Fun fact: Burlesque was going to get its own Broadway musical. They announced it in 2019 with plans for launch in 2021. Obviously, the pandemic ruined that but I still hope it happens! Would be such a great show

There's never been a movie or show that had Tucci in it that he didn't immediately elevate the whole production.
His family banter in Easy A is one of my favorite of his performances. He isn't in it a whole lot, but he steals every scene he's in.

Jack was the one that gave her the emotional connection she needed and freedom to be herself. Marcus was the materialistic gift giver and while he wasn’t necessarily a bad guy, he liked her because of her voice and that she became the start. Jack loved her from pretty much from first sight. ❤️

@@19Rena96 Well....in a way he did in an idiotic man way XD he did tell her on the phone that basically waiting around for her wasn't his future and that he was looking at his future at the moment (Ali from across the room). It was a voice-mail since it was obvious Natalie never answered his calls much and only called when convenient for her. She probably never really heard the voicemail he left while he was at the wedding. Doesnt justify cheating but alas...he probably honestly thought Natalie would never be coming back hahaha

Also important to note that she doesn’t just belt- her ability to change technique to a jazzier texture in “I am a good girl” is phenomenal!

Facts, the production quality compare most of musical movies, plus insane original music too. Should've won Grammy as well.
When I first saw this movie I was even more impressed with Christina because I felt she did even more vocally then I felt she ever did before.
This movie made me a fan of Christina. I never knew she could like this. Her pop music does a really poor job of showcasing her voice. It was funny because I thought the opening number was a voice over when I first watched this so it wasn't until she sang tough lover and my jaw hit the floor that the power of her voice really hit me.

I just wished they’d let Kirsten Bell’s character nicky sing because she’s insanely talented too. She was created as a weird angry secondary character, where they started to flesh her out but stopped? Like if you’re going to make Nicky the previous ‘stare’, at least show is why she ran the roost 😂 the odd fleeting number doesn’t really well it lmao.
But she has the voice of a Disney princess...JK! but I was really shocked when I found out that she's Anna. I was like, why didn't she have a singing part in Burlesque?

Christina beat the "curse of Disney" and went on to deliver a voice full of soul and strength. I have always loved Cher, who has never had a conventional voice, but has the ability to pull people to her and has always been inclusive to everyone. She is the epitome of a true performer.
Hannah: "I stopped breathing" Me: "I know right!?" I had the same reaction when she belted out that first line and it still happens to me like 90% of the time when I watch this film. I love it!
My best friend recently got into burlesque, and her stage name is "Little Death", I love her very much. (Yes, she's a former funeral home worker, and yes she's french)

Cher's "you haven't seen the last of me" is my favourite moment from the movie and throughout the entire video I couldn't wait to get to it! It's just so powerful..
If you check out Christina's album, Back to Basics, it really dives into the her soul centre of her love of the blues and jazz (opening number for this movie was none other than her fav: Etta James). Burlesque shows a lot of her love of that style of music in a musical movie which is also perfect for Cher's lower and yet powerhouse register!!!
This is honestly my "feel good movie", I always go back to this movie because I know it by heart and love every second of it

"Can you believe i never watched this movie?" CAN NOT, HANNAH! This is such a masterpiece, how did you bear letting it pass by till now! Buuuut it was really enjoyable to watch you discover the Greatness that is Burlesque!
This is by far one of my favorite human musicals. I especially love the last song. I didn't see the movie until 2018. And before that I'd never heard of it.

Cher and xtina are both amazing in this movie. I love Kristen Bell as the mean girl. It is a shame she didn't get to sing, though. Her voice is so bright and different compared to Christina and Cher, it would have been a wonderful contrast. Especially if Kristen and Christina did a vocal battle on the stage.
On another note, You should do a reaction to Diana Ankudinova if you want to hear another contralto. You'll be amazingly shocked by her control and rich voice.
My mom had me and my sister watch it, and I was not expecting bell to play a character as she did, but its a nice change from the innocent characters shes played before

11:50 Georgina, the pregnant girl, is played by Julianne Hough, professional dancer - occasional actress. Been a dancer and judge on Dancing with the Stars for a looong time. I don't remember the cast list, but can guarantee you she had a hand in choreo/training. :)

