    I enjoyed your video. When I spoke with the guys at my local automotive paint shop about painting my interior trim, they said you won't need the adhesion promoter for this application -it's designed for use on exterior plastics. Instead, they suggest using SEM 38353 Plastic Prep or similar products before shooting color.

    I’ve had good results on multiple vehicles using SEM.
    I went from a light poop brown everything to a two tone black and gray. The results were amazing. I painted seats and carpet with SEM and it took out (covered up) stains and discoloration.
    I didn’t know at the time to use adhesive promoter but it turned out great.

    If you are going for original look that’s the way to do it. If you want it to hold up and not crack or scratch off you need to sand down a little with 240 sand paper spray the bulldog then spray down some primer but add some bulldog to the primer when you are mixing it. Then you add your mat paint preferably. I did many cars with a gloss finish for car clubs and the gloss is very disturbing while driving. I have an 85 el camino that’s been sitting for over 10 years in the sun and the panels are just starting to crack.

    Also SEM sells their paint in non aerosol form if you want to use an air compressor and spray gun. I did my Foxbody with the cans but if I ever do it again I’ll use the gun. Great video.
    One thing to note is that when I researched the process all the info I found also said to go over the panels with a fine scotchbrite pad before spraying.Just something in case you wanted to try.

    • @ethanwingsit
      @ethanwingsit  Před 4 měsíci

      Thank you! In the next garage I’ll have an air compressor setup so if anyone has that I would certainly recommend the spray gun over the cans!
      For the scotchbrite, I did use that with the soap and water but very possible I was to go over again right before paint, I’ll keep that in mind when I touch them up!

    Shouldnt have to touch up that often. I used the sem since its better. I do red scotch pad over the plastic, use warm water with a few drops of dawn to wipe down,then instead of acetone(plastic and acetone dont get along) i use denatured alcohol...much more plastic friendly. Then use the bulldog,then primer and then sem color.
