How do they not know how to put the car in neutral? You literally push the gear selector up and hold the unlock button with the ignition on and it will put the car in neutral.

It might be an electronic handbrake. It comes on automatically in some situations, including opening a door. Sometimes if the engine or electronics then die, it can't be released again without servicing it.

@@Mike_221BMW in their infinite wisdom made their recent auto box controls entirely electronic and to add to the fun you can't put the gearbox in neutral anyway unless the engine is running. No, me neither. Apparently its a "safety" feature and the only way to engage neutral if the electronics are fried and/or the engine won't start is some pin in the side of the transmission underneath the car. The method you mentioned doesn't work in the latest models.

@@neilrobertson811 There’s a tool in the car to put it in neutral. There’s a slot somewhere near the gear selector to put it in to get the car in neutral.

@@neilrobertson811 Incorrect. You can put all models into neutral without the engine running. Even the new ones with the little flip switch gear selectors. Why would a car company design a car where you can only put it into neutral with the engine running. Say what you want about BMW engineers, but they're not that stupid. The only time you need to use the mechanical release under the body is when you have a dead battery.
      Eg. here's a copy paste from a 2024 manual.
      Electronic unlocking of the
      transmission lock
      General information
Unlock the transmission lock electronically, e.g., to maneuver the vehicle out of a
hazardous area in the event of a malfunction.
Before unlocking the transmission lock, secure
the vehicle against rolling away, for instance
      with a wheel chock.
      Engaging selector lever position N
      1. Quickly press the Start/Stop button three
times without stepping on the brake.
      2. Depress the brake pedal.
      3. Press the selector lever to position N.
An appropriate Check Control message is
      displayed.
Position N is indicated on the selector lever.
      4. Maneuver the vehicle from the hazardous
area and secure it against rolling away.

nothing to do with it. more likely to do with air intake being quite high..
looking at images the 107 is fairly tall for a little car and the intake is high and toward the back of the engine bay - quite a bit higher than the grill.. surprisingly so... I would go as far as say this series is one of the least likely to suffer engine damage due to ford/flood...

The 107/Aygo/C1's all have the same Toyota engine in them, which is why they all do well in deep water as its got a high intake position.
The newer 108 was also a 1L Toyota engine but have been discontinued and Peugeot's parent company have bought out Fiat, so any new Peugeot city car will possibly be a Fiat engine, if they don't just make a copy of the Fiat 500 E/V

After heavy rainfall the roads can flood. Either the alternative route is very long, or doesn't exist at all. Some drivers don't understand how to drive through properly and that cars and water don't mix well. It's mostly about the height of your air intake
