Xbox Series X DIY Repair Fail - They Almost Fixed It - Can I? I bought a broken Xbox Series X that someone else tried to fix but wasn't successful. Now I'm trying to see if I can figure out what's wrong and get this game console working again. The original problem was the HDMI port but that doesn't mean I won't discover something else is wrong as well.

Nah, it's because people have figured out you can fix these reasonably easily. You used to be able to get a "new" (released less than 6 months ago) smartphone by buying 2-3 broken phones and piecing a fully working one together for 40-60% of the retail price. Good luck trying to do that now. The rise of the repair industry wiped out those low "broken" electronics prices.

Pro-tip for anyone who wants to work on tiny things at home and doesn't have a microscope to perform/inspect their work, use a camera just about anything will work even digital zoom through a smartphone works great, which camera isn't too important what is however is getting a ring light or several lights that can illuminate the board evenly and of course having some sort of boom arm or something to hold it over your work rather than a stand sitting in the way.
Seriously, anything is better than nothing and a camera is a huge improvement over using something like a magnifying glass, maybe those head magnifiers work alright, but the good ones cost more than I'm willing to put down on something I won't be using a lot.

I am still amazed at how they could solder such small pins without bridging the connections and here I am having issues soldering some small capacitors which are still larger than those pins from the HDMI port and I am still having a hard time preventing it from bridging.

The people that get paid good money to fix these problems most of the time just give up , this guy and a few others I’ve watched on CZcams go above and beyond the call to fix what those guys give up on , it’s awesome there are still people out there that want to work and do their job to the fullest , you certainly have my respect sir.

I suspect many problems in the world could be fixed if they only used the perfect amount of thermal paste. Enjoyable video!

Thermal paste is no joke. When I built this computer I used an AMD Ryzen 3600 as a temporary CPU until I could find a Ryzen 5900x. I wasn't sure I did good with the thermal paste and the temps were higher than I felt were appropriate. Since it was a temp CPU I left it alone. Then I got my 5900x in and made sure I did a better job on the thermal paste. in spite of having twice the CPU cores and being a higher temperature chip, it runs 5 degrees cooler than the 3600 did. (oh and both run cooler than my old intel i7-2600 did thanks to my water cooling setup)

Good video, Steve. When you pointed out those bridged pins, I thought it looked like they were connected to the same trace. If that were true, it wouldn't matter if they were bridged. But I guess my quick observation was wrong. Well done.
