- Three weeks after Linfield Christian QB Alex Ruiz had surgery in 2017 in attempt to repair his leg after a horrific tackle, Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller suffered a similar injury vs. the New Orleans Saints. While Ruiz tries to cope with amputation, it's the NFL star who needs to lean on the struggling high school QB. Saints QB Drew Brees narrates the inspiration tale of The Brotherhood.

His coach needs an award or something.. I've played ball and all through my times of playing I've never seen a coach that cares this much about his players... I give him coach of the year.....
I'd say more of an icon Coach. I imagine he has a great connection with ALL of his players, not just one of them. He does this Every Year as he coaches young boys into men with a strong work ethic and good moral values. Too ALL the young men he has taught, for however number of years he has coached at the school.
coach burns was amazin, even though i didnt go to his school i trained with him and we grew a connection. hes one of the best
I know that coach amazing man for sure
My coach just makes us run
Most coaches only care this much about star players
Are you kidding me. He threw a touchdown after everything he’s been through. Tears.
First play back through a touchdown pass, he has potential
Everything happens for a reason for sure
Man threw a dot too
Right! I woke up this morning not feeling my best and then I saw this video while sitting down to work form home......this was the universe's way of telling me to STFU and get on with it. Great story. Very inspirational.
He didn't get his arm amputated!! It was staged anyway!!!
He really threw a touchdown on his senior night after everything he went through. You cant write a better movie
This needs to be a movie frrr
I’m not a sucker for feel good quotes but “tough times don’t last, tough people do” sounds real good...
He probably searched it on google before send the message

Much respect to the coach. He seems like a really great coach and man
jason Lang absolutely - u can tell he has a true love for the sport and for his players
Bella Rhoneesha so true I agree he's a good man treats all his ballplayers like their his own sons! God bless that man!!
Doug Evans Absolutely !

Same. Great coach.
We aren’t gonna talk about how an nfl player would be so nice and connected to a random high school stupid mega respect for zach
Yes! My thoughts exactly! And he didn't brag about it either. I never heard of this story until right now.
I got say, I was so moved by the coach when he said, “At that moment, it was my child”. That head coach is the kind of coach every kid needs. What an awesome man. Keep pushing kid, your determination and fight will take you places.
Landon The Bot thats what coach burns said, and its true. he treats every player like their his kids. one of the best coaches ive had the pleasure of learning from.
Children should all be in competitive sports, they learn a lot of things, especially a child that has seperated parents or the father is not around, imparative imo.
tear jerker- that's a coach Id want my kids to play for.
“I told you coming back would be worth it, We got you bro. Good stuff.”
I was. 🥺
That part made my eyes drip a clear fluid
that got me. the realest part

Oh god that one almost got me I had to play it back
“i told you coming back would be worth it bro. we got you” had me SENT
Full on tears
And snot 😭😭😭😭
He may have lost his leg, but in return he developed tenacity, drive, determination and respect. This was beyond the most powerful happy ending stories I've seen in 65 years. Godspeed son.
Coaches dont realize how important they are in a young mans life
this coach did
Absolutely! I’m 34 years old and I still remember lessons learned from my high school cross country coach.
I was the 100 like
bob barker Some of us do...and we take it very seriously ‘cause we know we’re building our future and we try very hard to lead by example. 😁
My childhood coach wasnt lmao, he was horrible for the young men to be around including me
when the coach was hugging him the tears came flowing out. you can tell he saw the boy as his son
It was hard to watch him cry.
Im being sarcastic ...... but there is so much racism in this world.
That display brought sadness and pain to me...genujnely. but, it was beautiful.
@@robertmason7553 Sad to say it's true, especially after witnessing that. There are people out there that will paint that boy a Nazi or racist, without ever knowing this relationship.
People out there that will see this coach as some inferior buffoon, never knowing his love for that kid.
Good thing, racism in America is a dwindling phenomenon, on life support. Kept alive only by the persistence of those that see a path to power through racial division.
Yes and the coach repeatedly tells him that he loves him...color,race whatever people call it...Hey it exist but it DOESN'T EXIST. God is good y'all
As a Bear fan i never knew this actually happened. That's extremely awesome for Zack Miller to do something like that to even to someone who wasn't a fan of the Bears. He's truly a great guy!
Double doink, I'm srry but this is wholesome isnt it
@@Jack-dv1px yeah for you it isnt doesnt mean its not for others
It sure shows character!!!! Very good man.

