- Malachi Coleman overcame a difficult past in the foster care system to become one of the nation's best high school football players. He's now the top recruit for the University of Nebraska's football team, and he's giving back to foster kids in his community through his nonprofit Fly Like Chi. Malachi, along with his foster parents Craig and Miranda, share his incredible story, and Kelly surprises them with a huge donation to Fly Like Chi with the help of Dude Wipes!

What an inspiring young man. When we lived in Nebraska we fostered several children and had the opportunity to adopt three. I know Malachi's parents are very proud of him, heck the whole state of Nebraska is proud of this young man.

His sister is blessed to have him looking out for her his whole life, I can't imagine how strong their bond must be. Two kids to go through such hardships together. Wish I was young enough to watch them grow old. Someone watch them for me and look up to the sky and tell me about it.

I've seen this young man's story before, but it was before he started his nonprofit. What a great human he's growing into. So thankful these wonderful people were picked by whoever to be their parents. The world is their oyster!!! I love this!

This had me in tears. What he said about possibly not being there is something that definitely could have happened but you fought and he took care of his sister and I can't even fathom how hard it was to learn to trust. The favors for people in public thing is used for a lot I have a agoraphobia meaning going to the store is torture I'm terrified and my therapist said when you're out compliment or help to people and I started doing it and I started to notice that I wasn't as afraid but still agoraphobic but you start to see people's reactions to just small things and it shifts how you are feeling. I can't wait to see him playing because to be wanted by that many schools he's obviously very talented. When Mama started crying over the donation that was it for me I was lost.

I Iove this comment. You cheer for the Hawkeyes, yet you recognize the great young people on opposing teams. The Huskers and Hawkeyes are supposed to dislike each other according to the sports media. For you to recognize the great things that any young man can achieve, no matter the team he plays for is awesome! Much respect to you. The fact that the Hawkeye fans do the wave to the children in the nearby hospital after the first quarter, is one of the best traditions out there. I’m a Husker fan that doesn’t hate other teams. Respect to all the Big Ten schools.

My sister and brother in law are also a blended family. After trying for their own for 10+ years they adopt their son at 5 days old and three years later they adopted his half sister at 3 days old. They have other half siblings. 4-5 of them are with their grandma and 4-5 are adopted to other family’s. My sister and BIL have made it a point to connect them (as long as it’s a healthy situation).

Kelly using her platform to elevate the stories of others like Malachi is one of the things I absolutely love and respect about her. In a former life, I was a coach and an arts educator. What Kelly said about arts and athletics being just as important as academics in schools is spot on. There were so many students I worked with in my 10 years in the classroom that were like Malachi, who felt like nobody saw them, or cared about them, or loved them, and whether it was performing arts, visual arts, athletics, or other co-curricular activities, them having an outlet where they could be their authentic selves and be recognized for it was so powerful and transformational in those students' lives. Never underestimate the affect you can have on someone just by being kind and showing someone love and respect. 🤍

Not for nothing, beautiful story, that being said everyone on that stage is successful and multimillionaires. They could have done better than 15k even tho it’s a nice gesture it’s more of an advertisement for their own company at that point. This kid been through trash and made treasure from it, he deserves a fresh start in every way. I wish the lord would let me hit the lotto so I can actually help people and not just become a broke crackhead in a few years
