lol
What kind of flux do you recommend for desoldering the xbox series s hdmi port, and what temp would you guess the solder on board comes loose at? I've got my heat gun set at 600 f,is that too much or should it be 900f? Heard somewhere it's about 900, but I'm asking everywhere I can to try and get a good idea what will work best. I'm experienced with micro precision soldering, so im familiar, but not familiar with working on the xbox s series or any xbox for that matter.
Great job
solid and perfect
Solid , solid solid, solid as a rock.
Ghost buster movie in the 1980s said it best. Never cross the streams. It applies to electronics.
Atleast the one the Customer soldered on was solid as a brick 🤣🤣🤣
always watching. god bless...
Soldering skill over 9000
Cool fix
He must have learnt the soldering technique from you, but missed the last part where you extract the excess solder/bridging using wick and soldering iron.
Problems with limited data networks I guess.
😂
Good job
Nice one sir
VERY lucky that nothing else was damaged from sending 5 volts to through all the data lines. However yet again you did a great job and it looks better than factory
It's more like he sent GND through all the data lines. Once shorted directly to ground, there isn't much voltage left
Do you use water soluble or rosin flux?
I've been using amtec 4300lf with Kester eutectic water soluble. A little rise and brush with regular or distilled water makes the work area sqeaky clean.
I use amtech 559. We are a distributor of Amtech. northridgefix.com/product/amtech-nc-559-v2-tf-flux-10g-syringe-plunger-2-needle-sizes/
Super solid
When you was checking the pins and said I am not saying solid for every pin I bet you was thinking it 🤣
Damn, take it he tried to drag solder it?
Thumbnail had me going, thought that was yours midway before removing the excess.
I'm about to addon a 2nd m.2 nvme connector and support caps on my laptop, so hopefully everything goes well.
You are lucky this time, no missing pads.
"The back is good, the front is perfect" -Reminded me of someone 🤣
Next they need to refine the solder so you blob it on all pins and it conducts through only to the proper pins. 😳 Smart Solder.
They got us in the fist half, not gonna lie. The electrons know where to go :)
I always solder the support legs first, in case I slip and rip all the small ones off.
Yes proper soldering :-))
Nice job
thanks
I thought there was something like the pad restorer or something like that to fix but I got to know!
