Brock Purdy can process and play at an NFL level, absolute steal as the last pick in draft.
dude would be a steal for any team if drafted after 1st round
Has anyone drafted in the first round in that class had anything approaching Purdy’s impact on their team? Besides Kenny Pickett of course. 🤣
@@keyshi4789you are tripping if teams could redo the draft Purdy would be gone immediately….
@@biznatcho7 Purdy does have the advantage of the 49ers being a well put together team, so he has talent to work with, but his decision making is top notch and that will be key to a successful NFL career.
In a local interview today or yesterday he related that he was getting a bunch of “free agent” calls from teams wanting to sign him after the draft, assuming he wouldn’t get picked. So there were some teams interested. Niners made the best call.
Look how fucking calm he is
The day/night gets better when the JT drops a Purdy Vid . Love the content 🔥
BROCK PURDY IS HIM! @Theqbschool
Brock Purdy once threw the ball so hard, his hand broke the speed of light...
fact.@@jackburton4892
The contrast between this and the Fields video is insane. Not just in QB play, but just general competence. The scheme is sound, the players know their assignments, and the trust is there. They put their QB in a position to succeed, and he does what he needs to.
When I was first reading I thought you were pointing out that the vid is about an hour shorter 😂
@@TheGreatJakester😂😂
BROCK PURDY IS HIM! @Theqbschool
Insane Stats. Justin has 6 more yards and 3 picks more than Purdy.
As horrible as Fields been graded, he has thrown for the same yards... with a FAAAAAAR worst offensive line, and a faaaaar worst defense. Worst starting field position.
Do you all think Purdy would be doing the same if he played for the Bears?
@@anthonygreen127fields threw 12 more passes than purdy but yet only 6 more yards than him. Has a 70 something qbr while purdy has 100 something qbr
His pocket presence is something you only see out of 15 year vets. It’s fucking INSANE. He’s so incredibly calm.
@@Davidbenatities he IS him. I’m not saying he’s gonna be the next Tom Brady but I’m not saying he won’t be either. He’s got shit to work on for sure.
But for this being his first actual season as a starter, and basically still a rookie? HO LEE SHIT.
You can tell when it's a 49ers fan talking. Brock purdy has some limitations that are not likely to improve much. His base reminds me of Romo.. and he has a presence . He will always be decent, but not close to elite. But, you can defintely win champions with him. ( as long as he is not relied on to always win it).
@@killmoreturtles nobody said his game is perfect or that he’s the next coming of Christ. As a matter of fact, in my last comment I stated “he has shit to work on”. Lmfao
And I’m not exactly what you would call a 9ers fan.
@@killmoreturtles compare him to guys than have been in the league 5 years or less. His presence, foot work and calmness blows most all of those guys out of the water. Hell, it blows some long term vets out of the water. You don’t have to be a 9ers fan to acknowledge that.
@@killmoreturtles He's ALREADY close to elite
Best assessments in the business. I have been watching the NFL since 1969 as a 49ers fan. Watched Brodie, Spurrier, Montana, Young, Garcia, Kaep, and the recents. Purdy is the real deal and JT gives a strong critical analysis to support this.
Ok 😆 🤣 😂
i feel the same way. purdy is going to sort out his long ball issues and we could win a sb w him
Dude may not have the strongest arm but man he can read and process quickly and that is a skill itself..the way he stays calm in pocket is amazing to see for 2nd year qb
I think he has the arm, he just needs work on the long ball. I’d like JT to comment but I think he needs to get some air under those long throws. Flat throw plus energy / arm/ torque makes for an overthrow.
he has the arm, he's overthrowing his targets.. lol.. he's either gotta get better at accuracy of his long ball or it could be like he said, an issue with the runners not running as fast as they should.
@@mjbrown49yea you right kinda like geno smith throws where he drives the ball and not enough air on it..but pretty sure they will adjust as the season goes
He just needs to slightly moonball those a la russell wilson.
@@cheehee808_ yes, thats the term I was lookin for
Iowa State hasn't been the same ever since purdy left the program. It shows how important he was for ISU
That’s damn near every Q in the League. How’s Bama doing this year?
Holds so many records there. Between losing Purdy and Breece Hall, they have a ton of rebuilding to do.
@@jeffnorris5357 it might take another year or two for ISU to be competitive in big 12 again
Fr I took him and Breece hall for granted when they were playing at ISU
@@TheQBSchoolexcept not every QB starts all 4 years in College. Imagine trading up to take a guy like Trubisky who barely played a full season in college to a guy like Purdy who gets draft LAST. Just goes to show you how stupid NFL scouts and evaluators are. Trubisky is just an example of what teams do all the time in QB assessment. Horrid.
