I am fortunate that gambling addictions have not entered my circle of family and friends, but I know that such an addiction is not really about the money at all. The many comments on other videos complaining that footballers are highly paid so why do they need to gamble just miss the point of addiction. Great job Coach as always. Just wish the journalists had a microphone to pass around. The second to last person was barely audible on full volume. using an excellent Sony speaker and held it next to my ear and still it was a strain. With the amount of people who watch each presser, it just seems like it would drastically improve the experience. Also it would add context for those who cant blast it and have to guess the inquiry that was asked

There s something to this. There isn't a player at the club who would happily sacrifice their starting spot, for a rest. Obviously it's up to Eddie at the end of the day, and as far as I'm concerned, the rotation was enough before the injuries hit.

Re Botman. Any employee cannot be legally forced to have an op even if they are advised to have an op its down to the potential patient and when you do choose to have an op you are advised of the dangers of going under the knife . Nothing is clear cut…no pun intended.

Eddie seems to be pinning the blame entirely on Botman over his knee. He was the one playing him for another 2 games after the initial injury. He made the decision to play him week in week out when he was clearly not fit
He's not trying to pin anything on him. It was Botmans decision not to get the surgery. The club can't force him to get it.

I think this is where Eddie probably realises he has the most to learn.
He's a highly regarded coach and this is down to his training schedules. This is the first time in his career that he hasn't had a full week in between games, and I think he will improve next time. would love for us to qualify for Europe so he can implement what he's learned this season.

Is it fair to compare Newcastle United who have had an owner who didn’t even care about the state of the training facilities which were no better than most Championship clubs or owners who have continually sold young local talent for years to a club the stature of Liverpool who have successfully built a competitive sporting business from top to bottom over at least 40 decades.

Ah, can’t listen to anymore. Nice when you see your manager in a good mood, spending time with everyone. Defending everyone. But too many mistakes by the players, staff, lack of conviction drive and energy in games, and against West Ham I’m not sure if it’ll be the same old story. :/
He’s making light of the botman situation albeit rightly highlighting how big a miss it is, but it’s not just this seaons run in it’ll effect. It’s next season most of 2024 probably. Also tonali because knowing the FA it’ll be punishment. It affects the transfer window also, plans, pre season the lot of it. Because we can’t buy a bunch of players to replace them and if we can, we won’t because we already have two huge players missing but due back. So it has a knock on effect. In future though and I don’t care who disagrees, let’s not do business with Milan. And not throw money away just cos it’s a big name! That’s what happened! I mean the guy didn’t even speak English at the time ofc it wasn’t a primary target.

On Tonali, you fail to see the distinction between ‘normal’ people in society and footballers in the knowledge of strict rules in place not to bet in their own sport. Such nonsense from Howe. Kid glove nonsense. By all means support the player with his addiction issues but don’t make excuses for rule breakers. The average Joe is not banned from betting.
Consequence aren't always enough to stop an addicts tendancy to cause themselves harm. Smokers smoke despite knowing they will probably get cancer. Alcoholics drink despite knowing they will probably get kidney disease. Footballers that are gambling addicts bet knowing they will get banned if caught.
When you are an addict that isn't receiving the help you need, it can be out of your control. The only person talking nonsense is you by suggesting addiction is a choice.

No. Nonsense. The final decision is with the person picking the side. You didn’t have to pick Botman and yet you did, knowing all of the above. Howe cannot manage in the wider sense.
To trust a guy who says "I feel good and I'm ready" and has been the model of consistency since arriving... He admits mistakes, but nobody should be blamed just because we want someone to blame. Full investigation into things at the end of season as we've had such serious issues, but it's no one person at fault for this one.
As Eddie has highlighted, you can't FORCE a player to have surgery. If Sven has been saying that his knee was stronger and felt good through rest then what else can the management team do? You can't pin the lad down and force him under the knife man!!! Sven made an error, he has to pay for the consequence of that, i.e surgery!
Personally I wouldn't blame Howe for what happened, this is really down to Sven not listening to his body!

Sandro's ban was reduced because of his cooperation and willingness to admit he had an issue and to get help with it. If he hasn't continued SINCE the ban was imposed, then it would be extremely harsh to impose further sanctions on him. I can't wait to see him put on the famous black and white again and be the player we know he can be and shut a lot of people up. 🖤🤍