Props to that coach. That is a good leader. A good role model
I've got so much respect for Zach Miller and Drew Brees. Two classy guys.

Man I felt this on an entirely different level. I was being scouted, had 3 offers for college ball. My Junior year I fractured my T1 vertebrae (neck). Was in a wheelchair for almost 4 months. Wasn’t able to play anymore..Since then I’ve fully recovered, and just enjoyed my 20th birthday. Thank you for making this, made me reflect on how amazing this brotherhood really is.

I can see the headlines "BASED ON A TRUE STORY" Someone needs to make this a movie. So powerful
@Mute Pepe No need to capitalize. They could use the money for good. Maybe to help people who have been in the same situation
@Mute Pepe it'd honestly be a good movie for everyone to watch and be an inspiration for people who lost the drive to do what they want due to a similar incident. While CZcams is great for spreading stuff to people, a movie would make it timeless and be a motivator probably for decades.
I broke my femur in half when i was 7 years old playing football, I’m blessed to be able to walk to this day , I’m now 20
exactly how in the world did you break your femur when you were 7 yrs old? Thank god you are okay now, man.
Spazeman Spiff on kickoff biggest kid on the team hit me in the side of my leg & i lost the ball and it got stuck under my leg straight up and down & the whole team piled on top of me , snapped straight in half .
Just hearing his teammates and coach gets me so emotional watching this. They are so supportive and truly love and care for one another. Then adding his friendship with Drew and how it began and grew is so cool.

I'm relatively new to American Football (or Football in the US!). Being from the UK I often, wrongly, turned a blind eye to it. Stories like this shows me that the brotherhood and connection of the team goes far beyond anything I've ever seen in amateur and professional sports. I'm sat here, a grown man, crying my eyes out at this incredible story. Well done Alex, well done Zach, and thank you to ESPN and SC for bringing this incredible story to life.
All love. Jake.
New Orleans saint's should draft him on a one day contract so he can be a official NO saint's player

Man! Can we talk about how hard this young man worked?!! Incredible!! What an inspiration for anyone whose lost a limb. Kudos to everyone who was there for him.
Whewwww I got goosebumps seeing him get back on that field. “WE GOT YOU BRO.. YOU’RE STUCK” 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽
i cant imagine what the guy who tackled him feels like🤕
At one of my school’s rival schools, a football player was injured during practice and spent two months in a coma. He still uses a wheelchair and will never again be the way he was before the accident. I feel bad for him, for his family, but most of all, I feel bad for the guy who hit him. I don’t know how you can live with yourself after that.
He guarantee feels shitty but it’s how it is in physical sports. We who participate in this sport know the dangers and all that could happen.
Lanie Jean you should have asked him
It’s your job yeah you feel bad, but getting the tackle was your job. And you can’t feel bad for yourself for doing your job, unless your a storm trooper or some shit like that😂
That’s why football is a horrible sport ruins lives
What really choked me up was watching the love & compassion the head coach shows for Alex. I've never seen a coach open his heart like this coach does so my hats off for the head coach. I wish all coach's cared as much as he does and I'm sure it meant a lot to Alex. He's a real coach.
I had a coach in Pop Warner who was a marine who was really tough on the outside, but was like a marshmallow in the inside. When I moved to another city he lived down the street and I would visit him and we would talk about things in life and of course football
You Can tell how amazing this coach is. It is like a father-son connection, god bless him and Alex.
Love this story. Love he was able to get on the field for his last HS game
It must be so hard to be a teenager and have to have your leg amputated. Alex is brave.
This would make a great movie
You have Jacob Rainey who has the same story.
Yeah
Wow my most likes ever thx

This puts tears in my eyes, amazing people for treating him like that, getting nfl players, teammates sticking up for him, coaches. Couldn’t be more proud of humanity
And I’m here complaining about soreness in my legs.
Much respect my guy.
The way I gasped when they showed the leg breaking.. bro
I just couldn't look at when Alex broke his leg; it was too much like what happened to Joe Theismann all those years ago on Monday night football.
That made my knees feel wired and almost give out in the middle of a crosswalk
@Munro McLaren it’s like the most important part
Half of the other team runs off with their hands on their heads because of how terrible it was. That’s when you really know it’s bad