Was kinda worried when he was missing some of those shots downfield but glad we still pulled through for the dub. Crazy to think that this was his lowest passer rating grade in the regular season and the offense still put 30 points on the board. Anyways keep the videos coming!
Someone was saying that Purdy has so many good players on the 9ers compared to when he was at Iowa that it is actually easier for him. I know that isn't true but it"s funny to think about. I have watched football my whole life and never realized that I didn't know anything about it until I watched your videos. So thank you so much for the great videos!
*Iowa State
We don’t have much to be happy about football-wise, please don’t give Purdy to the hawks 😭
It might be true. Some QBs are best at maximizing the skill talent around them, whereas other QBs might be able to carry worse teams. You don't want a QB on this team that's less decisive and trying to unsuccessfully scramble his way out of a sack when a hot pass to McCaffrey or Deebo would've gained you 20 yards after the catch.
Believe it or not, it makes perfect sense, and these were my exact thoughts long before reading your comment. We have a talented QB that perhaps carried Iowa. And now you pair him with pro receivers his job just got easier and does the receiver's job.
Damn son, been checking your channel everyday for this analysis. Hell yes.
Every once in a while a player comes along that transcends fandom… think Montana Young Brady Manning and Mahomes.. with Brock’s story, his play and likability, he’s on that trajectory.
BROCK PURDY IS HIM! @Theqbschool
Whoa...
He is a more technical qb rather than raw like mahomes and will only get better lol
Stop it . He’s a check down merchant
Brock Purdy content = instant like.
Niners fans are so awkward
I had confidence in Purdy but was still skeptical about his ability. JT has cleared all doubt I had in Purdy with these awesome breakdowns of what Purdy is actually doing. Very impressed
I like Fields but it's wild to watch the Bears stuff then this stuff and see the contrast in decisiveness and awareness
Purdy isn’t always the reason the 49ers win games but he sure as hell hasn’t been the reason they have lost a game yet.
well i mean, he hasn't lost a single game when he's been able to finish one.
With a roster as stacked as the Niners that's to be expected. He's perfect for our team. I just wish he threw the deep ball a little better.
@@clapdrix72he’s only in his 9th start, in theory he is only getting better.

Been waiting for this all week!
Jauan Jennings (#15) is underrated. Aiyuk and Deebo get all of the recognition, but he has come in clutch so many times.
Brock did seem to have "happy feet" a bit at times in this game. Hope he can get that settled down. Still seems to be making the correct decisions on his throws and not trying to force things that aren't there.
Absolutely, they don't call him Third-and-Jauan for nothing! He's an excellent run-blocker, and that one-handed catch on 3rd and 4 in the NFC Championship game epitomizes what he does for the team.
Hey man, love the content! You’re easily my favorite football content creator, and I could watch your videos all day (and sometimes do) Could you do a video/videos where you analyze past games? Could be legendary games (Peyton 7tds or something) or infamous games (ex: Ty Detmer 7 ints). I think it would be a smash hit on this channel.
IMO there's a big appetite for this kind of content online. Great channel
Glad you enjoy it!
Bro, I just wanted to say congrats on the channel and all of your success over the years! I played at Luther Burbank High School in Sacramento, and got to watch you destroy us, and played against Carmazzi as a corner. I envied you guys so much, but learned a lot watching tape learning to read QBs. Wish you alk the best, keep plugging and sharing your vast knowledge of the game. Appreciate you.
I appreciate that!
Thanks for you hard work making this content and covering as many people as you do! Much love brother
Sometimes we forget this is his 8th regular season game, 6 from 2022 season, not including 2 wins from the playoff. On the Yahoo Sport page, under the 9ers team roster, He is labeled a "Rookie" who hasn't played a full season games yet. What he has done with the 9ers is amazing.
JT o Sullivan that used to play for the 49ers???
Fantastic. Great analysis Coach
Love the content
Supreme content as always. Thanks a lot JT
I’m not gonna knock Brock for the missed throws. Dude is still in his first season in reality. 2nd game coming back from surgery. The part of the game the niners need from him is to make the sure passes, don’t play hero ball, and don’t turn the ball over. The defense is rock solid. Receivers can run. Running back can run. Coach can coach.
On the 2nd big miss, it somewhat look like it was his 4th read. Quite something.
Thanks for the breakdown!!!
Great content, i was waiting for a qb to touch on those long throws.
Besides that, Purdy has been great, he's such an excellent processor and very decisive.