I saw this in theaters with my mom and the whole audience was a mix of millennials like me there for Christina and women in their sixties or so there for Cher. And we all had a great time.
The first time I saw this movie at the theater, i walked straight out of the theater and into the beauty supply store across the hall and bought several eyeliners and have worn it everyday since. I loved the makeup in this movie as much as the singing & dancing!!! 😂
I wish they would put this on Broadway!!! This would be sweeping Tony’s and showcasing some amazing stars!!! Cher could reprise her role for a short run discover some new stars!
They were going to, actually! It was set to start in 2021. However, the pandemic halted the plans indefinitely, unfortunately 😕

I watch this movie at least once a year. It is such a hidden gem and the cast are A+++ massive guilty pleasure movie.
I LOVE Burlesque. The dance routines, the songs, costumes it's all so good! I'd have preferred a no romance angle tbh but that's my only complaint 😅
I like the romance here, it's not iver the top and her relationships with tess who becomes kind of a mother for her and the dancers/club staff becoming her family, her place to belong? Just great!
I love Burlesque too!! I started having mixed feelings about Aly and Jack the more I watch it as an adult. I just sorta feel like Jack got off the hook WAY too easily at the end lmao. Other than that, still a great movie! 😆❤️🖤

Cher and Christina in one movie is absolutely killer. They are absolutely amazing and were the best casting option for the characters they play i honestly cant imagine anyone else playing Allie and Tess. They are icons and have such killer vocals.
I was like 11 when I watched this movie for the first time and the chokehold it had and still has on me is crazy. This movie is so iconic and it deserved more recognition.

I have adored this movie since the first time I saw it just after it was released. I watch it at least 4 times a year and I just cannot sit still 😊 Christina is magnificent and Cher is Cher, you don't need to say anymore. Stanley Tucci is rhe most wonderful, loving, funny, warm presence and is PERFECT for the role. The costumea, the choreo, the music, the "good guys win" ending. I just LOVE it so much
I took Burlesque dance classes for about 5 years, my stage name was Scarlett Fever :) And I SO CONDONE you trying Burlesque! It is so empowering and fun that learning sexy dance moves is just a bonus

I totally understand the cringe-factor to the dialogue and writing but my friends and I love this movie. It is such an iconic girls night movie. It makes me sing, it makes me smile, and it makes me dance. That is plenty for me. Also, Cher and Christina? They could make just about anything and I will watch just to hear them sing.

I saw this one in theaters, more than once, and I don't regret the money! There's nothing like having the entire room filled with sound as you watch Christina and Cher on a giant screen.

This is one of my absolute favourite movies, I've always loved Christina and have always loved singing her songs, to the point I'm the only one who will sing her songs at karaoke. I love singing "Somethings got a hold on me" "welcome to burlesque" "bound to you" and "haven't seen the last of me" and if my Karaoke host has it I'd LOVE to sing "Show me how you burlesque" I can actually do the runs that she does and it always shocks the people at the bar. It's one of the best movie/musical scores to sing ❤
I feel a big part of the industry is so jealous of Christina. She doesn’t get enough recognition (not that she needs it but we fighters would love that). Her legacy will remaln among us forever.

Oh my god I'm so glad you watched this!!!!! Burlesque is one of my top two comfort movies (the other one is Legally Blonde), I've seen it literally dozens of times. The costumes, makeup and dancing is gorgeous and let's not even TALK about the music!! Christina is the queen, but Cher is the Empress. I'm so happy you had a great time with this movie! :D when I listen to this with headphones on the music never fails to give me goosebumps, it is SO good.
....so good that I even accept the lackluster love interest. xD Honestly, the movie is perfectly fine if shest with neither of the guys at the end. (Now, Ali being cuckoo for Coco on the other hand.... XD never forget who drew her into the club in the first place)
my comfort movies are burlesque and mama mia. I saw mama mia as a movie when I was severely depressed and the effect was so good that my then husband bought the dvd the moment it came out. oh the power of music.

I have loved this movie from the start! I'm at that age where I grew up with Cher and Christina, being 48. I also was always in chorus for my whole 12 years and the vocal ensemble for 3. I love listening to these soundtracks just to make me want to work harder with voice.

I found this movie by accident when it was on Netflix. It came on after something else I had been watching. I paused it and checked the credits. When I saw it had Cher I clicked play and gave it a chance. I was about to return to the menu when the opening number started with Christina singing alone in the closed bar. At the time I had no idea who Christina was. After that I just sat back and enjoyed the musical numbers. As a movie I wouldn't rate it very high for the story line, but the performances of Cher and Christina pushed it over the top for me. Wish they would have put in one more song for Cher. View from a 66 year old.
