A few years back, ASUS was pretty good with their RMAs for monitors. I dropped a monitor mount screw in mine and it killed a collomn of pixels. Even though I bought it certified refurbished, I luckily got it replaced for free during the warranty period. It was 24" 180hz 1080p that went bad. Had a monitor that was having trouble turning on (pg27uq).

Cost 4K when I got it and was having issues under warranty so decided to try my luck with RMA.
They sent me a firmware to flash to it which made no difference so then got me to send it in.
Charged me $1000 claiming an unauthorized firmware damaged the fpga. (The one they sent me and told me to flash)
Got it back still had the same issue. Decided to open it up and it was a 5min fix. 3 of the 4 fuses had cracked solder)

3:00 +- Australian here, long time ASUS customer & user.
I can't comment on America or Canada, never been there, but in Australia, ASUS make and sell pretty good equipment. I've owned several. But their importer / agent / national rep, is a disgrace, and the issue reported by G-Nexus ~ that'd be pretty typical here. I had a circus about a faulty motherboard in 2011, I think, and it went a lot like that. Don't pay for or walk out of the shop with anything you have not seen running. Don't walk out of the shop without a full and correct receipt and warranty papers. I know that's a pain when you just want to get home and plug it in, but ... make real sure you can bring it back and get a replacement if something's wrong, meaning make sure you have the paperwork to do that.
The issue is usually not the computer shop ~ the issue is the national company representative / agent / importer.

Asus is one of those brands that I haven't trusted in years. At one point their Proart 4080 was $100 above MSRP, which was pretty typical, but their OC variant was almost $150 more than that and it was maybe a 3% boost which was insane because it was using an identical cooler and board just with an overclock.
I've bought a few things from them over the years and I find more often than not, they're about middle of the pack in most ways.
I think my worst experience with them though, was when I was working on a friend's laptop that was having issues. I had intended to swap an SSD and repaste it. I did this pretty frequently at the time, but this one died when I opened the damn thing. It had a daughter board that controlled the power intake and when you opened it up, if the screw closest to it in the chassis touched it the entire board would short because there was no surge protection between the mother and daughter boards.
Just overall they make bad choices.

I've used Asus boards on and off over the years. My newest AMD based system is just over a year old, and the service from Asus has been terrible on all fronts. If the bios is updated with any newer v0922 (Feb 2023), Win 11 will not come out of sleep mode, you have to hard power off and cold boot. They made jump through some many hoops, including an RMA of my board which had nothing wrong with it. I had to pay shipping which now costs an arm and a leg. Not sure who I would switch to, had grief with both Gigabyte and MSI.

I have a bunch of Asus stuff, from pc parts to peripherals. A month ago i sent back my VG249Q monitor for dead pixels.
The monitor had a 3 year warranty, i was 1 year in when i noticed the dead pixels, rolled with it for another year and now i sent it back.
I read their monitor warranty terms if it applies to my case and it did (at least 3 black/white dead pixels in a 1cm square), sent it back, they replaced the LCD panel and it's working flawless sincen no extra cost or problem with the service.
I'm in europe so i don't know if asus itself fixed it or a partner of theirs did but after this whole thing i hope none of my other stuff breaks.

Really not sure I like this direction for AMD. It might be great for people that buy cheaper laptops or PC's without dedicated graphics, but most enthusiast gamers will usually replace their GPU at least once or twice over the lifespan of their CPU. Between this focus on APU's and AMD supposedly considering giving up their discrete GPU business either in part or entirely, that might leave enthusiast gamers no choice but to go Intel / Nvidia.

Let's just mention the ASUS motherboards are a mixed bag as if they are coming out of different factories. A low end workstation platform MB was plain terrible for i7 5820K, while a midrange gaming platform MB is rock solid and works flawlessly with 13600KF.

Lenovo said they need to change the motherboard and that cost half the price of my laptop and for sony needs to change the frame and will cost half the price of my phone. The only good service that I've experienced was samsung replaced my battery and I never asked for a single dime.

I compare features and compromises when looking to buy motherboards now. Not a single Asus one used all the chipset potential nor without compromises. So I'm running msi. My last asus board was the last one just replaced last July, a rog strix z270f. The last times Asus made what I thought was an actual special board was the p3v4x that I had back in the day and also the a7v333 with promise raid on it. That period was their best to me really.

Sucks to hear they got too big for their own good. This seems to be a trend with a lot of companies that started with a good reputation and than lose sight of what made them great in the first place. Corporate greed and crummy warranty process is the new norm. I'm glad people spoke out. ASUS seems to be taking accountability.

When I started building computers for myself, family, and friends, I used ASUS motherboards which were great. Then after about 8 years of building, I got one that was dead out of the box. I called ASUS and got the royal run around and they wanted me to send them copies of my receipt and told me over the phone that I probably damaged it. They wanted me to send it to them on my dime and they would decide if I did something to it or not. After I hung up, I took it back to the store and got an ASRock. I have never gotten anything from ASUS since, and that was over 10 years ago.

I used to work in a computer shop and particularly liked the ASUS motherboards at the time. And then after a few years the boards quite suddenly started having issues and I had to RMA quite a few. Luckily I could send them back to my supplier so I didn't have to deal with ASUS directly. But after a while it was too much of a hassle and I stopped buying them. I don't work there anymore now but I haven't bought any ASUS product since.