I love your show and I love you. You give such detail insights about what is happening in the plays on the failure or success of the QB and front line.....
I didn’t check every clip but it looked to me like there was pressure coming down the middle from the big boys on pretty much every play. That’s why you saw so many instances of shading to a side, fade away throws, and hits after he released the ball.
Not making excuses but I don’t think that helped on the deep ball misses.
That's what I saw too. If his misses were coming from entirely clean pockets, it'd be more concerning. Then again, the pocket's not gonna be clean against some of the better teams, like the Cowpokes.
If you follow the 9ers closely, you would know that the 9ers have a patched-up O-line. They threw away 3 first-round picks to get Lance so they haven't had top picks for premium O-line players for last 3 years.
love the vids bro, keep it up
Difference between him and Lance is the footwork. Tomorrow he will be better and underthrow some of these deep balls. Love this breakdown
More than footwork. Lance couldn't read defense so he tended to hold a ball too long, very indecisive. He also had problem making short range throws (in training camp, his completion rate for short pass was 50%) which is bread and butter in the Shanahan's offense system. Not an accurate passer.
@@weilingaby3029 all comes down to footwork and he also had little feel of the pocket. He’d pull the ball down and boom he’s out of throwing position. Given enough reps and time he’d be better prepared. But he’ll be better in Dallas and I wish him well
Yes! The video I've been waiting for
Poise and anticipation in his throws are just so impressive. Dude doesn't get rattled even against better defenses like Dallas.
I just found this channel recently and love it. Great video as always🤘🏼
Welcome aboard!
Only week 2 and I already look forward to the Purdy breakdown every week. Thanks for the content
The good thing is, Brock knows exactly what he needs to do to fix it. And I am sure, as the season goes on and our line gets better, Brock is gonna be dropping dimes down field. That kid amazes me, the way he takes credit for mistakes and thrives to be better... for his team.
Been loving your videos. Really learning a lot. I'm a falcons fan and was hoping to see a Ridder video. You haven't done any of his regular season games yet and I'm curious if there's been improvement in your eyes
Been waiting for this one
I wish that all of these fans would watch your video. You would think the sky is falling.
He missed a few. He missed deep. At least it shows that he has a bigger arm than most think.
Like you said at the end, just who he is as a player and a person, I don’t think he’s someone who’s not going to correct the flaws in his deep game. They’re not intrinsic; they’re just another mile marker on the road to Canton.
Great videos as always JT, cant wait for the break down of Purdy vs the Giants.
26:16-27:15 is music to my ears as a 9er fan. Thank you for your analysis JT. Hope all is well for you.
He’ll get those deep throws in the future.
He’s bound to miss and make a mistake here and there, but he’s young. He’ll study and adjust. He plays like a veteran, but he’s started less than ten games.
The right side of the OLine is clearly the weakest link.
Thats where i see defenses going to key in on and see at the very least if they can disrupt Purdy's base and make his throw and lil more inaccurate.
That's why you don't see a lot of Kittle's action this season so far at least. He has been used primarily as a blocker to help the right side, the weak link. And added to the top of it, Kittle is not 100% healthy but some 9ers fan said that Kittle has never been 100% healthy🤣
3:04 Calm as #99 AD is about to kill him, kid is ice cold.
Purdy🐐 = 🐐
Been a 49ers fan for 45 years and seen some great QB play throughout the years. Brock Purdue shows tremendous poise and anticipation for a young QB who’s still only started under 10 games. He has good vision down the field making his reads and his escapability/speed when in harms way in the pocket is under estimated. Although most negative noise about Purdy is his lack of arm strength and throwing the deep ball (missed 3 this game) but he’s not under throwing receivers or as JT would say “not enough club”. Hopefully it’s just a timing issue early on in the season and he can start connecting on some of those deep throws. Great analysis as always JT.
Look forward to your breakdown ✌
Hard to practice for what you don’t know is a fault until you see it at game speed.
Deep ball something to work on, but I’ll bet he figures it out.
When the slap is crispy you know he’s hyped. You know JT still has a place in his heart for his former niners. Even if we were a hot mess
Just wait this for so looong 🎉
JT, Love your content. Your detailed breakdown of route options and distribution, and QB insights are #bestinclass
Appreciate that
Purdy🐐
Purdy seems to be a victim of his own success. I mean he has played so well, so fast that it’s easy to forget he’s only played what, 11, 12 games. The only thing we can say is he’s a baller, with incredible footwork, sound throwing mechanics, guts, and timing. He’s clearly committed to the craft, and having a few more games under his belt will
Smooth out the deep accuracy. I think it’s a myth that Brock can’t throw deep. Watch his college film. It will come.
