    Here is a rare treat. An homage to an Oris! Personally, I love this design of watch. Skin divers are a more vintage style of watch and have an elegant charm in their design. I had to see if this was a successful homage from Steeldive.
    This watch was sent to me by Steeldiveuk.com. This one I do not have to send back. Even though I get some free watches now and then, I never get paid money for my reviews. I always disclose how I obtain anything for this channel. CZcams demand it, and I demand it too, as you guys deserve the most honesty and clarity to help you know the review you are seeing is as unbiased as possible. I assure you I am NOT told what to say or not say, nor am I paid via money to review these watches. If I am positive about a watch overall, guess what? It is a good watch! Lol.
    You can get this watch from www.steeldiveuk.com/
    This is a long video, because no one has reviewed this watch yet, so I wanted to be as thorough as possible!
    I really appreciate you watching my content, and if you wish to support the channel, apart from subscribing, check out my eBay shop, as there I have a nice selection of high quality new straps, plus a few watches I hope you like! Thanks so much. www.ebay.co.uk/str/watchmewit... The small print: All watches in all my videos are genuine items and not copies or fakes. Homage watches are legal and I just review them. I am careful to use the word "homage" when presenting that type of watch, because that is what they are. All images and sounds used are either my own or used under the fair use policy. Thank you. I have an Oris 65 diver (like the one you had) and I love it. However I think Steeldive are exceptional value with excellent QC and I can't help dwelling on the £1300 I spent on my Oris and how that would translate to around 10 Steeldives! I have two already and I will be ordering one of these in the very near future. Great review, thanks.

      If they chinese homage makers could start selling watches with optional hardening coating on the steel like what Seiko does with some, then it would be more attractive for us weird freaks!

    I personally don't think it not having a date window is a bad thing, I understand it for the homage purposes but for those of us who buy these type of watches we probably have tons or at least a handful that have date windows on them all. It's almost refreshing to not see a date window and sometime it just cleans up the watch. Especially if they just added a white date wheel and it just doesn't look the best. It would still look good with the date wheel, but I'm liking these companies are making some watches without them.

    Dan, your professional and lighthearted approach to watch reviews is valuable, instructive and very much appreciated. Although there are quite a few watch review channels on CZcams, the good reviewers can be counted on the fingers of one hand where some others appear to be jumping on the “watch reviewer’s bandwagon” with very little basic knowledge of watches. Thanks for the review of the SD1965 and it looks fantastic (I’m already drooling) and with it’s timeless simplicity, it would not look out of place on James Bond’s wrist. Also, good to see that your left thumb is back on the road to recovery.

    I've had my STEELDIVE '65ORIS for about a year and a half. Absolutely one of my favorites in my collection. The dial and details are perfect, glossy, inky black with beautiful polished framed indices. The lume is spectacular. You are spot on to concentrate on the case finish because it is as good as watches that cost MUCH more.
    The only letdown is the stock rubber 'rally' strap, but I ordered the tropic rubber you have shown here and it's not too bad. I keep it on the tropic rubber for summer and I have a leather racing rally for cold weather.
    All and all, it's a watch that I always ALWAYS look forward to putting on wrist in it's rotation through my collection.

    There's no doubt about it Steeldive are a cut above most of the other homage producers. I've got the captain Willard and it is a beautiful watch. Having a uk outlet as well just makes it a no brainer. Matthew offers great customer service and from ordering to receiving was less than 24 hours. The trouble I have is it is just a homage. I really would like the real thing and having worn this for a few weeks I'm going to probably get the real thing. Hats off to them though anyway. They produce fantastic watches for fantastic prices.

    @user-is5xj4hn9d Před rokem

    READ THIS BEFORE BUYING! I bought this watch after viewing this video. Overall, I only have one quarrel with this watch, which is make or break for me. First, this watch might have the best turquoise/blue lume I’ve ever seen on a watch. It is beautifully applied and looks fantastic. My only issue with this watch is that the rotating bezel 100% does not align with 12 o’clock position. In order to do so, it has to be set between the click before or after 12, which is really a shame. Upon further scrutiny, I realized that the angle of the 12 o’clock marker is slightly angled too, which makes it more apparent. I reached out to Steeldive and they basically told me that there’s slight variation in these watches and so I’m SOL. If you can get past the possibility of small details like this, I definitely suggest it. However, I’m really disappointed with Steeldive’s response.

    • @watchmewithwatches
      @watchmewithwatches  Před rokem

    These two features are standout for me: i think the oris will have a machined finish, with sharp transitions, whereas the steeldive seems to have vague transitions looking like it has been hand finished with sandpaper or similar, therefore I certainly wouldn't say the "brushing" is "good quality." @@watchmewithwatches I agree. An applied logo, or even just the applied name with no logo at all, would be a massive improvement. To be fair, the white logo and name don't look too bad on the watch in this video, due to the colours of the watch. On a couple of others I want to buy, like the bronze fifty fathoms homage, it really clashes with the rest of the watch. You can get sterile dial versions of steeldive watches from China, which I may end up going for. The UK supplier, unfortunately, said he doesn't sell them.

    I'm very interested in this watch. But, again, I wish it was a high beat movement. I say it every time. That being said, the extra features this bad lad has maybe almost enough for me to buy.
    I agree on the tropic straps. That's what you do for vintage divers.
    Thank you Geepas. Thank you mminch.

    I just don’t understand why these homages have not adopted the PT5000 movement. It is a high beat movement with a very high degree of accuracy. Despite the advantages inherent to the PT500 these homages just can’t break their addiction to the ole’ standby (i.e. Seiko ‘s workhorse but yet low beat movement). Maybe one day

      I like to get you all warmed up. Lol. Remember, there is a skip forward 10 second button if you get bored. Press that a few times if you like.

    Looks nice except logo and name. Chinese watch companies need to be careful when branding their watches.

    You take too long to get to the main specifics of the watch.

      How long would be ideal?

      22 minutes seems too long for a single watch review, I’m not a pro or anything but I would focus on the specs, movement and possibly the background/history of the watch. Keep the opening review short and simple and get right to the watch.
