I remember at my high school. I was a corner back. And this girl made the varsity team as a wide out on varsity. . Her first practice of the school year, or qb threw her the ball on a curl route. She caught it, but didn't see me, a 6ft 1in 200 pound man, coming in at a full sprint laying my shoulder into her chest. Completely demolished her. End result was a severe concussion, and pretty much out of sports for the rest of the year. Then we got married 4 years later and had a little boy last year. Good times.

They should make a movie like that. Have it start showing her as a kid, how tough she is and her struggle to get recognition. Then showing her work hard on sprints, route drills, catching drills. Then her trying out for the team and it shows the coaches talking about her and making the decision to keep her on the team as a starting wr. And finally it shows this play happening from all the different angles, giving the viewers as much perspective as possible, before everything just going dark. Movie over. Don't explain anything to the audience, let them draw their own conclusions.

She has a lot of heart. I remember playing basketball in an all boys league. I wasn't the best but my coach saw a lot of heart in me. He put me in to start a couple of times and the usual starter was so happy for me and gave me a high five each time. I remember making my first shot and then go down court defense and I intercepted a pass and passed it to my friend who easily ran it to make a lay up. During the game my guys were so happy for me. At the end of game, other team coach i passed by but he approached me and held my hand in both hands to say good job. It was an amazing feeling to feel accepted in an all male dominated sport.

People, for her these are personal achievements she will cherish for the rest of your life. You don't need to become a professional QB to be succesful. This experience sets her up for a great future, no matter what direction it will go. It's inspiring and I'm sure that many young girls that have seen her play are looking up to her.

+Sean -- You're right. Even though I played every "normal" boys sport in high school (except soccer), the hardest thing I ever attempted (and failed at miserably) was doing gymnastics during PE. Those "still rings" and the "pommel horse" kicked my ass. And don't get me started on the one where you run real fast, jump onto the springboard (or whatever it's called), touch the pommel horse as you flip over it, and *attempt* to land on your feet. Yeah, right. After that, I had much respect for those guys during the Olympics.

I mean no hate to a guy who does a female-dominant sport, but in my opinion, girls playing football isn't comparable to that because: first, it is proven that males are typically more athletically inclined in the sense that men, on average, have 40% greater body strength than women which makes playing a male-dominant sport even more impressive. And secondly, football, is one one of the highest contact sports to play regardless of the gender that dominates it. With both being said, it makes sense that girls playing football receive more recognition than men who take part in female-dominant sports.

Football is a contact sport, and it wouldn't be fair to say hit her lightly, and I think she'd feel disrespected to be treated as a lesser person by it as well. She knew what she was getting in to and she took that injury in stride. She could've gotten the same injury playing basketball or volleyball, so what's the difference? She has the respect of her team and they don't treat her as a side show, they treat her the same, and I'm guessing that's what she wants.

Kudos to you girl!! I’m on my fifth year of starting lineman offensive and defensive and I play linebacker. I can totally relate to you because I tell people I play and they think I sit on the bench the whole game or don’t get sacks or hits. But in reality I work hard and that’s what we have to do because it’s a male dominant sport and we need to prove we can do it. Keep up the hard work😘