I think his success is because he played all 4 years in college iirc. He was a rare find that started in tons of college games and lifted that team up mostly on his own. As a scout I'd feel way more confident recommending Purdy over 90% of other QBs because he had tons of experience and he lifted up a mediocre team and led them where he did. There are 1st round QBs with little more than a season worth of experience that get drafted. It's strange.
15:30 I think it was a play for cmc he turns like he’s expecting the ball to be there and would’ve been a fat chunk play
These are great! Keep ‘em coming! Would love to see one for Watson… I’m assuming a lot of his troubles stem from holding the ball and missed reads, but would love to hear your take!
Man, JT and Baldy really get it.
Nice
Purdy is the REAL DEAL. He will be considered a top 10 QB by end of the year.
Brock Purdy is HIM glad he’s on our team Fr
Around the 15:00 - 16:00 min mark you pointed out the routes going toward the middle of the field. The only thing I can see is McCaffrey on the swing route up the sideline in the future if the niners get the same look from a defense.
Told my sister-in-law when Purdy was drafted that he's going to be the 49ers next QB. Watched him for 4 years playing against my Sooners. Knew his talent, knew his skills. Dude knows what he is doing.
Did his play really stand out that much? I saw highlights of one of his college game he looked amazing but I didnt know if i just thought that because I already knew he was good
Yup I’m a sooner fan myself and one year I thought he was primed to be taken high into the draft and turns out he stayed. Pretty hyped when we drafted him but I never thought he would pan out this way!
@@goldengoat1737well bro if you go back and look at his college tape and think he still looks amazing your eyes most likely aren’t lying to you
Go tell your sister-in-law Brock’s throwing for 400+ yds and 5 TDs tonight
If he was first overall pick, I would be thinking it was well worth it.

come on hat was a brilliant scheme to get cmc wide open like that and you can’t see it
Now granted Purdy missed it too but that’s not by design

Ah the video i been waiting for…
Intro volume is 👌
It is amazing what he is doing with timing having come off major arm surgery and only really getting max number of throws beginning of season. With no off season throwing-timing sessions with receivers, he will only get better.
Pro scouts, here is what you should do next. Ask Purdy to write a list of questions and quiz, from film or just on paper (formation), and use it to evaluate future QB. You wanna find guys that have 75% of what Purdy has coming out of school with the NFL level processing of plays and schemes.
scouting tends to emphisize physical traits since they are easier to measure. from there organizations just kinda hope the QB can develop the mental side of football. Purdy has more of those mental traits (pocket awareness, accuracy, processing) than the physical. Thing is, a qb needs to have the mental aspects to be a good. the physical traits, i'd argue, is more optional. basically it does no good if you're a fast sprinter with a rocket arm if you can't keep from getting intercepted or can't decide where to throw and just get sacked.
Mike McDaniel learned from Kyle Shanahan and left the 49ers to HC the Dolphins. The Dolphins most certainly took the same offense as the 49ers.
Seriously! I was like, wtf is this dude talking about copying from the Miami Dolphins! If anything they think they're us cus of Mike McDaniels 😂
@@cali4920well no they’re sure different now because of Hill and Waddle I’m sure it’s a lot of the same plays but probably more variants added to accommodate for their high end receiver talent definitely cant deny we weren’t putting up these points with Jimmy
I am not sure if Mike McDaniel learned from Kyle Shanahan, sure he has followed Kyle around but it doesn't mean that he doesn't have his own dressings. However, 100%, he learned from Mike Shanahan. Both Kyle and M. McDaniel are direct extensions of Mike Shanahan.
@@Kaylynyang24lol he hasn't worked with Mike Shanahan in over a decade. And he directly followed Kyle around in Houston, Washington (with Mike), Cleveland, Atlanta, and the San Francisco. In none of those places did he ever do OC work until he was with the Niners, and he was responsible for the run plays before he was our OC, not doing any passing concepts. He absolutely learned from Kyle and you're downplaying Kyle's role in his professional development.
Thanks for that info
If we win it this year 🤞🏿 his career would be starting off like Montana and Brady
Thanks for the breakdowns as always!
Kyle is extremely detailed on route running. He will get it fixed.
Brock's feet got slightly happier on longer developing plays. Maybe some of that is confidence in the offensive line, which played much better against the Rams than Steelers. If so, that should also improve as everyone gets more settled in. (McKivitz did have a good game against Donald, as he did last year. Not as good against T.J. Watt.)
