    Amazing, was trying to figure out a way to get new speaker grills for my 91 vert. Since they no longer make them and a friend suggested I just paint my original ones. I followed the instructions like I have with so many other Late model resto videos and nothing short of excellent. These guys really know there stuff and know how to make an old car look young again. I added a coat of primer in the mix but regardless my speaker grills look brand new. Thanks Late model resto!

    If your using your air from the shop compressor to blow of the water make sure the compressor has an oil separator installed on it. If not a small amount of oil from the compressor can be blow on your newly cleaned part and this can cause fisheyes in the new paint.

      Is it me but nearly every video about applying rattle can spray dyes and paints have the guy doing the spraying not wearing a respirator or any protective coverings for the eyes, or skin. The ingredients in rattle cans are lethal. I have a neighbor who used to paint tons of stuff in his garage using rattle cans and over the years, he became very ill from the buildup of toxins in his blood. And those toxins get in your body, they don't leave

Due to the black color of the dash pad, should there be a primer type base paint before spray painting it with the Canyon Red? If not, will your simple video process work to cover the dark black color? As for your video, you're simply coloring over with the same type color versus fully changing to a different color. • @latemodelrestoration
      @latemodelrestoration  Před 5 lety +1

      Denatured alcohol will normally do the trick for removing the old paint. This will not be as harsh as some acetones that could eat the plastics. Make sure to clean as much off as possible first using the red scotch brite with soap and water first, then go to the alcohol for the last step.

      8 cans for a car 6 for a truck, 3 cans of plastic adhesive for prep. It's dye color not paint, it will bond if done correctly no tacky feeling like paint. Those first two coats going with a light dusting is key to longevity.

    I know the prep was done very, very well and I know the paint is a good quality product, but I would recommend against using paints or dyes to change one's interior color.
    Advice to others: Just buy OEM plastics in your preferred color when applicable.

    You’re better off going to a paint store and looking at paint chips to match the color. I painted the console with the smoke gray and the shade wasn’t even close...way lighter. You’d have to paint the entire dash and armrest to get this to work just due to the aging and UV damage of the existing interior color.

      Yes, you can go through your interior and paint or dye these items to do a complete color change.

      It’s alittle late, but depending on the color yes.
      It’ll be harder to cover up a black vinyl. But it’s possible. Red to black would be easy

    will this work on the seats as well?

      I feel like the answer would be no. I'm no expert in any sense, I would just imagine that each time you sit on it, the paint/dye would crack more and more.

      the lacquer paint is for hard plastic parts. The vinyl pain is intended for the vinyl material.

      Well my cans came in and looks like y'all are selling the same cans just putting labels over the front the UPC number is located on the bottom of the can ..and well on all the cans the UPC number is the same which means it's the same product with different stickers thrown on ....I kinda feel like you made me waste money on a extra can I dident need.
