- So...as I've said, here's a small...bite-size format, to make you guys wait while I cook up the next Ignorant Stohory. It's still taking a long time, but this was...pretty fun to do and WAY lighter on the editing.
And this time, it talks about the effect of typos in Touhou games!

As a programmer, I can understand the pain. A simple misplaced character here or there can wreck an entire program.
I'm more into automation, but I get your pain as well.
Getting a single thing wrong in a script can mess up your entire work. Well...until you try to debug it.

this kind of slip up is harder to avoid when you dont have a big team of playtester that can somtimes even miss it too. im surprised he has less error than i thought working on the game mostly independent.
I actually like this format, it's short and informative. Also you never think about ZUN such simple mistakes but here they are, typos!

Doremy's first nonspell on Lunatic has a typo, which is why all of the even waves are insane.
From what I understand it was a misplaced decimal that makes the rotation spin too fast or something. But it only happens on the even waves and not the odd waves. Which leads people to believe it's a mistake. Especially when this isn't the case on hard mode and lower.
Didn't know about this one! I guess this is what I get for not playing with a higher difficulty than hard. :p
But in all honestly, if this is really a mistake, then it's one that forces you to use a bomb, which in a lunatic playthrough, can still be a lifesaver. It's not as bad as...let's say, destroy the entire game, but it's still very interesting to know!
Now just imagine if this was intentional, after all we're in "Legacy of LUNATIC Kingdom".
@@Surnist Yeah it only hurts if you're doing LNB/LNNs cuz it serves as another filter.

Well, gotta say that I am happy that I stumbled upon this channel. Most Touhou channels are either gameplay replays, music, or humor with a lore channel here or there. Seeing one that explore the gameplay mechanics themselves with its own hint of background humor is quite nice to watch. Keep it up, you cover a really nice niche here.

The damage cap mechanic used in recent games was actually introduced in DDC, it generally doesn't work very well since it's max damage per frame instead of max damage per second or something like that (just look how broken ReimuA and SakuyaA are anyway). Fun fact: in ISC, damage cap is set to 10000 to account for massive damage the mallet item does instantly.
I also vaguely recall SA ReimuA having a minor typo with one of the power levels having bullets that literally do 0 damage (or much lower than they're supposed to, not sure), but it's actually not very noticeable

It's interesting, I didn't check DDC when looking up values so I wasn't aware it was introduced back then.
Then again, it makes sense. The engine was improved at that point (though it should have been in TD if we follow this logic) so integrating such a mechanic to prevent the game from breaking too much is a good idea.
Though...yeah as you said it doesn't work as well as intended, but for WBwAC...it sort of does with all of the roaring mode shots that would go way past 160 if not capped. (Aside from the otter of course.)
And you're right for SA, I just checked that!
The damage counter for a shooter is a 0 whether focused or unfocused. Though I guess no one noticed it since you rarely get to stay at 2.00 power and the other one that you get still do es more damage than before so...

It's a bug in a fangame, but in Concealed the Conclusion, one time i died my last life at the same moment Eiki appeared on screen and i revived with no bomb refeal. Then i died because it was a bad run to have 0 lifes at the third boss and i died normally

The fact that there's a great deal of probability of people that didn't know about this is....
Well, let's say even 10% of the views (assuming full "new views") which, at 02/18/2020 5:49pm is ~11K, did not know why this happens.
That's at least 1,100 different new people that have learned something damn new.
There's very many people that play Touhou and have never seen this video as of yet.
There's even more people that mildly interest themselves in Touhou but have big interests somewhere else, and learning something "neet"-o may have very well drew their energy signatures to a frequency of desiring to play Touhou more often, adding more interest to this gem of a series, adding to greater and greater desire for better and better - mayhaps even financial contributions to ZUN himself in the venture of his making Touhou games possible (blees💙).
If you may not(ed*) so kindly not share this video and keep the world at the same frequency it has been. It will not be appreciated but all things in its place and a place there is for everything itself alone, let alone everything.

i've always thought that marisa was the faster and stronger character but who knows, in some of the games reimuA can be a beast because of her homing shots

When I played it only happened when I was between 3.85 and 3.95 power, so it was kinda hard because you also had to dodge the red power things so you don't get to 4 power
Lol, just bomb when you get to four. One of the perks of the weird bomb system in 10 and 11.

Reimu Eagle is perfectly fine, it's Youmu Eagle that has a weak shot type because of a typo.
