An excellent review! Great to see the macro comparisons. I have wanted that Oris foe a while now but simply can't justify the cost to my pocket. This review has convinced me to jump on that Steeldive at the next Ali sale

Your video is very good and honest. Personally for this design I prefer the aluminum bezel that gives it that retro air. Thanks for the comparison.

Great video! It’s amazing what kind of quality you can get for $150. Seestern is another brand making great watches for little money. You could compare one to your Doxa. It really does make you wonder what the real cost is for the more expensive watches.

The Steeldive logo and font kills the beauty of the watch. Would be better offered as a sterile dial. Even without the logo that font with serifs is too thick. I got the Squale homage by Steeldive, SD1979, at least the branding is printed in grey, so it does not stand out. They can replicate the watch designs, but they can't come up with a decent logo and typeface (and they should choose between logo or brand name only, on the dial). Seestern is the only one that has nice branding of these Chinese companies. Maybe Heimdallr is ok with the shark. San Martin is OK as well, but the logo appears too large.

@@wristwatchdave422 Sure! I think if we all took a minute and write to Addiesdive, and Steeldive that we like their products, but we are turned off by the poor logo and branding, we would buy more if such design was more subtle and minimal, maybe it could make a difference. Mention San Martin, Seestern as examples of Chinese companies who have better branding. But even US company Island Watches (or is it Long Island Watches?) had an offputting logo that looks like a subdial, often too close to the 12 hour marker. A bad logo that stands out it is often a dealbreaker for me.

@@stefpix Absoloutely - totally agree. I just do not understand why these companies put so little thought into the branding of their watches. The quality of the Chinese watches is getting better and better but the branding is always terrible and that's the easiest thing to get right. It's not difficult to come up with a good name and logo. Employing an English speaking person to create the brand name would be a good start. I've talked about this before in other videos. check out this one from two years ago on this same subject: czcams.com/video/m2EqJ-xiMhU/video.html

Steeldive does sterile dials but obviously you have to state that when you buy .

The hands of the Oris are domed, giving it a high quality three dimensional look, while the hands on the Steeldive seem to be just plain flat, with rough edges. They look way, way simpler than the hands on the Oris.

I will say, I own a couple Oris 65s and the aluminum bezel, although charming, gets scratched as easily one would expect. And, the lume is really weak. For the money, I think Oris could up the specs

I have the Steeldive and am considering the bronze version of which there is also a Steeldive option! Is the case size on your Oris 40mm or 38? There appear to be two different case sizes for the Sixty Five. Is this right? Yours appears to be identical to the Steeldive which would make it 42mm??

    • @wristwatchdave422

@@wristwatchdave422 Many thanks Dave. A little further investigation has revealed the Sixty Five comes with a bronze bezel/black bezel insert in a 42mm, but the stainless bezel/bronze bezel insert (the model I want) is only available in a 40mm which is a pity. I think 42mm suits this piece. Looks like I'll opt for the Steeldive all bronze in the next Ali sale! Pity as I had considered a genuine Oris but 40mm I think is too small