And Brock may still be getting used to his repaired arm. It looks stronger than before, but I'm sure it's also a bit different.
Brock understands and uses good fundamentals most of the time (as you noted on the shorter throws). He's a student of the game and will get things corrected.
Please see if he does. :)
Kittle was open a couple times for wide open touchdowns.
I noticed that too. Further along in the progressions though. I'm talking a split second. Based on the pressure, a split second more and it's Brock taking a hit while throwing that TD to Kittle. Idk. Good reads and choices though. Kittle will have his day.
the GOOOOAT, beat tom brady in his first start. passing the torch
I’d like to know JT’s opinion about Brock’s ranking among all NFL QBs. Simms ranks him 26 which makes no sense when i listen to this.
He has Josh Allen at #3 That list seems pretty whak
Fr, like, Josh Allen has been trending downward the last few years. And I'm sorry, but Purdy has shown a processing level and accuracy beyond what a lot of long time vets have shown. Brock is a dang winner. All the kid does is catch Ws and make good decisions. He's a good enough playmaker in his own right to also be able to get shit done when all hell breaks loose from time to time, which is a good luxury
If you want double the views, always review the upcoming TNF QBs. Great video, btw.
I think this is a classic case of never underestimate the fundamentals. Even at the highest level, playing efficient & getting the ball on time is the best way to go.
Are they really stealing plays from the Dolphins Considering Mike McDaniels was their offensive coordinator for years? Great video
No, the content creator, JT, didn't know that McDaniels followed Kyle around for more than 9+ years before being the HC with Dolphins. Some 9ers fan post the fact that McDaniels learned the craft from Kyle.
Really nice breakdown on Purdy, it's crazy how he's played less than a season's worth of games at the NFL level but is constantly doing "the little things" that take some QBs 5 years to figure out. He's really making me think that he's going to be a starting QB in the NFL for a long time. Have you seen anything that makes you think that Purdy is going to regress or that defenses are going to be able to figure him out once there's more tape?
Brock, simply put just understands how to play football.
Brock Purdy.
Kyle mentioned that he was surprised that Purdy even got to JJ in his progressions as he was the last read. Not sure on the design there, but interesting take.
24:00 That’s a throw Alex Smith never makes because it’s “covered.” I love the way this kid plays. Just absolute trust.
Some of Brock's plays are absolutely aggressive and gutsy.
I always thought/heard it was better to overthrow deep, than under throw, to ward off a potential pick. I kind of like the thinking JT says on under throwing just to give the WR a shot, like the Jennings deep throw later in the game
Aiyuk got hurt on the first play when the linebacker landed on him
I think the reason the niners run so many over the middle routes is because our qbs generally aren’t good at throwing outside the numbers. Purdy has done a couple outside the numbers stuff but none of it layering throws over the top, just like curls and comebacks
Let’s goo
Now we need a week 3 review
1 million subs this season? I can feel it
74 is going to get Brock hurt. The right side of the line is the weak link of the team.
I thought Brock played great on Sunday. Certainly, he had his misses that you can't have 3 times in the same game, but keeping in mind that he's playing in just his 2nd game back from massive elbow surgery and they got the win still, it should all be mostly forgotten imo. Can't wait to see what he does tonight back at home for the first time this year 💪🏻
Id love to see u break down josh allen
Watching this after the bears/Justin fields video is like a different show. Lol.
Lifelong 9er fan here, Brock is the reason Trey Lance was traded. Look at his poise in the pocket and his ability to process things and deliver the ball on time, with accuracy and touch. When I saw him in pre-season last year dude looked like a 5 year vet. Of course he doesn't have the strongest arm, but he does all the things you'd want from your QB. And, he's doing it in year 2! I love his potential!!
Please do Stanford after this
I get letting your guy make a play. But overthrowing seems more safe and something that can be improved easier than under throwing. What’s your take?
I dissgree
Could be wrong but it appears his base is a bit too wide and back foot looks like it’s outside his frame. Great for balance but not ideal for getting the most velocity out of the ball. When I started narrowing my base and putting most of my weight on my back foot when loading, it really allowed me to torque my hips even more and the power was significantly better, motion was quicker, not to mention puts a lot less strain on my arm. Luckily my upper half always had a short compact motion similar to Aaron Rodgers but focusing on the base led to a lot more zip and improved accuracy. I know I’m no professional but a lot of new school qb coaches would echo what I’m saying because that’s where I got the tip from and man did it work! Lol. Love me some Brock Purdy and I’m thinking his “arm strength” will keep getting better.🙌🏼
